Things Don’t Just Happen
Things don’t just happen, words puts things in motion. Sometimes it’s the words of
others that come against us. We have to counter the words of others (I Corinthians
10:5) “casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the
knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of
Christ”.
In the beginning, God spoke and then things happened (Genesis 1:3) “and God
said, Let there be light and there was light”. God calls those things that be not as
though they were (Romans 4:17) “As it is written, I have made you a father of many
nations, before Him whom he believed, even God, who makes alive the dead, and
calls those things which be not as though they were”. People would say that you are
lying, but following the law of God, you will see the thing come to pass if you will
believe and then speak. Galatians 6:7-9 tells us “be not deceived, God is not
mocked, for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap. For he that sows to his
flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that sows to the Spirit, shall of the
Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing for in due season
we shall reap, if we faint not”. Now sometimes it was done in error, but to turn it
around you have to speak life into your situation. We have to remember that “death
and life are in the power of the tongue; and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof”
(Proverbs 18:21).
In understanding this, that we are made in His image (Genesis 1:26) “And God said
let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness, and let them have dominion over
the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle and over all the
earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth”. We can see what
Jesus meant as He said “either make the tree good, and its fruit good, or else make
the tree corrupt, and its fruit corrupt, for the tree is known by its fruit. O generation
of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of
the heart the mouth speaks. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart
brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil
things. But I say to you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give
account thereof in the day of judgment. For by your words you shall be justified, and
by your words you shall be condemned”. God has put laws in place on this earth,
and this is one of them.
Paul writes “we have the same spirit of faith according as it is written, I believed and
therefore have I spoken, we also believe and therefore speak” (II Corinthians 4:13).
Jesus said “all things are possible to them that believe” (Matthew 9:23).
The Bible tells us “submit yourselves to God, resist the devil and he will flee from
you” (James 4:7). You submit to God by believing and speaking what He says.
Jesus said “I only say what I have heard My Father say”. You resist the devil by
telling him what God says about it. In the wilderness as Jesus was being tempted by
the devil, He kept saying “it is written” then saying what God said about the
circumstance (Luke 4:1-13).
The Bible says “let the redeemed of the Lord say so” (Psalms 107:2). Well, we are
redeemed from the curse of the law (Deuteronomy 28;15-68). You should examine
and study, what you have been redeemed from and then tell the devil “it is written”, I
and redeemed from sickness, poverty, and an unstable mind, etc.
Jesus told us “I will give to you the keys of the kingdom of heaven and whatsoever
you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatsoever you shall loose on
earth shall be loosed in heaven” (Matthew 16:19). So nothing is going to happen,
until we start binding to us the things we want to happen in our lives, and loosing
those things that come against us. The keys has been placed in our hands.
