Walking in the Path of God

Walking in the path of God is what God has predestined for us (Romans 8:29-
31) “for whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the
image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Moreover, whom He did predestinate them He also called; and whom He called,
them He also justified, and whom He justified, them He also glorified.  What shall
we then say to these things?  If God be for us, who can be against us”?

Ephesians 2:10 says “for we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to
good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them”.

II Corinthians 5:17-18 says “therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new
creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.  And
all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and has
given to us the ministry of reconciliation”.  Now, because we are a new creation
in the kingdom of God, we have to learn to walk in His path (Psalms 119:01-105)
says “I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep Your word.
I have not departed from Your judgments; for You have taught me.  How sweet
are Your words to my taste; yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!  Though
Your precepts I get understanding therefore I hate every false way.  Your word
is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path”.

David was called a man after Gods own heart, and he would pray for God to
direct him, David tells the Lord Yahweh in (Psalms 16:11) “You will show me the
path of life, in Your presence is fullness of joy, at Your right hand there are
pleasures for evermore”.  Psalms 17:4-7 David says “concerning the works of
men, by the word of Your lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.
Hold up my goings in Your paths, that my footsteps slip not.  I have called upon
You, for You will hear me, O God; incline Your ear to me, and hear my speech.
Show Your marvelous loving kindness, O You that saves by Your right hand
them which put their trust in You from those that rise up against them”.  Psalms
23:3 says “He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for
His name’s sake”.  And then in Psalms 25:1-5,9-10 David says “to You O Lord
Yahweh, do I lift up my soul.  O my God, I trust in You; let me not be ashamed,
let not my enemies triumph over me.  Yea, let none that wait on You be
ashamed, let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.  Show me Your
ways, O Lord Yahweh; teach me Your paths.  Lead me in Your truth, and teach
me, for You are the God of my salvation; on You do I wait all the day.  The meek
He guide in judgment, and the meek will He teach His way.  All the paths of the
Lord Yahweh are mercy and truth to such as keep His covenant and His
testimonies”.  Also in Psalms 27:11 he says “teach me Your way, O Lord
Yahweh; and lead me in a plain path, because of my enemies”.

We too can pray such prayers, the Psalmist in Psalms 119:33-38 says “teach
me, O Lord Yahweh, the way of Your statutes; and I shall keep it to the end.
Give me understanding, and I shall keep Your law, yea, I shall observe it with my
whole heart.  Make me to go in the path of Your commandments; for therein do I
delight.  Incline my heart to Your testimonies and not to covetousness.  Turn
away my eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken You me in Your way.
Establish Your word in Your servant, who is devoted to Your reverence”.

Proverbs shows us how to walk in His path (Proverbs 3:5-7) says “trust in the
Lord Yahweh with all your heart, and lean not to your own understanding.  In all
your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.  Be not wise in your
own eyes; fear (reverence) the Lord Yahweh and depart from evil”.  And then in
Proverbs 4:10-18 says “hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years
of your life shall be many.  I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led
you in right paths.  When you go, your steps shall not be hampered; and when
you run you shall not stumble.  Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go; keep
her; for she is your life.  Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the
way of evil men.  Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.  For they
sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless
they cause some to fall.  For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the
wine of violence.  But the path of the just is as the shinning light, that shines
more and more to the perfect day”.

The apostle Paul tells us that we have to renew our minds to the word of God
(Romans 12:1-2) “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God,
that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is
your reasonable service.  And be not conformed to this world; but be you
transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that
good, and acceptable and perfect will of God”.  We change our mind to what
God has said; change our words to agree with God’s words and then you will
see that new creation emerge.

Psalms 1 says “blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful.  But his
delight is in the law of the Lord Yahweh; and in His law does he meditate day
and night.  And he shall be like a tree planted by the river of water, that brings
forth its fruit in its season; ifs leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he does
shall prosper.  The ungodly are not so; but are like the chaff which the wind
drives away.  Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners
in the congregation of the righteous.  For the Lord Yahweh knows the way of
the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish” (Psalms 1:1-6).

God has made the way for us (Ephesians 4:11-15) “and He gave some
apostles, and some prophets, and some evangelists; and some pastors and
teachers.  For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the
edifying of the body of Christ.  Till we all come to the unity of the faith, and of
the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the
stature of the fullness of Christ.  That we hereafter be no more children, tossed
to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men,
and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive.  But speaking the
truth in love, may grow up into Him in all things, which is the head, even Christ”.

Since the word of God is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path, let us dig into
the word so we can walk in His path for our lives.  We know that God wants us to
prosper and be in health, even as our soul prospers, so let us make a
commitment to follow His path.
