Protection
Protection is promised to us by God, this Moses spoke to Joshua in (Deuteronomy 31:
3-6) “The Lord Yahweh your God, He will go over before you, and He will destroy
these nations from before you, and you shall possess them; and Joshua, he shall go
over before you, as the Lord Yahweh has said. And the Lord Yahweh shall do to
them as He did to Sihon and to Og, kings of the Amorites, and to the land of them,
whom He destroyed. And the Lord Yahweh shall give them up before your face, that
you may do to them according to all the commandments which I have commanded
you. Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them, for the Lord
Yahweh your God, He it is that does go with you, He will not fail you, nor forsake you”
Protection is promised by God in death (Psalms 23:4) “yea, though I walk through the
valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me. Your rod and
Your staff they comfort me”.
Protection is promised to us in all dangers (Psalms 91:3-12) “surely He shall deliver
you from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover you
with His feathers, and under His wings shall you trust. His truth shall be your shield
and buckler. You shall not be afraid for the terror by night, nor for the arrow that flies
by day. Nor for the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor for the destruction that
wastes at noonday. A thousand shall fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right
hand, but it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you behold and see
the reward of the wicked. Because you have made the Lord Yahweh which is my,
refuge, even the Most High your habitation. There shall no evil befall you, neither
shall any plague come near your dwelling. For He shall give His angels charge over
you, to keep you in all your ways. They shall bear you up in their hands, less you
dash your foot against a stone”. We have to look for and expect our protection as in
Psalms 121 “I will lift up my eyes to the hills from where comes my help. My help
comes from the Lord Yahweh, which made heaven and earth. He will not allow your
foot to be moved. He that keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He that keeps Israel
shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord Yahweh is your keeper; the Lord Yahweh is
your shade upon your right hand. The sun shall not smite you by day, nor the moon
by night. The Lord Yahweh shall preserve you from all evil. He shall preserve your
soul. The Lord Yahweh shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this
time forth, even for evermore”.
Protection is promised to us in persecution (Luke 21:17-18) “And you shall be hated
of all men for My name sake. But there shall not an hair of your head perish”.
Protection is promised to us in temptation (I Corinthians 10:13) “There has no
temptation taken you, but such as is common to man, but God is faithful, who will not
suffer you to be tempted above that you are able, but will with the temptation, also
make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it”.
Protection is given to repentant sinner (Job 22:23-30) “If you return to the Almighty,
you shall be built up, you shall put away iniquity far from your tabernacles. Then shall
you lay up gold as dust, and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks. Yea, the
Almighty shall be your defense, and you shall have plenty of silver. For then shall you
have delight in the Almighty, and shall lift up your face to God. You shall make your
prayer to Him, and He shall hear you, and you shall pay your vows. You shall also
decree a thing, and it shall be established to you, and the light shall shine upon your
ways. When men are cast down, then you shall say. There is lifting up, and He shall
save the humble person. He shall deliver the island of the innocent, and it is
delivered by the pureness of your hands”.
Protection is given to the oppressed (Psalms 9:9-10) “The Lord Yahweh also will be a
refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And they that know Your name
will put their trust in You, for You Lord Yahweh, have not forsaken them that seek
You”.
Protection is give to the poor (Psalms 72:12-14) “For He shall deliver the needy when
he cries, the poor also, and him that has no helper. He shall spare the poor and
needy, and shall save the souls of the needy”.
Protection is given to those who hearken to God (Proverbs 1:33) “But whoso
hearkens to me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil”. Let us look at
our examples in scripture Moses (Exodus 3:12, Joshua (Joshua 1:1-5) and Gideon
(Judges 6:14-16).
Protection is not found in idols (Deuteronomy 32:36-38) “For the Lord Yahweh shall
judge His people, and repent Himself for His servants, when He see that their power is
gone, and there is none shut up of left. And He shall say, Where are their gods, their
rock in whom they trusted. Which did eat the fat of their sacrifices and drank the wine
of their drink offerings, let them rise up and help you, and be your protection”.
Protection is withdrawn from the disobedient (Leviticus 26:14-17) “But if you will not
hearken to Me and will not do all these commandments. And if you shall despise My
statutes, or if your soul abhor My judgments, so that you will not do all My
commandments, but that you break My covenant. I also will do this to you, I will even
appoint over you terror, consumption and the burning ague, that shall consume the
eyes, and cause sorrow of heart, and you shall sow your seed in vain, for our
enemies shall eat it. And I will set My face against you, and you shall be slain before
your enemies, they that hate you shall reign over you, and you shall flee when none
pursue you”. As we look back at Israel, we see that this happened, and because God
is the same, yesterday, today and forever, this still applies to us.
We must remember that the Bible tells us many times to fear not, and in Isaiah 41:10-
11 says “fear you not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God, I will
strengthen you, yea, I will help you, yea, I will uphold you with the right hand of My
righteousness. Behold, all they that were incensed against you shall be ashamed,
and confounded, they shall be as nothing, and they that strive with you shall perish”.
Taking God at His words gives us strength when we are going through something, so
that we can stand firm on His word and see the victory. Remember that God is our
Father, and a father is protection.
