God’s Words in Your Mouth

The apostle Paul reveals in Romans 10:6-10 “but the righteousness which is of
faith speaks on this wise.  Say not in your heart, who shall ascend into heaven?
(that is to bring Christ down from above).  Or, who shall descend into the deep
(that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead).  But what says it?  The word in
near you, even in your mouth, and in your heart; that is, the word of faith, which
we preach.  That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall
believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be
saved.  For with the heart man believes to righteousness; and with the mouth
confession is made to salvation”.

Psalms 68:11 says “the Lord gave the word; great was the company of those
that published it”.  As we proclaim the word of God, we are returning His word
back to Him, and His word does not return to Him void, but it accomplishes all
that it was set out to do.

When we do this, we are putting on the new man, believing what the Bible says
about us and speaking it out of our mouth.  We have to come in agreement with
the word of God.

Speaking is an action of faith (II Corinthians 4:13) which says “we having the
same spirit of faith, according as it is written.  I believed, and therefore have I
spoken, we also believe, and therefore speak”.  Faith speaks what it believes.
The apostle Paul quotes from Psalms 116; David was declaring that God had
delivered him (Psalms 116:1-4,8-10) “I love the Lord Yahweh, because He has
heard my voice and my supplications.  Because He has inclined His ear to me,
therefore will I call upon Him as long as I live.  The sorrows of death compassed
me, and the pains of hell got hold upon me; I found trouble and sorrow.  Then
called I upon the name of the Lord Yahweh; O Lord Yahweh, I beseech You,
deliver my soul.  For You have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from
tears, and my feet from falling.  I will walk before the Lord Yahweh in the land of
the living.  I believed, therefore have I spoken; I was greatly afflicted”.  We too
have to declare what we believe.

When we speak the word of God with boldness, we sound just like Jesus and
Psalms 103:20 says “bless the Lord Yahweh, you His angels, that excel in
strength, that do His commandments, hearkening to the voice of His word”.  We
give voice to the word of God when we say what He said.

Proverbs 18:20-21 says “a man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his
mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.  Death and life are in
the power of the tongue; and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof”.  Jesus
explained to us that the word of God is seed; seeds of live.

Jesus says in Matthew 12:34-37 “O generation of vipers, how can you, being
evil, speak good things?  For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth
speaks.  A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings forth good
things; and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.  But I say
to you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account
thereof in the day of judgment.  For by your words you shall be justified, and by
your words you shall be condemned”.

Jesus as our example used the word of God to defeat the devil in His wilderness
testing.  After Jesus was baptized, as He came up out of the water; a voice from
heaven, saying this is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.  Then it says
in (Matthew 4:1-11) “then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be
tempted of the devil.  And when He had fasted forth days and forth nights, He
was afterward hungry.  And when the tempter came to Him, he said, if You be
the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.  But He answered
and said, it is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that
proceeds out of the mouth of God.  Then the devil takes Him up into the holy
city, and sets Him on a pinnacle of the temple.  And says to Him, if You be the
Son of God, cast Yourself down; for it is written, He shall give His angels charge
concerning You; and in their hands they shall bear You up, less at any time You
dash Your foot against a stone.  Jesus said to him, it is written again; you shall
not tempt the Lord your God.  Again, the devil takes Him up into an exceeding
high mountain, and shows Him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of
them.  And says to Him, all these things will I give You, if You will fall down and
worship me.  Then says Jesus to him, get you from here satan, for it is written,
you shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve.  Then the
devil leaves Him, and, behold, angels came and ministered to Him”.

We are told to be you therefore followers, imitators of God as dear children in
Ephesians 5:1.  We grieve the Holy Spirit when we let all kinds of things come
out of our mouth.  Ephesians 4:29 says “let no corrupt communication proceed
out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may
minister grace to the hearers”.

The apostle Paul writes to Philemon and prays for him (Philemon 1:3-6) “grace
to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.  I thank my
God, making mention of you always in my prayers.  Hearing of your love and
faith, which you have toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints.  That the
communication of your faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of
every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus”.  We have to read the word of
God and see what the Bible says that we have in Christ and then believe and
speak it out.
