Possess It
We are not talking about possessing anything that God have not already provided
for us, through the dead, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Let’s look at our
promises: Jeremiah 29:11 says “for I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says
the Lord Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end”.
(Galatians 3:13-14,29) says “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law,
being made a curse for us, for it is written, cursed is every one that hangs on a
tree. That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus
Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith”. And if you be
Christ’s, then are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise”. Everyone
of us who are born again are born rich. We are heirs according to the promises.
Our Father God owns the whole world.
In I Corinthians 2:12 the Bible says “now we have received, not the spirit of the
world, but the Spirit which is of God, that we might know the things that are freely
given to us of God”. Remember God says “My people perish, because of lack of
knowledge” (Hosea 4:6). (Ephesians 1:3) says “blessed be the God and Father of
our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly
places in Christ”; Jesus says “lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth,
where moth and rust does corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal. But
lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust does
corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal” (Matthew 6:19-20), we
have to learn how to draw down from our heavenly account.
(Romans 8:32) says “He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us
all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” and (I Timothy 6:17-19)
says “charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust
in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who gives us freely all things to enjoy.
That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to
communicate (share). Laying up in store for themselves good foundation against
the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life”.
We are told to lay hold of our promises (Hebrews 4:1-3,) “let us therefore be
careful, less a promise being left us of entering into His rest, any of you should
seem to come short of it. For to us was the gospel preached, as well as to them;
but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that
heard it. For we which have believed do enter into rest, as He said, as I have sworn
in My wrath, if they shall enter into My rest, although the works, were finished from
the foundation of the world”; the Israelites did not believe and could not enter in.
verse 10-11 says “for he that is entered into His rest, he also has ceased from his
own works, as God did from His. Let us labor therefore to enter into this rest, less
any man fail after the same example of unbelief”. What giants are believers afraid
of?
It is God, who has given us these promises (Hebrews 6:17-19) “wherein God, willing
more abundantly to show to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel,
confirmed it by an oath. That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for
God to lie, we might have a strong consolation who have fled for refuge to lay hold
upon the hope set before us. Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both
sure and steadfast, and which enters into that inside the veil”. Paul says “not as
though I had already attained, either were already perfect; but I follow after, if that I
may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus”. We are told
in Hebrews 4:16 “let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may
obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need”.
Don’t leave God out of the equation, we have to believe that God is able to fulfill
any promise which he have spoken (Mark 11-22-24) “and Jesus answering said to
them. Have faith in God. For verily I say to you, that whosoever shall say to this
mountain, be you removed, and be you cast into the sea, and shall not doubt in his
heart, but shall believe that those things which he says shall come to pass, he shall
have whatsoever he says. Therefore I say to you, what things so ever you desire,
when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them”. You
believe you received it, when you pray, not when you see it. The trouble is people
are relying on their sense knowledge to receive, and we must receive it by faith.
Philippians 4:19 says “but my God shall supply all your need according to His riches
in glory by Christ Jesus”. It is not according to your bank account. People get
discouraged when they don’t see how it is going to happen, but if our trust is in
God, we will be trusting Him to make it happen.
Daniel prayed and fasted for 3 weeks and the angel was sent to him (Daniel 10:11-
13) “and he said to me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that
I speak to you, and stand upright, for to you am I now sent. And when he had
spoken this word to me, I stood trembling. Then said he to me, fear not, Daniel, for
from the first day that you did set your heart to understand, and to chasten yourself
before your God, your words were heard, and I am come for your words. But the
prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days, but lo, Michael,
one of the chief princes, came to help me, and I remained there with the kings of
Persia”.
I John 5:14-15 says “and this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask
any thing according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hear us
whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him”.
Remember we have an enemy and just like Daniel’s prayer was delayed, the enemy
will try to delay your prayer, then will tell you that God is not going to answer you.
James says in James 1:5-8 “if any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that gives
to all men liberally, and upbraids not, and it shall be given him. But let him ask in
faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavers is like a wave of the sea driven with the
wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the
Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways”. Many people are right
there, they asked and believed they received it, then began to doubt and became
double minded. We must repent from our double mindedness because “the gifts
and calling of God are irrevocable” (Romans 11:29).
As we began to possess our dreams, we must remember that we are stewards of
God, we must think of ourselves as a manager of all that is under our care, not as
an owner. If you have the attitude that you are taking care of the Lord’s property,
you will make what you have more available to others. This thinking helps to avoid
greed and materialism. God wants us to have nice things, and have provided them
for us, but that those things should have us. Remember that God has blessed us
so that we can be a blessing to others.
I know that we all know someone that have prayed and received their blessing from
God and then did not have time to go to church anymore. That blessing has now
become a curse for them. If they continue to push God back in their lives, they can
harden their hearts and turn completely away from God.
