Seated in Heavenly Places
Our position with God is be seated in heavenly places with Him (II Corinthians 5:
17-21) “therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are
passed away, behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who
has reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and has given to us the ministry of
reconciliation. To say, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself,
not imputing their trespasses to them; and has committed to us the word of
reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did
beseech you by us; we pray you in Christ’s stead, be you reconciled to God. For
He has made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the
righteousness of God in Him”.
Ephesians chapter 2 tells us that we are seated in heavenly places in Christ
Jesus, even though we all started out sinners (Ephesians 2:1-13) “and you has
He quickened (made alive), who were dead in trespasses and sins. Wherein in
time past you walked according to the course of this world, according to the
prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now works in the children of
disobedience. Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the
lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by
nature the children of wrath, even as others. But God, who is rich in mercy, for
His great love wherewith He loved us. Even when we were dead in sins, has
quickened us together with Christ, by grace you are saved. And has raised us
up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. That in
the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His
kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are you saved through
faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God. not of works, less any man
should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to good
works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them. Wherefore
remember, that you being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called
uncircumcision by that which is called circumcision in the flesh made by hands.
That at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of
Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without
God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who sometimes were far off are
made near by the blood of Christ”.
We all were sinners, and the Bible says that the “wages of sin is death”, so we
were heading for death, hell. So when we came to Jesus, Jesus being our refuge
from the wrath of God. as long as we stay in Christ (our refuge) we are safe.
Jesus says “the one who comes to Me, I will by no means cast out” (John 6:37).
God is the one that has qualified us to be seated in heavenly places (Colossians
1:12-14) “giving thanks to the Father which has made us meet (qualified) to be
partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light. Who has delivered us from the
power of darkness, and has translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son. In
whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins”.
Psalms 8:3-6 David says to God “when I consider Your heavens, the work of
Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained. What is man,
that You are mindful of him? and the son of man, that You visit him? For You
have made him a little lower than Elohim, and has crowned him with glory and
honor. You made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have
put all things under his feet”.
The devil really has no dominion over us (Romans 5:17) “for if by one man’s
offense (Adam’s) death reigned by one; much more they which receive
abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by One,
Jesus Christ”. Remember that we were given dominion (Genesis 1:26) “and God
said, let Us make man in Our image; after Our likeness, and let them have
dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the
cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the
earth”.
Also in (Romans 8:10-11) it says “and if Christ be in you, the body is dead
because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of
Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, He that raised up Christ
from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwells in
you”. Jesus told us, that He would not leave us alone, that He would send us a
comforter who would guide us into all truth. The Holy Spirit is with us always.
The believer is safe in the heavenly city of refuge, because of the great High
Priest Jesus Christ (Hebrews 7:6) “He ever lives to make intercession for us”.
After all we are the body of Christ (Ephesians 1:23). Ephesians 2:18-19 says
“for through Him we have access by one Spirit to the Father. Now therefore we
are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of
the household of God”.
We have to proclaim that God is our refuge (Psalms 91:1-2) says “he that dwells
in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the
Almighty. I will say of the Lord Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress; my
God, in Him will I trust”.
And in Psalms 47:1-4 in says “O clap your hands, all you people; shout to God
with the voice of triumph. For the Lord Yahweh Most High is awesome, He is a
great King over all the earth. He shall subdue the people under us, and the
nations under our feet. He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of
Jacob whom He loved, Selah”.
God speaks to us in Psalms 82 and tells us to arise; it says “God stands in the
congregation of the mighty, He judges among the gods. How long will you judge
unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah. Defend the poor and
fatherless, do justice to the afflicted and needy. Deliver the poor and needy; rid
them out of the hand of the wicked. They know not, neither will they understand;
they walk on in darkness, all the foundations of the earth are out of course. I
have said, you are gods; and all of you are the children of the Most High. But
you shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes. Arise, O god, judge the
earth; for you shall inherit all nations”.
God has restored us back to oneness with Him, as we were before Adam fell. But
many people see themselves as grasshoppers just like the Israelites did in the
wilderness and died there. We have to see ourselves as God says that we are,
just like Joshua and Caleb did, and they were able to enter into the promise land.
There are giants in our land too, but we have to remember that Jesus gave us
power of the power of the enemy, and that nothing shall hurt us (Luke 10:19).
Jesus commands us in Matthew 28:18-20 “and Jesus came and spoke to them,
saying, all power is given to Me in heaven and in earth. Go you therefore, and
teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of
the Holy Spirit. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have
commanded you, and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world”.
And in Mark 16:15-18 it says “and He (Jesus) said to them, go you into all the
world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believes and is baptized
shall be saved; but he that believes not shall be damned. And these signs shall
follow them that believe; in My name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak
with new tongues. They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly
thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall
recover”. But whose report will you believe?
The book of James tells us that we are to look into the perfect law of liberty (the
Bible) as a mirror (James 1:22-25) “but be you doers of the word, and not
hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and
not a doer, he is like to a man beholding his natural face in a mirror. For he
beholds himself, and goes his way, and immediately forgets what manner of man
he was. But whoso looks into the perfect law of liberty, and continues therein, he
being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in
his deed”.
Remember, we are told to let God be true and every man a liar.
