Your Attitude is the Key

Basing your attitude on the word of God is the way to change any problem.  James
tells us “if any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that gives to all men
liberally, and upbraids not, and it shall be given him” (James 1:5).  I have found
that when you ask God a direct question, you will hear His answer.  Remember
that God is on our side, and wants us to prosper and be in health, even as our
soul prospers.

We have to maintain and keep the right attitude when the going gets rough.  As we
realize that rough times does not last forever (Galatians 6:9), “let us not be weary
in well doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not”.

God told Joshua to be of good courage, and to meditate on the word of God, to
keep the word of God in his mouth, meaning to speak the word of God (Joshua 1:5-
9).  Jesus said “I only speak what I have heard and seen from My Father”.  Our
success depends on what our heart is full of.  If the heart is full of worldly things,
and a situation arises, then they will speak what the world says instead of the word
of God.

Achieving an excellent attitude comes from knowing that “God has not given us the
spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (II Timothy 1:7); and
knowing that Jesus has given us power over the enemy (Luke 10:19), “behold, I
give to you power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the
enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you”.

We have the authority to bind ourselves to the things of God and loose ourselves
from the things of the devil.  Knowing and walking in this will give us a good
attitude in any situation, because we have the power to change any situation.
Remember that there is death and life in the power of the tongue.

As we keep in contact with Jesus (John 15:1-11), “I am the true vine, and My
Father is the husbandman.  Every branch in Me that bears not fruit, He takes
away, and every branch that bears fruit, He purges it, that it may bring forth more
fruit.  Now you are clean through the word which I have spoken to you.  Abide in
Me, and I in you, as the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the
vine; no more can you, except you abide in Me.  I am the vine, you are the
branches, he that abides in Me and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit, for
without Me you can do nothing.  If a man abide not in Me, he is cast forth as a
branch, and is withered and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and
they are burned.  If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you shall ask
what you will and it shall be done to you.  Herein is My Father glorified that you
bear much fruit, so shall you be My disciples.  As the Father has loved Me, so
have I loved you, continue you in My love.  If you keep My commandments, you
shall abide in My love; even as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide
in His love.  These things have I spoken to you that My joy might remain in you,
and that your joy might be full”.  Remember that Nehemiah says that the joy of the
Lord is our strength.

We have to think as the Bible says that the finished work of Jesus is already done.
Keeping a spiritual attitude, because the blessings are in spiritual places and we
use our spiritual authority and declare what the Bible says.  Jesus in John 10:10
says “the thief comes not but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy, but I am come
that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”.  The Bible
told us that “God has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in
Christ”.  The word has is past tense.  When we start thinking of ourselves as
“blessed” like the Bible says, instead of going to be blessed, many saints when
they feel something coming at them, they say I am going to be healed.  As long as
they speak in the future, it will not come to pass.  We have to do like God and call
those things that be not as though they are, to bring them to pass.  The Bible tells
us to “let the weak say they are strong”.  The devil steals many blessings by
getting people to think that they will get them instead of that they have them.

As we cultivate a thankful attitude (I Thessalonians 5:16-18), which says “rejoice
evermore.  Pray without ceasing.  In every thing give thanks; for this is the will of
God in Christ Jesus concerning you”.  Psalms 100:4-5 says “enter into His gates
with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise, be thankful to Him, and bless His
name.  For the Lord is good, His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all
generations”.  Psalms 107 echoes in verse 1 “O give thanks to the Lord, for He is
good, and His mercy, endures forever”.

As we find God’s solution to any problem and speak His word over the situation
and watch things change, that is enough to make any one give thanks.  Just look
at how Jesus defeated the devil when He was tested in the wilderness, by saying “it
is written”, then speaking what God said concerning what the devil was tempting
Him with.  Our attitude should be that we can do the same thing.  Remember Jesus
said “verily, verily, I say to you, he that believes on Me, the works that I do shall he
do also; and greater works than these shall he do because I go to My Father”
(John 14:12).

We have to keep our focus on God.  Remember that Peter walked on water until
he took his focus off of Jesus and looked at the problem around him (Matthews 14:
25-31).  In Psalms 37:3-7 says “trust in the Lord Yahweh, and do good, so shall
you dwell in the land, and verily you shall be fed.  Delight yourself also in the Lord
Yahweh, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.  Commit your way to the
Lord Yahweh, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.  And He shall bring
forth your righteousness as the light, and your judgment as the noonday.  Rest in
the Lord Yahweh, and wait patiently for Him, fret not yourself because of him who
prosper in his way, because of the man who brings wicked devices to pass”.  The
four keys is trust, delight, commit, rest.

Our attitude is more than mental attitude.  Sense knowledge, what you see, feel,
hear, touch and taste.  We have to know what is going on in the natural, but not
base our attitude on the natural.  Basing your attitude on the situations around
you, will only magnify the problem.  We don’t deny the problem, but we are to seek
out the solution through God’s word.  Jesus told us to speak to the mountain (Mark
11:22-24), “and Jesus answering said to them, have faith in God.  For verily I say
to you, that whosoever shall say to this mountain, be you removed and be you
cast into the sea and shall not doubt in his hear, but shall believe that those things
which he says shall come to pass, he shall have whatsoever he says.  Therefore I
say to you, what things so ever you desire, when you pray, believe that you
receive them, and you shall have them”.  Remember in this world, they say that
you have to see it to believe it, but in the kingdom of God, you have to believe it
before you will see it.

Some people look at a glass as being half full, while others look at the same glass
as being half empty.  It’s  the same glass, but the attitude of the one look at it as
being half full, has a more positive attitude than the one who is looking at it as
being half empty.
