What Would Jesus Say
That sounds like a very good question, and the Bible reveals it to us in John 8:28
which says “I do nothing of Myself, but as My Father has taught Me, I speak these
things”; in John 12:49-50 which says “for I have not spoken of Myself, but the
Father which sent Me, He gave Me a commandment, what I should say, and what I
should speak. And I know that His commandment is life everlasting, whatsoever I
speak therefore, even as the Father said to Me, so I speak”; and in John 14:10
which says “believe you not that I am the Father, and the Father in Me, the words
that I speak to you, I speak not of Myself, but the Father that dwells in Me, He does
the works”. So you see that Jesus only said and did what He heard the Father say
and do. We as imitators of Jesus must do the same thing.
Jesus said “man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out
of the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4). Now when you consider that the word of God is
Spirit and life (John 6:63). As we speak the word of God over our circumstances,
we are speaking life into it.
Proverbs 18:20-21 says “a man’s shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and
with the increase of his lips shall he be filled. Death and life are in the power of the
tongue, and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof”.
Jesus says in John 15:4-8 “abide in Me and I in you, as the branch cannot bear fruit
of itself, except it abide in the vine, no more can you; except you abide in Me. I am
the vine, you are the branches, he that abides in Me and I in him, the same brings
forth much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If any man abide not in Me, he
is cast into forth as a branch, and is withered and men gather them and cast them
into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you,
you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done to you. Herein is My Father
glorified, that you bear much fruit, so shall you be My disciples”. II Corinthians 4:13
says “we having the same spirit of faith according as it is written, I believed, and
therefore have I spoken, we also believe, and therefore speak”. And Psalms 68:11
says “the Lord gave the word; great was the company of those that publish it”.
Consider what you are speaking, Jesus said in Matthew 12:34-37 “O generation of
vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of
the heart the mouth speaks. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart
brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil
things. But I say to you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give
account thereof in the day of judgment. For by your words you shall be justified,
and by your words you shall be condemned”.
I have a key chain which says “WWJD”, and as I was thinking on it, I heard what did
Jesus say, because Jesus always did what He said.
Jesus warns us saying “why call you, Me, Lord, Lord and do not the things which I
say? Whosoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings, and does them, I will show
you to whom he is like. He is like a man which built a house, and dig deep and laid
the foundation on a rock, and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently
upon that house, and could not shake it; for it was founded upon a rock. But he
that hears, and does not, is like a man that without a foundation built a house upon
the earth, against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell,
and the ruin of that house was great” (Luke 6:46-49).
Just like Jesus spoke what He saw and heard the Father do, shows us that we too
must do the same. James reaffirms it by saying “but be you a doer of the word, and
not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word,
and not a doer, he is like to a man beholding his natural face in a glass. For he
beholds himself, and goes his way, and immediately forgets what manner of man he
was. But whoso looks into the perfect law of liberty, and continues therein, he
being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his
deed” (James 1:22-25).
Colossians 3:16-17 says “let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom;
teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever you do in word or
deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks of God and the Father in
Him”.
We are called to be an ambassador for Christ (II Corinthians 5:17-21) “therefore if
any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all
things are become new. And all things are of God, who has reconciled us to
Himself by Jesus Christ, and has given to us the ministry of reconciliation. To say,
that God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their
trespasses to them; and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Now then
we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us, we pray you
in Christ’s stead, be you reconciled to God. For He has made Him to be sin for us,
who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him”. An
ambassador is to speak only what his master tells him to speak.
An ambassador of reconciliation has an important responsibility, remember that
God does not want any to perish. We are an ambassador for Christ, sent with His
message of reconciliation to the world (Matthew 28:19-20) Jesus says to us “go you
therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of
the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I
have commanded you, and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world”.
We represent the kingdom of God (Matthew 16:19), Jesus said “and I will give to
you the keys of the kingdom of heaven and whatsoever you shall bind on earth
shall be bound in heaven, and whatsoever you loose on earth shall be loosed in
heaven”. We as Christ’s ambassadors, God is using us to speak to others.
In the letter of Paul, the apostle called himself an ambassador for Christ, he was
separated to convey the gospel of Christ to the Gentiles (Ephesians 6:20).
