Touch Not God’s Anointed
God takes what we say about and do to His anointed as being done to Him. The
Bible says in I Chronicles 16:21-22 “He allowed no man to do them wrong; yea, He
reproved kings for their sakes. Saying; touch not My anointed, and do My prophets
no harm”; and the same thing is repeated in Psalms 105:14-15. So lets look at some
examples: Korah, Dathan and Abiram rose up against Moses and Aaron. Now these
were all separated to minister to the Lord, so they thought that they didn’t have to
listen to Moses and Aaron and said “you take too much upon you, seeing all the
congregation are holy, every one of them, and the Lord Yahweh is among them,
wherefore then lift you up yourselves above the congregation of the Lord?”, So
Moses told them to take their censers and put fire therein, and put incense in them
before the Lord Yahweh tomorrow and it shall be that the man whom the Lord
Yahweh does choose, he shall be holy, you take too much upon you, you sons of
Levi (Numbers 16:1-7), then the Lord Yahweh spoke to Moses saying speak to the
congregation saying get you up from about the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and
Abiram. And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words,
that the ground clave as under that was under them. And the earth opened it mouth
and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appeared to Korah,
and of their goods.
And lets look at Miriam and Aaron who speaks against Moses (Number 12:1-2) “and
Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he
had married, for he had married an Ethiopian woman. And they said, has the Lord
Yahweh indeed spoken only by Moses? Has He not spoken also by us? And the
Lord Yahweh heard it. The Lord Yahweh told the three of them to come out to the
tabernacle of the congregation, and they came out. In verse 9-15 it says “and the
anger of the Lord Yahweh was kindled against them, and He departed. And the cloud
departed from off the tabernacle and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow,
and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and behold, she was leprous. And Aaron said to
Moses, Alas; my lord, I beseech you, lay not the sin upon us, wherein we have done
foolishly, and wherein we have sinned. Let her not be as one dead. And Moses cried
to the Lord, saying, heal her now, O God, I beseech You. And the Lord Yahweh said
to Moses, let her be shut out from the camp seven days, and after that let her be
received in again. And Miriam was shut out from the camp seven days, and the
people journeyed not till Miriam was brought in again”.
The ten spies who came back with an evil report and caused the whole camp to
murmur against Moses (Numbers 14:27-31) God says to Moses “how long shall I bear
with this evil congregation, which murmur against Me? I have heard the murmuring of
the children of Israel, which they murmur against Me. Say to them, as truly as I live
says the Lord Yahweh, as you have spoken in My ears, so will I do to you. Your
carcases shall fall in this wilderness, and all that were numbered of you, according to
your whole number from twenty years old, and upward, which have murmured against
Me. Doubtless you shall not come into the land, concerning which I swear to make
you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneb, and Joshua the son of Nun. But
your little ones, which you said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall
know the land which you have despied”.
David understood this, and even though he was anointed king by Samuel, after the
kingship was taken from king Saul, and as king Saul tried to kill him, he would not
retaliate; even though he had two opportunities to kill king Saul, he would not (I
Samuel 24:6 and I Samuel 26:9-11) “and he said to his men, the Lord forbid that I
should do this thing to my master, the Lord Yahweh’s anointed, to stretch forth mine
hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the Lord Yahweh. And then the
second time “and David said to Abiskiai, destroy him not for who can stretch forth his
hand against the Lord Yahweh’s anointed, and be guiltless?” and David said
furthermore, as the Lord Yahweh lives, the Lord Yahweh shall smite him; or his day
shall come to die, or he shall descend into battle and perish. The Lord Yahweh forbid
that I should stretch forth my hand against the Lord’s anointed, but I pray you, take
you now the spear that is at his bolster, and the cruse of water, and let us go”. I
believe that this is part of the reason that David is called “a man after God’s own
heart”.
Jesus speaks of Saul (Acts 9:1-4) “and Saul, yet breathing out threatenings, and
slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest. And desired of
him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether
they were men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. And as he
journeyed, he came near Damascus, and suddenly there shined round about him a
light from heaven. And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying to him, Saul
Saul, why persecute you Me?” so you see that we became anointed, after we came
to the Lord. Christians are said to be anointed by the Holy Spirit (II Corinthians 1:21-
22) “now He which establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, is God.
Who has also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts”. And also
in I John 2:20 which says “but you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you
know all things”.
People think nothing about talking about other Christians, even pastors, evangelist
and teachers, but because God is the same yesterday, today and forever, there are
consequences. We may not always agree with every thing others say, but we are not
to talk about them. The internet has become a dumping ground with gossip about
many leaders, don’t fall into that trap of carrying on this way (Galatians 6:7-10) “be
not deceived, God is not mocked, for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also
reap. For he that sows to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that sows
to the Spirit, shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well
doing, for in due season we shall reap if we faint not. As we have therefore
opportunity, let us do good to all men, especially to them who are of the household of
faith”.
When we feel that there is biblical error being presented, we should restrict ourselves
from hearing from them, do what the Bereas did, they search the scriptures to see if
what Paul said was true; we are told that in the last days some shall depart from the
faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils, having a form of
godliness, but denying the power thereof, from such turn away; and then we should
pray that their eyes will be opened to see the truth. One of the things that God hates
is listed in Proverbs 6:19 which says “he that sows discord among brethren”. Besides
if we sow discord, we will reap discord. We are one body of Christ.
Jesus says as the Son of man come in His glory and separates the sheep from goats
(Matthew 25:31-46) to the sheep He says “Come you blessed of My Father, inherit
the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world” in verse 40 He says
to the sheep “verily, I say to you, inasmuch as you have done it to one of the least of
these My brethren, you have done it to Me”; then verse 45 He says to the goats on
the left “verily, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it not to one of the least of these,
you did it not to Me”. Verse 46 He says to the goats “and these shall go away into
everlasting punishment, but the righteous into the eternal”.
