Study Truth for Yourself

Pilate asked Jesus, what is truth?  But he didn’t stay around to find out.  The Bible
says “Jesus is the way the truth and the life” (John 14:6).  Jesus said in John 8:31-32
“then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on Him, if you continue in My word,
then are you My disciple indeed.  And you shall know the truth, and the truth, shall
make you free”.  It is the truth that you know that will make you free.  Romans 15:4
says “for whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that
we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope”.

The Bereans check out what they heard (Acts 17:11-12) “these were more noble
than those in Thessalonica in that, they received the word with all readiness of mind,
and searched the scriptures daily whether those things were so.  Therefore many of
them believed, also of honorable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few”.
Be like the Bereans, your salvation is much too important to trust it with any man.  We
are told to “study to show yourself approved to God, a workman that needs not to be
ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (II Timothy 2:15).  And again in II Timothy
3:15-17 the Bible says “and that from a child you have known the holy scriptures,
which are able to make you wise to salvation, through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
All scripture, is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine for reproof,
for correction, for instruction in righteousness.  That the man of God, may be perfect,
thoroughly furnished to all good works”.  Many cults are misleading many because
they haven’t studied the Bible for themselves, and are swayed.

You don’t read the Bible as a requirement, to receive a reward. You study so you can
prove what is acceptable to God (Romans 12:1-2) “I beseech you therefore,
brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy
acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.  And be not conformed to this
world but be you transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what
is that good and acceptable, and perfect, will of God”.  God’s will is His word.  Psalms
119:9-11 says “wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way?  By taking heed
thereto according to Your word.  With my whole heart have I sought You, O let me not
wander from Your commandments.  Your word have I hid in my heart, that I might not
sin against You”.  You hid the word by reading and meditating on it.

We are reconciled through the blood of Jesus (II Corinthians 5:19), and God wants
that personal relationship with each of us (I John 1:3) “that which we have seen and
heard declare we to you, that you also may have fellowship with us, and truly our
fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ”.  The same relationship
that Adam had before the fall.  Adam walked with God in the cool of the day; and we
can do the same.  The Bible tells in James 4:7-8 “submit yourselves therefore to God,
resist the devil, and he will flee from you.  Draw near to God, and He will draw near to
you”.  As we make the move toward God, He moves towards us.  The Bible says
“seek Me and you shall find Me, when you shall search for Me with your whole heart”
(Jeremiah 29:13); and “I love them that love Me, and those that seek Me early shall
find Me” (Proverbs 8:17).  For your relationship with God to grow, you need to know
what pleases Him.  God has no grandchildren, everyone has to establish their
relationship with God, by accepting Jesus and their personal Lord and Savior (John 3:
16-17).

You see the choice is ours.  Deuteronomy 30:19-20 says “I call heaven and earth to
record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and
cursing, therefore choose life, that both you and your seed may live.  That you may
love the Lord Yahweh your God, and that you may obey His voice, and that you may
cling to Him for He is your life, and the length of your days that you may dwell in the
land which the Lord Yahweh swear to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to
Jacob, to give them”.
