Oh the Blood of Jesus
We can live our life understanding what the blood of Jesus has done for us; in other
words living life in what Jesus completed for us (John 3:16-17) “for God so loved the
world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not
perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn
the world, but that the world through Him might be saved”.
Jesus by His own blood has entered in once and for all into the holy place, having
obtained eternal redemption for us (Hebrews 9:11-14), “but Christ being come an high
priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with
hands, that is to say, not of this building. Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but
by His own blood He entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal
redemption for us. For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of a heifer
sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies to the purifying of the flesh. How much more shall the
blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself with spot to God, purge
your conscience from dead works to serve the living God”.
Jesus said on the cross “it is finished” and again “I have finished the work which You
gave Me to do” (John 17:4). God has already done His part, and is waiting for us to
walk in our authority. We are not waiting for God, but we have to believe that Jesus
has completed His work. Remember that the Bible says “as a man thinks in his heart,
so is he” (Proverbs 23:7).
As we meditate on the finished work of Jesus and realize that He did it to save mankind
(Romans 5:8-11,17-19), “but God commends His love toward us, in that, while we were
yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we
shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if, when we were enemies, we were
reconciled to God by the death of His Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be
saved by His life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus
Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. For if by one man’s offence
(Adam) death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and
of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by One, Jesus Christ. Therefore as by the
offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation, even so by the
righteousness of One, the free gift came upon all men to justification of life. For as by
one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of One shall
many be made righteous”.
God has already completed everything, our justification, redemption, and
sanctification. We have an everlasting covenant. The agreement God has made with
mankind, is based on the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ (Hebrews 10:16-
20), “this is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord, I
will put My law into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them. And their sins and
iniquities will I remember no more. Now where remission of these is, there is no more
offering for sin. Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the
blood of Jesus. By anew and living way, which He has consecrated for us, through the
veil, that is to say, His flesh”. The Israelites didn’t enter in because of their unbelief.
Remember that 10 of the 12 spies came back after spying out the land with an evil
report, causing all Israel to wonder in the wilderness 40 years (Numbers 13-14).
We are saved by grace through faith; God has provided grace for salvation for all
mankind, but they must mix it with faith to walk in it (Hebrews 4:1-3) says, “let us
therefore fear; less a promise, being left us of entering into His rest, any of you should
seem to come short of it. for to us was the gospel preached, as well as to them, but
the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
for we which have believed do enter into rest, as He said, as I have sworn in My wrath,
if they shall enter into My rest; although the works were finished from the foundation of
the world.
Jesus is our Passover lamb; so we can apply His blood over our circumstances. Just
as the Passover blood sealed the Israelites from the death angel, the blood of Jesus
seals the believers (Ephesians 1:3), “the gospel of your salvation, in whom also after
that you believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise”.
Salvation is not only being saved to go to heaven, but also living a victorious life here;
one must stand on the promises of God and not let go. Jesus said that “the thief
comes only but to steal, kill and destroy, but I am come to give you life and life more
abundantly (John 10:10), the good news is that Jesus and His work is finished.
Remember that there is therefore now, no condemnation to them which are in Christ
Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life
in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death” (Romans 8:1-2). We
have been forgiven of all our sins, past, present and future, and if we sin we can use 1
John 1:9 “if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to
cleanse us from all unrighteousness”. Remind the devil of this when he tries to
condemn you.
I Corinthians 1:30 says “but of Him are you in Christ Jesus, who of God is made to us
wisdom, righteousness and sanctification and redemption”. We have been made the
righteousness of God in Christ. Justified meaning made right with God, just as if we
had never sinned. When God justifies, He charges the sin of mankind to Christ and
credits the righteousness of Christ to the believer (II Corinthians 5:17-21), “therefore if
any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all
things are become new. And all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself
by Jesus Christ, and has given to us the ministry of reconciliation. To say, that God
was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them;
and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for
Christ, as though God did beseech you by us; we pray you in Christ’s stead, be you
reconciled to God. for He has made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we
might be made the righteousness of God in Him”.
Because this righteousness is “the righteousness of God” which is apart from the law;
a believer is “justified from all things” (Ephesians 2:11-13), “wherefore remember, that
you being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called uncircumcision by that
which is called circumcision in the flesh made by hands. That at that time you were
without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the
covenants of promise, having no hope, and with out God n the world. But now in
Christ Jesus you who sometimes were far off are made near by the blood of Christ”.
We have hold firm to this truth; and stop feeling condemned or unworthy. Redemption
is deliverance by payment of a price, which is also called an atoning sacrifice, “a
propitiation by His blood”. Believers are exhorted to remember the “price” of their
redemption as a motivation to personal holiness (I Corinthians 6:19-20), “what? Know
you not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have
of God, and you are not your own? For you are bought with a price; therefore glorify
God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s”.
The Bible tells us that “without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin”
(Hebrews 9:22). Our cleansing from sin is made possible only by the death and
resurrection of Jesus Christ; we are sanctified in Christ Jesus. The song “Oh the blood
of Jesus” is so profound when you meditate on its words; Oh the blood of Jesus, Oh
the blood of Jesus, Oh the blood of Jesus, it makes me white as snow”. Apply the
blood of Jesus over your circumstances. Plead the blood over your life. Keep yourself
under the blood at all times.
