Genuine Trust

The Bible tells us in Proverbs 3:5-10 “trust in the Lord Yahweh with all your
heart; and lean not to your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge
Him, and He shall direct your paths.  Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the
Lord Yahweh, and depart from evil.  It shall be health to your navel, and
marrow to your bones.  Honor the Lord Yahweh with your substance; and with
the first fruits of all your increase.  So shall your barns be filled with plenty,
and your presses shall burst out with new wine”.  Many people say that they
are trusting in God, yet they sometimes lean to their own understanding.

Trusting God is believing His words and standing upon it.  The three Hebrew
boys went into the fire trusting God; (Daniel 3).  Daniel went into the lion’s den
trusting God; (Daniel 6).

Abraham trusted God in Romans 4:17-21 says “as it is written, I have made
you a father of many nations, before Him whom he believed, even God, who
makes alive the dead, and calls those things which be not as though they
were.  Who against hope believed in hope; that he might become the father of
many nations, according to that which was spoken, so shall your seed be.
And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when
he was about a hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s
womb.  He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was
strong in faith, giving glory to God.  And being fully persuaded that, what He
had promised, He was able also to perform”.  Again when he was tested, to
sacrifice his son as a burst offering (Hebrews 11:17-19) “by faith Abraham,
when he was tried, offered up Isaac; and he that had received the promises
offered up his only begotten son.  Of whom it was said, that in Isaac shall your
seed be called.  Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the
dead; from where also he received him in a figure”.

Lets look at Joseph (Genesis 38-41) Joseph had a dream and he trusted God
to perform it; and even though he was thrown into a pit, then sold as a slave in
Egypt, falsely accused and thrown into prison, he trusted God and God was
with him through it all, and his dream did come to pass as he was raised up to
second in command in Egypt.

Stephen in Acts 6-7, he was a devout man full of the Spirit of God, he was
envied and they stirred up the people against him, and he trusted God and
even though they stoned him, he looked up into heaven and committed his
spirit to the Lord; and asked the Lord not to hold it against them.  You see
Stephen knew that absent from the body he would be present with the Lord.

The apostle Paul went through many things, and suffered much, he was
stoned, and left for dead, received many stripes, shipwrecked, yet he
proclaimed that he had kept the faith, and finished his course.  Paul trusted
God to the end.

Jesus tells us in Mark 11:22-24 “and Jesus answering said to them, have faith
in God.  For verily I say to you, that whosoever shall say to this mountain, be
you removed, and be you cast into the sea, and shall not doubt in his heart,
but shall believe that those things which he says shall come to pass, he shall
have whatsoever he says.  Therefore I say to you, what things so ever you
desire, when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have
them”.

Trusting and faith is similar because faith is believing the word of God and
acting upon it.

We have to meditate on the word of God until it becomes so real to us that we
become fully persuaded that what God has said, He is able to perform.

The devil tries to break down genuine trust by getting people into un-
forgiveness, in Matthew 6:14-15 the Bible says “for if you forgive men their
trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.  But if you forgive not
men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses”.  Also
in Mark 11:25-26 it says “and when you stand praying, forgive, if you have
anything against any that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you
your trespasses.  But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in
heaven forgive your trespasses”.

When you are in un-forgiveness, you are not trusting in God; because you
are trying to handle the situation by yourself.  The Bible says many times
“vengeance is Mine says the Lord” (Lev. 19:18) and (Romans 12:19) says
“dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is
written, vengeance is Mine, I will repay, says the Lord”.

Lets be like Joseph, who was able to go from the pit to the palace because he
trusted in God; and did not try to avenge himself.
