Wake Up
I did a Bible study on Tuesday called “Born of Spirit” and in it I explained slightly
who we are in Christ. I had a dream Wednesday morning before I awoke and it
startled me. I was taken into a building, it seemed like a warehouse, and as I was
led in, I saw what seemed like a lot of shacks, some made with cardboard, some
with scraps of wood. The people who took me in there when to talk with the
people there, and I found myself left alone. I began to leave, but I got turned
around and couldn’t find my way out. I looked and saw a window afar off, and I
had to climb over much stuff, but I finally stepped on a broken chair and got out,
and I woke up crying. I prayed for interpretation of that dream and I got that
people are living way below God’s plan for them.
Born again believers are “heirs of God and joint heirs with Jesus Christ”
(Romans 8:17, Galatians 3:26, James 2:5). The Bible also tells us that “the
heaven, even the heavens are the Lord Yahweh’s but the earth has He given to
the children of men” (Psalms 115:16).
Our job is to believe and meditate on the word of God concerning us. Meditate
means to think about, speak about, and get excited about what God says about
us, mainly because we know that His words do not return to Him void. This is
what God said to Joshua “this book of the law (Bible) shall not depart out of your
mouth, but you shall meditate therein day and night, that you may observe to do
according to all that is written therein, for then you shall make your way
prosperous and then you shall have good success” (Joshua 1:8). People are
waiting for God to make them prosperous and successful, but that verse says
“then you shall make your way prosperous and then you shall have good
success”. As we meditate on the word of God until we believe it with all our
heart, “for with the heart man believes to righteousness, and with the mouth
confession is made to salvation”; salvation is not just being saved and going to
heaven, it is peace, health, and prosperity also.
We have been talking about the testimonies of great men of the Bible, and that
means men and women. We can do the same kinds of things as any of the great
people in the Bible. James told us that Elijah was a man of like passions; he knew
who he was, because he knew that God was with him. We have to arise as God
tells us in Psalms 82, for we are the children of the Most High God.
We have been restored, reconciled to God and have the same abilities as Adam
had before the fall. Genesis chapter 1 ends by saying that “every thing that God
made was very good” (Genesis 1:31); and that includes you.
Look back at all the examples in the Bible, look at what God says you are and
then proclaim it. Start saying I am the righteousness of God in Christ. I am a
son of the Most High God. I am a heir of God and joint heirs with Jesus. I am
above and not beneath. I am blessed when I go out an I am blessed when I
come in. I am more than a conqueror. And as you confess these things over
your life, you are sowing seed into your heart. An important key for us is found
in Proverbs 4:20-24 says “My son, attend to my words, incline your ear to my
sayings. Let them not depart from your eyes, keep them in the midst of your
heart. For they are life to all those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life. Put away
from you a forward mouth, and perverse lips put far from you”.
The Bible says in Ephesians 3:20 “now to Him that is able to do exceeding
abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in
us”.
There is not a day that goes by, that I am not in the word of God, not because I
think I have to, but I find many golden nuggets about who I am and as I know I
have been made a priest and a king, I can do as Job 22:28 says “you shall also
decree a thing, and it shall be established to you, and the light shall shine upon
your ways”; and Psalms 68:11 says “the Lord gave the word, great was the
company of those that proclaimed it”. As Jesus only spoke what He heard His
Father do and say, we can only defeat the devil when we do the same.
Remember that Proverbs 18:20-21 says “a man’s belly shall be satisfied with the
fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled. Death and
life are in the power of the tongue, and they that love it shall eat the fruit
thereof”. Let us dedicate our mouth to blessing and not cursing, there is power
in our tongue when we begin to speak life and not death.
Another key is for us not to stand in our own righteousness, we have been made
the righteousness of God in Christ (II Corinthians 5:21). Paul warns in Romans
10:3 “for they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to
establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves to the
righteousness of God”. As we walk in His righteousness we will purify ourselves
(I Corinthians 15:34) “awake to righteousness, and sin not”
Let’s be believers and not doubters, the Bible says “all things are possible to
them that believe (Mark 9:23). The thief, the devil doesn’t want you to walk in
the fullness of God, so he sends doubts in to keep you from believing and
receiving the promises of God. You will hear people saying “I can’t believe that”,
a lot of people don’t believe in healing, or prosperity, but the Bible mentions
these as a part of our covenant rights.
Paul warns us not to be ignorant of the devils devices (II Corinthians 2:11); and
Ephesians 6:10-18, we are told to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His
might, by putting on the whole armor of God that we may be able to stand
against the viles (tricks, schemes) of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh
and blood, but against principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world
and spiritual wickedness in high places. We have to know that the devil uses
people, even people that we know and respect to bring doubt. Just like the
snake in the garden said “did God say?” and he even tried this trick on Jesus by
saying “If You be the Son of God?”, but Jesus used the word of God against the
devil, and we are told that “the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty
through God to the pulling down of strong holds. Casting down imaginations,
and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing
into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” ( II Corinthians 10:4-5).
We must remember that you are who God says you are, you can do what God
says you can do, you have what God says you have; and that the devil is the
accuser of the brethren. Let’s make the Bible the final authority in our lives.
Mark 16:17-18 says “ and these signs shall follow them that believe; in My name
shall they cast out devils, they shall speak with new tongues. They shall take up
serpents and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them, they shall lay
hands on the sick and they shall recover”.
