So Great Salvation

The writer of the book of Hebrews warns us not to neglect so great salvation, which
means we must make a choice (Hebrews 2:1-4) which says “therefore we ought to
give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, less at any time we
should let them slip.  For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every
transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward.  How shall
we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken
by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by them that heard Him.  God also bearing
them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of
the Holy Spirit according to His own will”.

This sounds like what God told Moses to teach to the Israelites in the wilderness
(Deuteronomy 30:19-20) “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you,
that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose
life, that both you and your seed may live.  That you may love the Lord Yahweh
your God, and that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him; for He
is your life, and the length of your days, that you may dwell in the land which the
Lord Yahweh swear to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give
them”.

After Adam and Eve fell by the scheme of the devil, and forfeited their dominion to
the devil, God proclaimed to the devil in Genesis 3:15 “and I will put enmity
between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; It shall bruise
your head, and you shall bruise His heel”.  God also told Eve and Adam their
consequences of their sin (Genesis 3:16-19) “to the woman He said, I will greatly
multiply your sorrow and your conception; in sorrow you shall bring forth children;
and your desire shall be to your husband, and he shall rule over you.  And to
Adam He said, because you have hearkened to the voice of your wife, and have
eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, saying, you shall not eat of it; cursed
is the ground for your sake; in sorrow shall you eat of it all the days of your life.  In
the sweat of your face shall you eat bread, till you return to the ground; for out of it
were you taken; for dust you are, and to dust shall you return”.

Good news is that because of Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection all these things
are fully restored.  We have been reconciled back to God as Adam was before the
fall, with full dominion as before.

God made a plan to redeem mankind (John 3:16-18) “for God so loved the world,
that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not
perish, but have everlasting life.  For God sent not His Son into the world to
condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.  He that
believes in Him is not condemned; but he that believes not is condemned already,
because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God”.  And
in (II Corinthians 5:21) it says “for He (God) has made Him (Jesus) to be sin for us,
who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him”.

To be saved is to be made spiritually alive in Christ (Ephesians 2:1-6) “and you
has He quickened (made alive) who were dead in trespasses ad sins.  Wherein in
time past you walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince
of the power of the air, the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience.
Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our
flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature the
children of wrath, even as others.  But God, who is rich in mercy; for His great love
wherewith He loved us.  Even when we were dead in sins, had quickened us
together with Christ, by grace you are saved.  And has raised us up together, and
made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus”.

Salvation is more than just the forgiveness of sins, it includes health, deliverance,
restitution of any problem in our life.  It means nothing missing, nothing broken
spirit soul and body (I Thessalonians 5:23) “and the very God of peace sanctify
you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved
blameless to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ”.

Isaiah 53:3-6 shows the benefits we received from the death of Jesus Christ, it
says “He is despised and rejected of men, a man of sorrows, and acquainted with
grief; and we hid as it were our faces from Him; He was despised, and we
esteemed Him not.  Surely He has borne our griefs (sickness), and carried our
sorrows (pain), yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.  But
He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the
chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed.  All
we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the
Lord Yahweh has laid on Him the iniquity of us all”.  Let us walk in the great
salvation which God has provided for us.

Hebrews tells us in Hebrews 4:1 “let us therefore be careful, less a promise being
left us of entering into His rest; any of you should seem to come short of it”.  And
then in Hebrews 10:19-23 says “having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into
the holiest by the blood of Jesus.  By a new and living way, which He has
consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, His flesh.  And having a high
priest over the house of God.  Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance
of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies
washed with pure water.  Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without
wavering, for He is faithful that promised”.

Christ appeared on this earth to save you from the penalty of sin, by putting away
your sin by the sacrifice of Himself on the cross (Hebrews 9:26).  Jesus said in
John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man comes to the Father but by
Me”.  We also see that Acts 4:12 says “neither is there salvation in any other; for
there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be
saved”.

After His death, burial, resurrection and ascension, the Lord Jesus sent the Holy
Spirit to proclaim salvation to the lost (John 16:7-13) “nevertheless I tell you the
truth; it is expedient for you that I go away, for if I go not away, the Comforter will
not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.  And when He is come, He
will reprove the world of sin; and of righteousness, and of judgment.  Of sin,
because they believe not on Me.  Of righteousness, because I go to My Father and
you see Me no more.  Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.  I
have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.  However,
when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth; for He shall not
speak of Himself, but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak; and He will
show you things to come”.  Also through the apostles and all believers, Jesus tells
His disciples in  (Acts 1:8) “But you shall receive power, after that the Holy Spirit is
come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me both in Jerusalem, and in all
Judaea, and in Samaria, and to the uttermost part of the earth”.

We read that God doesn’t want not even one person to perish (II Peter 3:9) “the
Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness, but is
longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should
come to repentance”.  God even ask us to pray for one another (I Timothy 2:1-2
and James 5:16) which says “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications,
prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men.  For kings, and
for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all
godliness and honesty.  Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for
another, that you may be healed.  The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man
avails much”.

We can see that God’s plan is not being realized by all of mankind.  Jesus even
said “enter you in at the narrow gate; for wide is the gate, and broad is the way,
that leads to destruction; and many here be which go in thereat.  Because narrow
is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leads to life, and few there be that find
it”.  God Himself says in “My people perish for lack of knowledge”.

Christ, in His humiliation, was nailed to the cross for our salvation, But He was
resurrected, exalted, and given a name above all names.  When He comes in
judgment, every knee will bow, in heaven, on earth, and in hell.  And every tongue
will confess that He is Lord (Philippians 2:6-11) “Who, being in the form of God,
thought it not robbery to be equal with God.  But made Himself of no reputation,
and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men.
And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient
to death, even the death of the cross.  Wherefore God also has highly exalted Him,
and given Him a name which is above every name.  That at the name of Jesus
every knew should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under
the earth.  And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the
glory of God the Father”.  Those who did not neglect “so great salvation” will bow
the knee and confess His name with great joy; but those who neglected “so great
salvation” will bow the knee and confess His name, but it will be to late.

You will bow the knee now and accept Christ as your personal Savior, or you will
bow the knee at the Great White Throne judgment and be lost forever (Revelation
20:11-15) “and I saw a great white throne and Him that sat on it, from whose face
the earth and the heaven fled away, and there was found no place for them.  And I
saw the dead, small and great, stand before God and the books were opened; and
another book was opened, which is the book of life, and the dead were judged out
of those things which were written in the book according to their works.  And the
sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead
which were in them; and they were judged every man according to their works.
And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire; this is the second death.  And
whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire”.
