About 10 years ago, I was feeling bad, so I went to the doctor’s for a check up. The
doctor was amazed that I was able to get to his office on my own, because my blood
pressure was so high that he thought I was about to have a heart attack or a stroke. He
had the nurse place a nitro pill under my tongue and I had to stay there a while. He
talked to me and told me the seriousness of my health and prescribed some pills for me
and told me I would have to take these pills for the rest of my life, and that I had to follow
the prescription because if I would miss even a day, that it could cause serious
problems. I took the prescription and went home. I placed the prescription on the table
on my back porch and began to talk to God. I asked Him to help me take the pills daily
as prescribed, because I was not one that took pills, not even for a headache. I told
God what the doctor said, and I then asked Him if there were anything else I could do. I
heard, don’t eat pork. I immediately began to think I could not do that because I liked,
bacon, chops, sausage, even pig feet. But because I knew I heard from God, I decided
to do it. I stopped eating any pork in my diet, and within a few days, I noticed I was
feeling a lot better. Now the task of not eating pork became a lot harder because my
family still ate pork, and when I was invited to their houses, a lot of the time they had
pork products even in the vegetables and I was forced to go hungry. I began to think
that if I was to do what God had told me I had to cut myself off from family gatherings. I
then realized that I could either eat at home before I went or stop somewhere on the way
there and eat, so I wouldn’t be hungry.
About a year later, I got a word from God that I was going to testify at the church where I
was attending at their health fair. I read things to try to prepare myself to do this. As I
was walking into the church I saw a blood donor truck parked outside, and I heard, “go
give blood”. I have to tell you, as a child and growing up I was always anemic and was
never allowed to give blood, so when I heard this, I wondered if I was hearing right. But
in obedience I went into the truck and they checked my blood to see if I was fit to
donate. They checked my blood 3 times, because the first time the girl said she couldn’t
tell, so another girl tested my blood and said it was alright, and because they had to
make sure, another girl tested me again and said I was fit to donate. I was happy
because I was able to testify how good God was without opening my mouth, however, I
did testify this at the church, that afternoon.
I serve on the nursing home ministry and I am able to testify over and over. I never got
that prescription filled and never took any pills besides the one they put under my
tongue to revive me. To this day I am very healthy. I give all glory to God.
This was the beginning of a relationship with God that has blossomed, and grown. I
have to tell you that I was a Catholic for 35 years and didn’t really read the Bible; I was
religious but lost. But after hearing from God I got hungry for God and began reading
His word daily. I was called to teach, and began studying under the guidance of the
Holy Spirit. I left my occupation, because I got a word from God. I had an accounting
and tax business, as well as a real estate license and was a partner in a mortgage
brokerage. I realized that I was grieving God, because I was doing things that didn’t
please Him. I had clients that asked if I could reduce their taxes and or make their
statement of accounts look better, and I did it.
After 3 years of study, I began having Bible studies with the tenants at the apartment
building I was then living, and saw many conversions. One afternoon, after leading a
former Jehovah witness to Christ, I was walking back upstairs. Before I could get into
the apartment where I was staying, I was thrown down outside of the door, and busted
my knees very badly. I got into the apartment and was thrown down again. My dogs,
came over to lick me, and I heard “lay your hands on your knees and declare, by His
stripes you are healed” and I sat up and did it. My knees stilled look bad, and my sister
was trying to get me to go to the hospital for stitches, knowing I was healed, I didn’t go.
A few hours later, I had to take my dogs out for their walk, and because the elevator was
still out of order, I walked down 3 flights of stairs. Everyone that saw my knees was
amazed, because they still looked bad, but I had no pain and was fully able to walk.
God has done so many wonderful things for and to me, but the greatest thing is to use
me to lead others to Himself.
