Abundance of Your Heart

The Bible tells us what should be in our hearts (Deuteronomy 11:18-21) “therefore
shall you lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a
sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.  And you
shall teach them your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, and
when you walk by the way, when you lay down, and when you rise up.  And you
shall write them upon the door posts of your house, and upon your gates.  That
your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the
Lord Yahweh swear to your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the
earth”.  Keeping His words in your heart, and teaching it to your children, speaking
of it day and night, will abundantly fill your heart with the word of God.  This sounds
what God told Joshua in Joshua 1:8 “this book of the law shall not depart out of
your mouth, but you shall meditate therein day and night, that you may observe to
do according to all that is written therein, for then you shall make your way
prosperous, and then you shall have good success”.

We build up abundantly the things in our heart by “hiding the word of God in our
heart” (Psalms 119:11).  Remember that the word of God is a lamp to our feet and
a light to our path.

Jesus says that we will speak out of the abundance of our heart (Matthew 12:34-
37) O generation of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things?  For out of
the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.  A good man out of the good
treasure of the heart brings forth good things; and an evil man out of the evil
treasure brings forth evil things.  But I say to you, that every idle word that men
shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.  For by your
words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned”.  In order
for His word to be abundantly in our heart, we have to spend some time with Him,
reading and studying His word.

Some way ask, how can we have good treasure in our heart?  I have come up with
four R’s, so you can remember the principle better.  Read, Retain, Recite, Rule:

Read – read your Bible; it is the last will and testament written for your benefit.  You
won’t know what was given to you, if you don’t read it.  Jesus said “if you continue
in My word, then are you My disciple indeed.  And you shall know the truth, and the
truth shall make you free” (John 8:31-32); and then also in John 15:7 “if you abide
in Me and My words abide in you, you shall ask what you will and it shall be done to
you”.  Remember that “faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God”.
Reading the word of God aloud, will triple the effect of the word, you will see it,
speak it, and hear it.  You have to read the Bible to know what is written therein.
The Bible is will of God; the will is written for us.

Retain – meditate on the word of God; we have to ponder and rehearse what God
has said.  Remember that God’s word is the truth.  Acknowledge that  God lives in
you (Philemon 6) says “that the communication of your faith may become effectual
by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus”.  Then we
see our benefits in Psalms 103:2-5 it says “bless the Lord Yahweh, O my soul, and
forget not all His benefits.  Who forgives all your iniquities, who heal all your
diseases.  Who redeems your life from destruction, who crowns you with loving
kindness and tender mercies.  Who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that
your youth is renewed like the eagles”.  You are supposed to “let the word of Christ
dwell in you richly in all wisdom” (Colossians 3:16a).

Recite – speak the word of God (Psalms 116:10 and II Corinthians 4:13) says “I
believed therefore have I spoken”.  Also Psalms 68:11 says “the Lord Yahweh gave
the word, great was the company of those that proclaim it”; proclaim means
declare, speak.  And then Psalms 107:2 says “let the redeemed of the Lord
Yahweh say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy”; we are
supposed to tell the enemy what God has redeemed you from; look back at Psalms
103:2-5.  We are supposed to believe and speak the word of God over all
circumstances.  Remember that Jesus defeated the devil in the wilderness by
saying “it is written”.  Jesus also taught us the “He only speaks what He hears His
Father say”.  We should speak the word of God in our life, because the word of
God is life.  Proverbs 13:2 says “a man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth, but
the soul of the transgression shall eat violence”; and Proverbs 15:4 says “a
wholesome tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness therein is a breach in the
spirit”.   Check up on what you are saying, because the Bible tells us that iron
sharpens iron, ask someone to listen and make you aware of anything you say that
is not of God.  You will be surprised, then you can practice more earnestly what
you say.  Remember that death and life are in the power of the tongue; you are
either speaking death or life.  God told us to choose life, so we and our children
can leave.

Rule – take the authority which Jesus gave to us (Luke 10:19).  Remember that
Jesus gave us the keys of the kingdom, and said that whatsoever you shall bind on
earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatsoever we loose on earth shall be loosed
in heaven (Matthew 16:19, and 18:18).  You have to bind the word of God in your
lives and loose what the devil is trying to bring into your life (Mark 11:22-24) states
we have to speak to the mountain and tell it where to go, but people are begging
God to do what He gave us authority to do.

Jesus said “the word is seed” and “the words that I speak to you, there are spirit
and they are life”.  We have to take the word of God and plant it in our heart, and
that seed will grow in abundance.  In the parable of the sower, the good ground is
the heart of man (Matthew 13:23) “but he that received seed into the good ground
is he that hears the word, and understands it, which also bears fruit, and brings
forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty”.

Your words create your lifestyle.  Keep God’s word in your heart and in your
mouth.  Make it a way of life (Proverbs 4:20-23).

We have to feed our spirit man on the word of God.  Jesus said “it is written, that
man shall not leave by bread alone, but by every word of God” (Luke 4:4).
Galatians 3:29 tells us “if you be Christ’s, then are you Abraham’s seed and heirs
according to the promise”, but as we continue to read chapter 4:1-2 says “now I
say, that the heir, as long as he is a child, differ nothing from a servant, though he
be lord of all.  But is under tutors and governors, until the time appointed of the
father”.  Just like a minor cannot receive their inheritance until they become of
age.  As we became born again, we were children of God, we are told to grow up
into Christ likeness.  We have to mature, to receive our inheritance in it’s fullness.

Most people eat three meals a day to feed their bodies, but some only read their
Bible once or twice a week to feed their spirit man.  This type of lifestyle will make
their bodies stronger than their spirit man and will keep them defeated.  Remember
that whoever you feed the most will be the strongest.  In order to resist the devil,
your spirit man must be strongest.  And because you have an adversary the devil
roaming around seeking whom he may devour, prepare your self by feeding your
spirit man.  Remember (II Corinthians 4:16) says “for which cause we faint not, but
though our  outward man (the body) is perishing, but your inward man (the spirit
man) is being renewed day by day”.

God’s word in your mouth is bringing the supernatural into your life.  Let us
examine ourselves to see what is abundantly in our heart, by what we are letting
come out of our mouth.
