Our Dominion
God gave mankind dominion (Genesis 1:26,28) “and God said, let Us make man in
Our image, after Our likeness and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea,
and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over
every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth”. Dominion is to bear rule, reign,
exercise lordship, supreme in power, authority; the power to control.
Even though Adam and Eve relinquished man’s authority over to the devil, when they
obeyed what the devil said over what God had said. We thank God, He sent Jesus to
restore us (II Corinthians 5:17-19) “therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new
creature, old things are passed away, behold, all things are become new. And all
things are of God who has reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and has given to
us the ministry of reconciliation. To say that God was in Christ, reconciling the world
to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word
of reconciliation”. As Jesus was on the cross, He said “it is finished”, which indicated
that He had accomplished what the Father sent Him to do; which was to reconcile
mankind to Himself.
Jesus gave us back our authority (Luke 10:19) “behold, I give to you power to tread
on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by
any means hurt you”.
Religion will say you are trying to take God’s dominion, like the devil tried to do
(Isaiah 14:12-15); but the difference is that the devil tried to take dominion over God,
but we are using the dominion that God gave to us (Psalms 8:4-6) “what is man, that
You are mindful of him, and the son of man, that You visit him. For You have made
him a little lower then Elohim, and have crowned him with glory and honor. You made
him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under
his feet”.
The Bible says “the heavens, even the heavens are the Lord Yahweh’s, but the earth
has He given to the children of men” (Psalms 115:16). In Psalms 82 God rebukes us
“God stands in the congregation of the mighty, He judges among the gods. How long
will you judge unjustly, and except the persons of the wicked. Selah. Defend the
poor, and fatherless, do justice to the afflicted and needy. Deliver the poor and
needy; rid them out of the hand of the wicked. They know not, neither will they
understand; they walk on in darkness, all the foundations of the earth are out of
course. I have said, you are gods, and all of you are children of the Most High. But
you shall die like men, and fail like one of the princes. Arise, O god, judge the earth;
for you shall inherit all nations”.
Don’t blame God for what is going on in the earth, we have authority. Jesus gave us
the keys (Matthew 16:19, 18:18) “and I will give to you the keys of the kingdom of
heaven, and whatsoever you shall bind on earth, shall be bound in heaven; and
whatsoever you shall loose on earth, shall be loosed in heaven”. When any one has
keys to a house, they have the authority to enter that house. Well, Jesus gave us
the keys to the kingdom of heaven. So whatever is in heaven, we have the authority
to bring down to earth (Matthew 6:10) “Your kingdom come, Your will be done on
earth, as it is in heaven”; is what we say when we pray the Lord’s prayer. God has to
allow what we allow; we will walk in as much authority as we exercise our authority
over.
There is no sickness in heaven, so we can loose healing into the lives of those that
are bound in sickness. There is no lack in heaven, so we can loose those that are
bound in poverty (Mark 16:17-18) “and these signs shall follow them that believe; in
My name shall they cast out devils, they shall speak with new tongues. They shall
take up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them, they shall
lay hands on the sick and they shall recover”. But if no one lays hands on the sick,
they will not recover.
We also see in James 5:14-15 “is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of
the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the
Lord. And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and
if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him”.
Jesus rebuked His disciples when they failed to use the authority they had (Matthew
8:24-26) “and behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship
was covered with the waves, but He was asleep. And His disciples came to Him, and
awoke Him saying, Lord, save us, we perish. And He says to them, why are you
fearful, O you of little faith? Then He arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea, and
there was a great calm”. And He commends the centurion who understood that
Jesus could say the word only and his servant would be healed (Matthew 8:5-13),
verse 10 and 13 says “when Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to them that
followed, verily I say to you, I have not found so great faith, and no not in Israel. And
Jesus said to the centurion, go you way, and as you have believed, so be it done to
you. And his servant was healed in the self same hour”.
Our authority is released by what we say. Remember that death and life are in the
power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). In Deuteronomy 30:19-20 it says “I call
heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and
death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life; that both you and your seed may
live. That you may love the Lord your God, and that you may obey His voice, and
that you may cling to Him, for He is your life, and the length of your days, that you
may dwell in the land which the Lord Yahweh swear to your fathers, to Abraham, and
Isaac, and to Jacob to give them”. Jesus said “the words that I speak to you, they are
spirit and they are life” (John 6:63).
Jesus lived a life of prayer, and all in the Bible that lived a life of prayer did many
wonders (Daniel 11:32) says “the people that do know their God, shall be strong, and
do exploits”.
Jesus as our example came as a man to show us how to use our authority, He spoke
to the wind and storms and it obeyed Him, and He told us to “have faith in God. For
verily, I say to you, that whosoever shall say to this mountain; be you removed, and
be you cast into the sea, and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those
things which he says shall come to pass, he shall have whatsoever he says.
Therefore I say to you, what things so-ever you desire, when you pray, believe that
you receive them, and you shall have them” (Mark 11:22-24). And in Matthew 17:20
“if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, remove
here to yonder place, and it shall remove, and nothing shall be impossible to you”.
The early church exercised their authority, and in the name of Jesus, they did many
mighty works. Peter and John caused the man lame from birth in Acts chapter 3;
verse 6-8 says “then Peter said, silver and gold have I none; but in the name of
Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and
lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. And he
leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and
leaping and praising God”. Peter’s shadow healed all that it came in contact with.
Paul raised the dead. Philip was translated from one place to another.
As we pray in the name of Jesus, we will see our authority flowing in our life. Pray is
asking God to come into our situation. II Chronicles 7:14 says “if My people which
are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and
turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin,
and will heal their land”. We are told to pray without ceasing. We are to pray for
those that hurt us, and for all in authority over us. Jesus said you have not because
you ask not.
Romans 5:17 says “for if by one man’s offense (Adam) death reigned by one, much
more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall
reign in life by One, Jesus Christ”.
People are waiting for God to do something, but Isaiah 54:17 says “no weapon that is
formed against you, shall prosper and every tongue that shall rise against you in
judgment, you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord
Yahweh, and their righteousness is of Me, says the Lord Yahweh”. Even Job said
“You shall also decree a thing, and it shall be established to you, and the lights shall
shine upon your ways” (Job 22:28). After all we have been made kings and priests to
God and His Father (Revelation 1:6). Jesus is the King of kings and we are the kings
that He is the King of.
Let us understand our dominion and authority, and rise up, and turn our world upside
down.
