All That is Within Me

Scripture Reading: Psalm 34:1-10

1 I will bless the LORD at all times;
       His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2 My soul shall make its boast in the LORD;
       The humble shall hear of it and be glad.
3 Oh, magnify the LORD with me,
       And let us exalt His name together.

4 I sought the LORD, and He heard me,
       And delivered me from all my fears.
5 They looked to Him and were radiant,
       And their faces were not ashamed.
6 This poor man cried out, and the LORD heard him,
       And saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The angel of the LORD encamps all around those who fear Him,
       And delivers them.

8 Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good;
       Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!
9 Oh, fear the LORD, you His saints!
       There is no want to those who fear Him.
10 The young lions lack and suffer hunger;
       But those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing.

This psalm has an interesting origin.  It is from when David pretended to be crazy so
he could survive.  You would think that would’ve been a time of mourning and
questioning but even with the difficulties in his life at the time, David penned this
song of blessing and praise.  He vowed to bless YHWH at all times and to always
have his praise in his mouth.  We talked about praise last week being more than just
singing and this is what David saying here.  Blessing Him and praising Him is an all
the time thing.  He speaks of magnifying the LORD and you might wonder why He
would need to be magnified.  I believe that this magnification is for our benefit not
any sort of arrogance from Him as the world seems to think.

Unfortunately, many believers have a very small ‘God’ that fits in this small little box
that they can put in their pocket to pull out when they feel they need it.  Maybe once
a week in a worship service, or when they get themselves into some kind of trouble,
or maybe even if something exciting happens they can say, “Oh, God!”  But God is
much bigger than the boxes man attempts to put Him into.  And when we don’t
magnify Him, we are the one who miss out on all the things He wants for us.

Psalm 103:1-5
1 Bless the LORD, O my soul;
       And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul,
       And forget not all His benefits:
3 Who forgives all your iniquities,
       Who heals all your diseases,
4 Who redeems your life from destruction,
       Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
       So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Those are a lot of benefits, aren’t they?  He forgives all our iniquities, heals all our
diseases, redeems our life from destruction, crowns us with kindness and mercy,
and satisfies us with good things so our youth is renewed like the eagle.  Wow!  But
that’s only if we let Him out of that little ‘God’ box.  All that is within me, is to bless the
holy name of YHWH.  Everything.  It should not be some once in a while thing.  Not if
you want to taken advantage of all He has for you.  Unfortunately, many believers
don’t know what it is to bless.

Numbers 6:22-27
22 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying: 23 “Speak to Aaron and his sons,
saying, ‘This is the way you shall bless the children of Israel. Say to them:
24 “The LORD bless you and keep you;
25 The LORD make His face shine upon you,
    And be gracious to you;
26 The LORD lift up His countenance upon you,
    And give you peace.”’
27 “So they shall put My name on the children of Israel, and I will bless
them.”

This is called the priestly blessing but many don’t consider that we have been made
priests of God Most High.  The Jews use this to bless their children and the world
gets jealous.  They wonder why it is that they seem so prosperous because they do
not understand the principles behind this blessing.  You see, as we bless others this
way, we are putting the name of YHWH on them, as believers, and He will bless
them.  It’s like a formula.  You don’t have to concern yourself with how it works but
just knowing that it works is enough.  People bless others but usually only if they
sneeze.  We should be speaking this blessing over our children, our spouses, our
friends and family as often as we have the opportunity.  It needs to become a part of
our vocabulary to where we just do it.  I know my children have come to the point
where they will stand and wait for it in the times where I may be a bit distracted.  So,
now that we have a better understanding of how to bless others, let’s consider how
we bless God.

Genesis 14:18-20
18 Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the
priest of God Most High. 19 And he blessed him and said:

    “ Blessed be Abram of God Most High,
    Possessor of heaven and earth;
20 And blessed be God Most High,
    Who has delivered your enemies into your hand.”
 And he gave him a tithe of all.

God was blessed by Abram having victory over his enemies.  He wants us to be
victorious too.  He is blessed when we walk in victory over sin and all the
strongholds that would keep us defeated.  How do you think He feels when though
Hi people have the power living in them that raised Yeshua, they continue living
lives where sin and stronghold still control them?

Deuteronomy 8:6-10
6 “Therefore you shall keep the commandments of the LORD your God, to walk
in His ways and to fear Him. 7 For the LORD your God is bringing you into a
good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, that flow out of
valleys and hills; 8 a land of wheat and barley, of vines and fig trees and
pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey; 9 a land in which you will eat
bread without scarcity, in which you will lack nothing; a land whose stones
are iron and out of whose hills you can dig copper. 10 When you have eaten
and are full, then you shall bless the LORD your God for the good land which
He has given you.

He wants us to keep His commandments, enter into His Promised Land, eat and be
full.  In that He will be blessed.  Too many believe that serving God means being as
poor and pitiful as you can be, but that’s not it at all.  He wants us to live satisfied,
victorious lives.  I know that it will bless me to see my children living well as they go
out on their own.  It won’t be about what job they have or how much money they
have but will be about them enjoying life and living it to the fullest.

2 Chronicles 9:8 - Blessed be the LORD your God, who delighted in you, setting
you on His throne to be king for the LORD your God! Because your God has
loved Israel, to establish them forever, therefore He made you king over them,
to do justice and righteousness.”

YHWH delights in us as any good parent does.

Psalm 68:19 - Blessed be the Lord,
       Who daily loads us with benefits,
       The God of our salvation!  Selah

He doesn’t want even one to perish so He is blessed in our salvation and as we
bring others to Him so they can be saved.

Luke 1:68-69
     68 “ Blessed is the Lord God of Israel,
    For He has visited and redeemed His people,
     69 And has raised up a horn of salvation for us
    In the house of His servant David

He is blessed in our redemption and in our acceptance of the great gift of salvation
He has given to us in Yeshua.

Daniel 2:17-19
17 Then Daniel went to his house, and made the decision known to Hananiah,
Mishael, and Azariah, his companions, 18 that they might seek mercies from
the God of heaven concerning this secret, so that Daniel and his companions
might not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. 19 Then the secret
was revealed to Daniel in a night vision. So Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

He wants us to seek revelation from Him and to gain understanding of His
mysteries.

Luke 2:27-32
27 So he came by the Spirit into the temple. And when the parents brought in
the Child Jesus, to do for Him according to the custom of the law, 28 he took
Him up in his arms and blessed God and said:
     29 “ Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace,
    According to Your word;
     30 For my eyes have seen Your salvation
     31 Which You have prepared before the face of all peoples,
     32 A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles,
    And the glory of Your people Israel.”

Simeon understanding the revelation He had given him and being there to hold
Messiah, blessed God.  People seeing and recognizing the light of Yeshua which He
has brought to the whole world, blesses God.  He is blessed in the glory of His
people.  Not that we should be arrogant and seek glory for ourselves, but that we
would walk in His righteousness and keep His commandments so that HE can exalt
and glorify us.

Ephesians 1:3-6
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us
with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 just as He
chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy
and without blame before Him in love, 5 having predestined us to adoption as
sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6 to
the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the
Beloved.

He has blessed us with every spiritual blessing.  My children may buy or make me
little presents and that’s nice, but I am truly blessed when I see them walking
righteously and doing the thing they know they should do.  God wants to see the
same in us.

Psalm 37:4 - Delight yourself also in the LORD,
       And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
