Pray from the Position of Victory
The Bible tells us in I Corinthians 15:57-58 “but thanks be to God, which give us
the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be you
steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, for as much as
you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord”.
Pray in the name of Jesus, because we are claiming our victory based upon what
Jesus did. Jesus tells us in John 14:13-14 “and whatsoever you shall ask in My
name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you shall ask any
thing in My name, I will do it”. And also in John 16:23-24 “and in that day you shall
ask Me nothing. Verily, verily, I say to you, whatsoever you shall ask the Father in
My name, He will give it you. Here before you have asked nothing in My name; ask
and you shall receive, that your joy may be full”.
Jesus taught us how to pray in Matthew 6:9-15 “after this manner therefore pray
you; Our Father which art in heaven. Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom
come. Your will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily
bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and
the glory, forever. Amen. For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly
Father will also forgive you. But if you forgive not men their trespasses, neither will
your Father forgive your trespasses”. We are to pray that the things in heaven
would come down upon this earth.
And when you pray forgive anyone that you might have a problem with. Jesus
taught us to pray for those that use and abuse you (Matthew 5:44). We can see
the benefits of this by understanding Galatians 6:7 which says “be not deceived,
God is not mocked, for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap”.
James tells us the value of the prayer of faith in James 5:13-18 “is any among you
afflicted? Let him pray, is any merry? Let him sing psalms. Is any sick among
you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him,
anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith shall save
the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall
be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another,
that you may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails
much. Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed
earnestly that it might not rain; and it rained not on the earth by the space of three
years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the
earth brought forth her fruit”. Notice that the Bible reminds us that Elijah was a
man.
The apostle Paul reveals to us how to release the prayer of faith in Philemon 1:6
“that the communication of your faith may become effectual by the acknowledging
of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus”.
Pray the word of God, which is the will of God (I John 5:14-15) “and this is the
confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask any thing according to His will, He
hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we
have the petitions that we desired of Him”. Jesus tells us in John 15:7-10 “if you
abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be
done to you. Herein is My Father glorified, that you bear much fruit; so shall you
be My disciples. As the Father has loved Me, so have I loved you; continue you in
My love. If you keep My commandments you shall abide in My love; even as I have
kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love”. We abide in Him when we
get into His words, and let His words abide in us, and remain steadfast in our lives.
There is an answer for every circumstance and situation in the word of God. We
have to find the answer to our situation and began to pray it over our life.
Remember that there is life and death in the power of the tongue; and the word of
God is life.
Psalms 28:2,6-7 David says “hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry to You,
when I lift up my hands toward Your holy oracle. Blessed be the Lord Yahweh,
because He has heard the voice of my supplications. The Lord Yahweh is my
strength and my shield, my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; therefore my
heart greatly rejoices; and with my song will I praise Him”.
We have to practice saying what we mean and meaning what we say, that way
doubt and unbelief would slip in and trouble us. Jesus taught us to have faith in
God (Mark 11:22-24) “and Jesus answering said to them, have faith in God. For
verily I say to you, that whosoever shall say to this mountain, be you removed, and
be you cast into the sea, and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that
those things which he says shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he says.
Therefore I say to you, what things so ever you desire, when you pray, believe that
you receive them, and you shall have them”. Remember that faith is believing the
word of God and then acting upon it.
Remember that Jesus gave us the keys to the kingdom (Matthew 16:19) “and I will
give to you the keys of the kingdom of heaven and whatsoever you shall bind on
earth, shall be bound in heaven; and whatsoever you shall loose on earth shall be
loosed in heaven”. We have to proclaim that the things in heaven come down
upon this earth, and declare that the things of the devil be bound.
We are supposed to come to the throne of God boldly (Hebrews 10:19-23,35-36)
“having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of
Jesus. By a new and living way, which He has consecrated for us, through the veil,
that is to say His flesh. And having a high priest over the house of God. Let us
draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled
from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast
the profession of our faith without wavering; for He is faithful that promised. Cast
not away therefore your confidence, which has great recompense of reward. For
you have need of patience, that after you have done the will of God, you might
receive the promise”. We have to be confident that what God has said, He is also
able to perform. I John 3:22 says “and whatsoever we ask, we receive of Him,
because we keep His commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in His
sight”.
Praying for those in authority brings us peace (I Timothy 2:1-4) “I exhort therefore,
that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made
for all men. For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and
peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the
sight of God our Savior. Who will have all men to be saved, and to come to the
knowledge of the truth”.
