Your Obedience

Your greatest form of obedience is to accept God’s plan for redemption of mankind;
Romans 5:17-19 says “for if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more
they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in
life by One, Jesus Christ.  Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all
men to condemnation, even so by the righteousness of One the free gift came upon
all men to justification of life.  For as by one man’s disobedience many were made
sinners, so by the obedience of One shall many be made righteous”.  The Bible says
that “neither is there salvation in any other; for there is none other name under
heaven given among men whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). Jesus is not a way,
He is the way (John 14:6) “Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life; no
man comes to the Father, but by Me”.

You don’t keep the law to obtain salvation, salvation is a free gift from God (Ephesians
2:8-10) “for by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of ourselves, it is the
gift of God.  Not of works, less any man should boast.  For we are His workmanship
created in Christ Jesus to good works, which God has before ordained that we should
walk in them”.  The law is not something you can do on your own, however when you
receive the grace of God, that’s Jesus, He gives you the strength to live an obedient
life (John 15:7-8) “if you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you shall ask what
you will, and it shall be done to you.  Herein is My Father glorified that you bear much
fruit; so shall you be My disciples”.  Remember the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith.  Meekness, temperance against such there
is no law (Galatians 5:22-23).

Obedience is not just a fleshly obedience, but a heart obedience, remember you are a
three part being, spirit, soul and body.  Your obedience to receive Jesus Christ as
your Lord and Savior opens the door for you to walk in the reconciliation which God
has provided for you (II Corinthians 5:17-21).  At the new birth your spirit man is
immediately transformed, and as you are washed with the water of the word, you grow
up into Him in all things, which is the head, even Christ (Ephesians 4:15).   It is the
goodness of God leads you to repentance (Romans 2:4).

Your obedience shuts the door on the devil (Ephesians 4:27) “neither give place to
the devil; and (Romans 6:11-18) “likewise reckon you also yourselves to be dead
indeed to sin, but alive to God through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Let not sin therefore
reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in the lists thereof.  Neither yield you
your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin; but yield yourselves to God,
as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of
righteousness to God.  For sin shall not have dominion over you; for you are not
under the law, but under grace.  What then?  Shall we sin, because we are not under
the law, but under grace?  God forbid.  Know you not, that to whom you yield
yourselves servants to obey, his servants you are to whom you obey, whether of sin to
death, or of obedience to righteousness?  But God be thanked, that you were the
servants of sin, but you have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was
delivered you.  Being then made free from sin, you became the servants of
righteousness”.

The Bible says Jesus “being made perfect, He became the author of eternal salvation
to all them that obey Him” (Hebrews 5:9).  James says “submit yourselves therefore to
God, resist the devil, and he (the devil) will flee from you.  Draw near to God, and He
will draw near to you” (James 4:7-8).  To submit is to yield or surrender to.  I heard a
saying “let go and let God”.  Psalms 46:10 says “be still, and know that I am God”.

Many people are trying to live a righteous life in their own power, and because it’s not
possible, they get frustrated and either say that everybody sins and because they
think this, they are stuck in that life style.  But when we receive the free gift of grace,
and fill ourselves daily on the word of God, we will be transformed by the water of the
word.  Your obedience is powered by the word of God, II Corinthians 10:4-5 says “for
the weapons of our warfare are not carnal (worldly), but mighty through God to the
pulling down of strongholds.  Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that
exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to
the obedience of Christ”.

When grace is preached, it seems like it’s giving an open door to sin; then we read
that “the wages of sin is death”.  It seems like the Bible is contradicting itself, but it is
the grace of God that leads to repentance.  Your obedience to be filled with the Holy
Spirit gives you the ability to live and walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh.  As we
understand the love of God, and receive His grace, our lives are transformed by the
word of God.  Psalms 37:5 says “commit thy way unto the Lord Yahweh, trust also in
Him, and He shall bring it to pass”.  Proverbs 16:3 says “commit thy works unto the
Lord Yahweh, and thy thoughts shall be established.
