Consider Not
We are told that Abraham is the father of us all. Therefore he is a great
example for us to follow.
Abram was called of God to go out from where he was and God made him a
promise (Genesis 12:1-3), which says “now the Lord Yahweh had said to
Abram, get you out of your country, and from your kindred, and from your father’
s house, to a land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation,
and I will bless you, and make your name great, and you shall be a blessings.
And I will bless them that bless you, and curse them that curses you, and in you
shall all families of the earth be blessed”. And as you read verse 4a it says “so
Abram departed, as the Lord Yahweh had spoken to him”. Abram considered
not where he was going, but he followed God.
Hebrews 11:8-10 says “by faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a
place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed, and he went
out, not knowing where he went. By faith he sojourned in the land of promise,
as in a strange country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with
him of the same promise. For he looked for a city which has foundations,
whose builder and maker is God”.
We see in Romans 4:13,16-25 gives us great details; it says “for the promise
that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed,
through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. Therefore it is of faith,
that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed;
not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of faith of Abraham,
who is the father of us all. As it is written, I have made you a father of many
nations, before Him whom he believed, even God, who makes alive the dead,
and calls those things which be not as though they were. Who against hope
believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to
that which was spoken. So shall your seed be. And being not weak in faith, he
considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years
old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb. He staggered not at the
promise of God through unbelief, but was strong I faith, giving glory to God.
And being fully persuaded that what He had promised, He was able also to
perform. And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. Now it was not
written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him. But for us also, to whom it
shall be imputed, if we believe on Him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the
dead. Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our
justification”.
Abraham was again tested, and remained strong in faith, believing God. This
was when he was asked of God to sacrifice Isaac as a brunt offering; (Hebrews
11:17-19) “by faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac; and he that
had received the promises offered up his only begotten son. Of whom it was
said, That in Isaac shall your seed be called. Accounting that God was able to
raise him up, even from the dead; from where also he received him in a figure”.
We gave to take the promises of God in this manner, after all Galatians 3:29
says “and if you be Christ’s, then are you Abraham’s seed, and heirs according
to the promise”.
The promises are ours through Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:10,12-14) “for we are
His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to good works, which God has before
ordained that we should walk in them. That at that time you were without Christ,
being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the
covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world. But now
in Christ Jesus you who sometimes were far off are made near by the blood of
Christ. For He is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the
middle wall of partition between us”.
We are to be come to the altar in boldness of faith (Hebrews 10:35-36) “casting
not away therefore your confidence, which has great recompense of reward.
For you have need of patience, that after you have done the will of God, you
might receive the promise”.
But the problem with the world today is that when we read a promise of God,
many try to consider how it will happen, and that actually removes God from the
equation. But Jesus taught in Mark 4:26-29 about the kingdom of God; it says
“and He said, so is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the
ground. And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring
and grow up, he knows not how. For the earth brings forth fruit of itself, first the
blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear. But when the fruit is
brought forth immediately he puts in the sickle because the harvest is come”.
II Corinthians 1:20 tells us “for all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in
Him Amen, to the glory of God by us”.
Acts 2:39 lets us know that the promise didn’t stop at the apostles; it says “for
the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as
many as the Lord our God shall call”. This includes us today.
When we read “by the stripes of Jesus we are healed”, lets not consider our
body, but believe the word of God. When we read that “God has blessed us
with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ” let us not consider our
bank account.
We have to be like Abraham and become fully persuaded that what God have
promised, He also is able to perform. Lets look at Isaiah 55:8-11, God says to
us “for My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says
the Lord Yahweh. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My
ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts. For as the
rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and returns not there, but waters
the earth, and makes it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower,
and bread to the eater. So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth; it
shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it
shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it”. We return His words to Him by
believing and then speaking them.
