A Place Called There
A site or location. I know that you have heard many times, where someone was
in the right place at the right time.
Let us look at Isaac, he got a word from God about his place called there, and
as he obeyed (Genesis 26:1-6, 12-14) says “and there was a famine in the
land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went
to Abimelech king of the Philistines to Gerar. And the Lord Yahweh appeared
to him, and said, go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell you
of. Sojourn in this land, and I will be with you, and will bless you; for to you,
and to your seed. I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which
I swear to Abraham your father. And I will make your seed to multiply as the
stars of heaven, and will give to your seed all these countries; and in your seed
shall all the nations of the earth be blessed. Because that Abraham obeyed
My voice, and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws.
And Isaac dwelt in Gerar. Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the
same year an hundredfold; and the Lord Yahweh blessed him. And the man
waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great. For he
had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of
servants, and the Philistines envied him”.
Elijah the prophet found his place called there; actually he had two. In I Kings
17:1-7 the Bible says “and Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of
Gilead, said to Ahab (the king), As the Lord Yahweh God of Israel lives, before
whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my
word. And the word of the Lord Yahweh came to him, saying. Get you from
here, and turn you eastward, and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, that is
before Jordan. And it shall be, that you shall drink of the brook; and I have
commanded the ravens to feed you there. So he went and did according to
the word of the Lord Yahweh, for he went and dwelled by the brook Cherith,
that is before Jordan. And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the
morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook. And
it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been
no rain in the land”.
In I Kings 17:8-16 that Elijah got another word from the Lord Yahweh. It says
“and the word of the Lord Yahweh came to him, saying. Arise, get you to
Zarephath, which belongs to Zidon, and dwell there; behold, I have
commanded a widow woman there to sustain you. So he arose and went to
Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow
woman was there gathering of sticks, and he called to her, and said, bring me, I
pray you, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink. And as she was going to
bring it, he called to her, and said, bring me, I pray you, a morsel of bread in
your hand. And she said, As the Lord Yahweh your God lives, I have not a
cake, but a handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse; and, behold, I
am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that
we may eat it and die. And Elijah said to her, fear not; go and do as you have
said; but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it to me, and after make
for you and for your son. For thus says the Lord Yahweh God of Israel, the
barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day
that the Lord Yahweh sends rain upon the earth. And she went and did
according to the saying of Elijah; and she, and he, and her house, did eat
many days. And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail,
according to the word of the Lord Yahweh, which He spoke by Elijah”.
Our place of there is found in Jesus Christ. Jesus Himself tells us “abide in Me,
and I in you, as the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine;
no more can you, except you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches;
he that abides in Me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit; for without
Me you can do nothing”.
Ephesians 2:6 tells us that God has raised us up together, and made us sit
together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. And in Ephesians 2:10 it says “for
we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to good works, which God has
before ordained that we should walk in them”.
We are told to walk worthy of the Lord in Colossians 1:10-14 “that you might
walk worthy of the Lord to all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and
increasing in the knowledge of God. Strengthened with all might, according to
His glorious power, to all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness. Giving
thanks to the Father, which has made us meet (qualified) to be partakers of the
inheritance of the saints in light. Who has delivered us from the power of
darkness, and has translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son. In whom we
have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins”.
Many times in the scriptures it says that Jesus healed them there; they were in
the right place at the right time.
The apostle Paul tells them on Mars hill “for in Him we live, and move, and have
our being, as certain also of your own poets have said, for we are also His
offspring” (Acts 17:28).
Even Jesus had a place called there. One place where the Bible says “and
there was power to heal them all” (Luke 5:17). This is when the man sick with
the palsy was healed (Mark 2:1-6) “and again He entered into Capernaum,
after some days; and it was noised that He was in the house. And immediately
many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive
them, no, not so much as about the door; and He preached the word to them.
And they came to Him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.
And when they could not come near to Him, for the press, they uncovered the
roof where He was; and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed
wherein the sick of the palsy lay. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the
sick of the palsy, son, your sins be forgiven you. But there were certain of the
scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts”.
And one place where He could do no miracles there (Mark 6:1-5) “and He went
out from there, and came into His own country; and His disciples follow Him.
And when the Sabbath day was come, He began to teach in the synagogue;
and many hearing Him were astonished, saying, from where has this ma these
things? And what wisdom is this which is given to Him, that even such mighty
works are wrought by His hands? Is not this the carpenter; the son of Mary,
the brother of James, and Joses, and Juda, and Simon? And are not His
sisters here with us? And they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them,
a prophet is not without honor; but in His own country, and among His own kin,
and in His own house. And He could there do no mighty work, save that He laid
His hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them”.
Jesus gives us a promise that we can count on, in Matthew 18:19-20) Jesus
says “again I say to you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching
anything that they shall ask, it shall be don for them of My Father which is in
heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, there am I
in the midst of them”.
Jesus also warns us where to lay up our treasures (Matthew 6:19-21) “lay not
up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust does corrupt,
and where thieves break through and steal. But lay up for yourselves
treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust does corrupt, and where
thieves do not break through nor steal. For where your treasure is, there will
your heart be also”.
In Matthew 7:13-14 Jesus tells us “enter you in at the strait gate; for wide is the
gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many there be which
go in thereat. Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leads to
life, and few there be that find it”.
The apostle Paul tells us the secret; he says that we have to be rooted and
grounded in love. After all God is love, and if we walk in love we walk in God,
and can be at the right place.
