Walking with God

Walking with God was set and determined by God Himself, before the fall of mankind
Adam walked with God in the cool of the day, however when they fell into the devil’s
trap, they hid themselves from the presence of God (Genesis 3:5) says “and they
heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and
Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the
trees of the garden”.

God came looking for Adam, Genesis 3:9-11 “and the Lord God called to Adam, and
said to him, where are you?  And he said, I heard Your voice in the garden, and I
was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.  And He said, who told you that
you were naked?  Have you eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded you that you
should not eat”?

Through out the Bible we see that many men did walk with God; Enoch walked with
God after he fathered Methuselah three hundred years, and fathered sons and
daughters.  And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years.  And
Enoch walked with God and he was not; for God took him (Genesis 5:22-24); and
see that he pleased God; in Hebrews 11”5 it says “by faith Enoch was translated that
he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him; for
before his translation he had this testimony  that he pleased God”.

Noah walked with God (Genesis 6:8-9) “but Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord
Yahweh.  These are the generation of Noah, Noah was a just man and perfect in his
generation, and Noah walked with God”; and in Hebrews 11:7 it says “by faith Noah,
being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear (reverence),
prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world,
and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith”.  Noah was living in a time
when God was about to destroy all living from the earth, mankind had gotten so
corrupt that God was sorry that He made man; but thanks be to God who saw Noah’s
faith.  You see that Hebrews 11:6 says “ but without faith, it is impossible to please
Him; for he that comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of
them that diligently see Him”.  And we also know that God is not a respecter of
persons, so it is available for us even now.

In Amos 3:3 it says “can two walk together, except they be agreed”?  Moses teaches
the children of Israel how to walk with God (Deuteronomy 10:12-13) which says “and
now, Israel, what does the Lord Yahweh your God require of you, but to fear
(reverence) the Lord Yahweh your God, to walk in all His ways, and to love Him, and
to serve the Lord Yahweh your God with all your heart, and with all your soul”.
Joshua also tells them before he died “take diligent heed to do the commandment
and the law, which Moses the servant of the Lord Yahweh charged you, to love the
Lord Yahweh your God, and to walk in all His ways, and to keep His commandments,
and to cling to Him, and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul:
(Joshua 22:5).  The Bible does tell us that “to obey is better than sacrifice”(I Samuel
15:22).

David walked with God, and David asked God in (Psalms 15:1-5) saying “Lord
Yahweh, who shall abide in Your tabernacle?  Who shall dwell in Your holy hill?  He
that walks uprightly, and works righteousness, and speaks the truth in his heart.  He
that backbites not with his tongue, nor does evil to his neighbor, nor takes up a
reproach against his neighbor.  In whose eyes a vile person is condemned; but he
honors them that fear the Lord Yahweh.  He that swears to his own hurt, and
changes not.  He that puts not out his money, nor takes reward against the innocent,
he that does these things shall never be moved”.

David teaches Solomon before his death (I Kings 2:1-4) “now the days of David drew
near that he should die, and he charged Solomon his son, saying.  I go the way of all
the earth; be you strong therefore, and show yourself a man.  And keep the charge
of the Lord Yahweh your God to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes and His
commandments, and His judgments, and His testimonies, as it is written in the law of
Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do, and wherever you turn yourself.
That the Lord Yahweh may continue His word which He spoke concerning me,
saying, if your children take heed to their way, to walk before Me in truth with all their
heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail to you (said He) a man on the throne
of Israel”.

Let’s not forget Hezekiah, he called God to remembrance of how he walked with Him,
and God restored him and gave him 15 more years to live (II Kings 20:1-6) which
says “in those days was Hezekiah sick to death.  And the prophet Isaiah the son of
Amoz came to him, and said to him.  Thus says the Lord Yahweh, set your house in
order; for you shall die, and not live.  Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed
to the Lord Yahweh, saying.  I beseech You, O Lord Yahweh, remember now how I
have walked before You in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which
is good in Your sight; and Hezekiah wept sore.  And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was
gone out into the middle court, that the word of the Lord Yahweh came to him,
saying.  Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of My people, thus says the Lord
Yahweh, the God of David your father, I have heard your prayer, I have seen your
tears, behold, I will heal you on the third day you shall go up to the house of the Lord
Yahweh.  And I will add to your days fifteen years, and I will deliver you and this city
out of the hand of the king of Assyrian; and I will defend this city for My own sake;
and for My servant David’s sake”.

We see that God makes the way for us to walk with Himself (Ezekiel 36:25-27) “then
will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and you shall be clean from all your filthiness,
and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.  A new heart also will I give you, and a new
Spirit will I put within you, and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I
will give you a heart of flesh.  And I will put My Spirit within you, and cause you to
walk in My statutes, and you shall keep My judgments, and do them”.  You see as
Zechariah 4:6b says “not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of
hosts”.

Just knowing that it is God’s desire for us to walk with Him, should give us the
incentive, and we are told to walk by faith and not by sight (II Corinthians 5:7).
Remember that faith is believing the word of God and then walking in it.  Romans 6:4
says “therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death; that like as Christ was
raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in
newness of life”.

We are warned in II Corinthians 6:14-18, which says “be you not unequally yoked
together with unbelievers; for what fellowship has righteousness with un-
righteousness?  And what communion has light with darkness?  And what concord
has Christ with Belial?  Or what part has he that believes with an infidel?  And what
agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living
God as God has said, I will dwell in them, ad walk in them, and I will be their God, and
they shall be My people.  Wherefore come out from among them, and be you
separate, says the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.  And
will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord
Almighty”.

Paul tells us in Colossians 2:6-7 “as you have therefore received Christ Jesus the
Lord, so walk you in Him.  Rooted and built up in Him, and established in the faith, as
you have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving”.  Remember that our
heavenly Father has predestined for us to conform to the image of His dear Son
(Romans 8:29-30) “for whom He did foreknow; He also did predestinate to be
conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many
brethren.  Moreover, whom He did predestinate, them He also called and whom He
called, them He also justified, and whom He justified, them He also glorified”.

The good news is that Jesus paid the price for us to be redeemed, reconciled back
to God as Adam was before the fall.  And Galatians 5:16 tells us “this I say then, walk
in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh”.   Walking in the Spirit,
means walking in the word of God and walking in the love of God (I John 1:6-7) says
“if we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not
the truth.  But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with
another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin”.

The apostle John writes in II John 4-6 “I rejoiced greatly that I found of your children
walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.  And now I
beseech you, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment to you, but that which
we had from the beginning, that we love one another.  And this is love, that we walk
after His commandments, that, as you have heard from the beginning, you should
walk in it”.  Also in III John 3-4 which says “for I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren
came and testified of the truth that is in you, even as you walk in the truth.  I have no
greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth”.

It is God’s desire for mankind to walk with Him; (Psalms 81:13) He tells Israel “oh that
My people had hearkened to Me and Israel had walked in My ways”.  And the same
goes for us.  Jesus prayed to the Father in John 17:21 “that they all may be one as
You Father, are in Me, and I in You, that they also may be one in Us, that the world
may believe that You have sent Me”.
