Following the Spirit   (Romans 5:1-15, Galatians 5:16-25)

Yield to the Holy Spirit (yield means to submit to).  James says it like this “submit
yourself therefore to God, resist the devil, and he (the devil) will flee from you.
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you” (James 4:7-8).

Everyone can go to another level in God.

Everyday we yield to either God or the world, there is no middle ground.

Loosen up – you cannot be in control and yield to the Holy Spirit at the same
time.  Relinquish control.  Listen to the still small voice of your inner man.  Pursue
Him.
a.        Will the Holy Spirit override natural circumstances?  Yes
b.        Will the Holy Spirit always be of your understanding?  No
c.        Will the Holy Spirit override the written word of God?  No
Find your own company (Acts 4:23-24,31) Paul says “being let go, they went to
their own company and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to
them.”  They then prayed a corporate pray for strength and boldness.
Christianity is a team effort.
Pray –
d.        Corporate prayer will speeds up your answer. (Matthew 18:19)  come into
agreement.
e.        Worshiping the Lord
f.        Praying in faith.  Prayer is talking, listening, and obeying God.  Prayer
brings us into the throne room of God..
Be obedient to what you hear.  Remember Jesus’ mother, told the servants, to do
whatever He says when she told Jesus about the wine being out.
g.        Test what you hear, by the word of God.  John 16:13 says “when He the
Spirit of truth, is come.  He will guide you into all truth; for He shall not speak of
Himself, but whatever He shall hear that shall He speak; and He will show you
things to come.
h.        Don’t mind taking risk.  If you make a mistake, the Spirit will tell you.
i.        Do what you know to do.  Ephesians 4:30-32 tell us “grieve not the Holy
Spirit of God, whereby you are sealed to the day of redemption.  Let all
bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking be put away
from you, with all malice.  And be you kind one to another tenderhearted,
forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake has forgiven you.”
