Making Jesus Your Lord

Making Jesus your Lord, may seem to be hard to do, but our part is to surrender and
He does the work (Hebrews 12:2) “looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of our
faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the
shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God”; and (James 4:7-
8,10) which says “submit yourselves therefore to God, resist the devil, and he will
flee from you.  Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.  Cleanse your hands,
you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double minded.  Humble yourselves in the
sight of the Lord, and He shall lift you up”.

The apostle Paul encourages believers to renew their minds (Romans 12:1-2) “I
beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your
bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
And be not conformed to this world; but be you transformed by the renewing of your
mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of
God”.  Remember that when we make Jesus our Lord, we became a new creature,
old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.  And all things are of
God, who has reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ.

The Bible tells us that “it is not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the
Lord Yahweh of hosts”.

Many people say they are following Jesus, but Jesus tells us how we can know for
sure (Matthew 7:21- 27) “not every one that says to Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into
the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of My Father which is in heaven.
Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in You in name?
And in Your name have cast out devils?  And in Your name done many wonderful
works?  And then will I profess to them, I never knew you; depart from Me, you that
work iniquity.  Therefore, whosoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does then, I
will liken him to a wise man, which built his house upon a rock.  And the rain
descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house;
and it fell not; for it was founded upon a rock.  And every one that hears these
sayings of Mine, and does them not, shall be likened to a foolish man, which built his
house upon the sand.  And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds
blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell; and great was the fall of it”.

They are being deceived into thinking that they can get to God another way.  Jesus
Himself declared in John 14:6 “I am, the way, the truth, and the life; no man comes to
the Father, but by Me”.  Again as Jesus was in the garden of Gethsemane, He
prayed and asked the Father saying “O My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass
from Me?  Nevertheless not as I will, but as You will. He went away again the second
time, and prayed, saying O My Father, if this cup may not pass away from Me, except
I drink it, Your will be done.  And He left them, and went away again and prayed the
third time, saying the same words” (Matthew 36:39,42,44).  Jesus prayed three times
that if there were another way?  But agreed with the Father to go to the cross,
because there was no other way.  God’s will to redeem mankind back to Himself,
there had to be someone who would pay the price.  And I Corinthians 6:19-20 it says
“what? Know you not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you,
which you have of God, and you are not your own?  For you are brought with a
price; therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s”.

There are also people who claim to love Jesus.  Not everyone that says that they
love Jesus are talking about the same Jesus.  Remember that Jesus warned us that
there will be many who claim to be Jesus, deceiving many (Matthew 24:4-5) “and
Jesus answered and said to them, take heed that no man deceive you.  For many
shall come in My name saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many”.

We are living in the last days, Jesus warned us that there would be much deception;
and we can see all the different religions claiming that they know the way to God, but
they haven’t made Jesus their Lord.  The Jehovah witnesses say that Jesus is a
good man, but refuse to make Him their God.  The Mormons say that Jesus is one of
many sons of God, and the brother of the devil, and that they too can become god;
but they refuse to make Jesus their Lord.  The Muslims says that God has no son,
they do recognize Jesus as a prophet, but their Jesus is coming back to proclaim that
he lied and have been converted to Islam.

We have to be careful and Jesus asked His disciples “who do men say that He is?”
that is the question that we all should be able to answer.  The way you answer that
question will determine if you can stand to the end.  Remember when many of His
disciples left Him; and He asked the twelve whether they would leave too?  And Peter
said, where can we go for You have the words of eternal life.  And we believe and
are sure that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God” (John 6:67-69).

Again Jesus shows us who loves Him, in John 14:21-24 which says “he that has My
commandments, and keeps them, he it is that loves Me; and he that loves Me shall
be loved of My Father, and I will manifest Myself to him.  Judas said to Him, not
Iscariot, Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?
Jesus answered and said to him, if a man love Me, he will keep My words; and My
Father will love him, and We will come to him, and make Our abode with him.  He that
loves Me not, keeps not My sayings; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but
the Father’s which sent Me.”

We are instructed in Ephesians 5:1-11 “be you therefore followers of God, as dear
children.  And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us, and have given Himself for
us an offering and a sacrifice to God, for a sweet smelling savor.  But fornication,
and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as
becomes saints.  Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not
convenient; but rather giving of thanks.  For this you know, that no whoremonger,
nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the
kingdom of Christ and of God.  Let no man deceive you with vain words; for because
of these things comes the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.  Be not
you therefore partakers with them.  For you were sometimes darkness, but now are
you light in the Lord, walk as children of light.  For the fruit of the Spirit is in all
goodness and righteousness and truth.  Proving what is acceptable to the Lord.  And
have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them”.

We are to put on the armor of God, because we cannot do this on our own
(Ephesians 6:10-18) “finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of
His might.  Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the
wiles of the devil.  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against
spiritual wickedness in high places.  Wherefore take to you the whole armor of God,
that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand.
Stand therefore, having your lions girt about with truth, and having on the
breastplate of righteousness.  And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel
of peace.  Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith you shall be able to quench
all the fiery darts of the wicked.  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of
the Spirit, which is the word of God.  Praying always with all prayer and supplication
in the Spirit, and watching thereto with all perseverance and supplication for all
saints”.
