Our  Strength is from God

Many people trust in their own power, but God warns in Jeremiah 17:5 “thus says
the Lord Yahweh, cursed be the man that trust in man, and makes flesh his arm,
and whose heart departs from the Lord Yahweh”.

The joy of the Lord Yahweh is our strength, we read this in Nehemiah 8:10.  Let’s
look at some of the psalms which David wrote; Psalms 18:1-3,32,39 says “I will
love You, O Lord Yahweh, my strength.  The Lord Yahweh is my rock, and my
fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler,
and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.  I will call upon the Lord
Yahweh, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies.  It is
God that girds me with strength, and makes my way perfect.  For You, have
girded me with strength to the battle; You have subdued under me those that
rose up against me”.

David wrote in Psalms 27:1-3, 13,14 “the Lord Yahweh is my light and my
salvation; whom shall I fear?  The Lord Yahweh is the strength of my life; of whom
shall I be afraid?  When the wicked, even my enemies and my foes, came upon
me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.  Though an host should encamp
against me, my heart shall not fear; though war should rise against me, in this will
I be confident.  I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the
Lord Yahweh in the land of the living.  Wait on the Lord Yahweh; be of good
courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord Yahweh”.

Psalms 28:7-8 David writes “the Lord Yahweh is my strength and my shield; my
heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices; and
with my song will I praise Him.  the Lord Yahweh is their strength; and He is the
saving strength of His anointed”.  Psalms 29:11 says “the Lord Yahweh will give
strength to His people; the Lord Yahweh will bless His people with peace”.
Psalms 31:23-24 says “O love the Lord Yahweh, all you His saints, for the Lord
Yahweh preserves the faithful, and plentifully rewards the proud doer.  Be of
good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you that hope in the Lord
Yahweh”.  Psalms 56:3,11 says “what time, I am afraid, I will trust in You.  In God
have I put my trust; I will not be afraid what man can do to me”.  Psalms 68:35
says “O God, You are terrible out of Your holy places; the God of Israel is He that
gives strength and power to His people.  Blessed be God”.

Just like David, when we began to be joyful for all that the Lord Yahweh have
done in our life, as we rehearse it, we get strength to go through anything.

James says to “my brethren, count it all joy when you fall into divers temptations.
Knowing this, that the trying of your faith works patience.  But let patience have
her perfect work, that you may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing” (James 1:
2-4).  After all he tells us that we can ask for wisdom in verse 5 “if any of you lack
wisdom, let him ask of God, that gives to all men liberally, and upbraids not; and it
shall be given him”.  But many people forget to ask.

The apostle Paul reveals to us in Philippians 4:4-9 “rejoice in the Lord always;
and again I say, rejoice.  Let your moderation be known to all men.  The Lord is
at hand.  Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with
thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God,
which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ
Jesus.  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are
honest; whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever
things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue,
and if there be any praise, think on these things.  Those things, which you have
both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do; and the God of
peace shall be with you”.  He goes on in verse 13 to say “I can do all things
through Christ which strengthens me”.

Walking in God’s ways brings strength (Proverbs 3:5-8) “trust in the Lord Yahweh
with all your heart; and lean not to your own understanding.  In all your ways
acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.  Be not wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord Yahweh, and depart from evil.  It shall be health to your navel, and
marrow to your bones”.  Also in Proverbs 10:29 which says “the way of the Lord
Yahweh is strength to the upright; but destruction shall be to the workers of
iniquity”.

Romans 4:17-21 tells how Abraham received strength; it says “as it is written, I
have made you a father of many nations, before Him whom he believed, even
God, who makes alive the dead, and calls those things which be not as though
they were.  Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father
of many nations; according to that which was spoken.  So shall your seed be.
And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he
was about a hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb.  He
staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith,
giving glory to God.  And being fully persuaded that, what He had promised, He
was able also to perform”.  Hebrews 11:11 says “through faith also Sarah herself
received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was
past age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised”.

God promises to strengthen us (Isaiah 40:29-31) “He gives power to the faint;
and to them that have no might He increases strength.  Even the youths shall
faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall.  But they that wait upon
the Lord Yahweh shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as
eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint”.
Again in Isaiah 41:10 God tells us “fear you not; for I am with you; be not
dismayed; for I am your God, I will strengthen you, yea, I will help you, yea, I will
uphold you with the right hand of My righteousness”.

After the conversion of the apostle Paul, he received strength (Acts 9:20-22)
“and immediately he preached Christ in the synagogues, that He is the Son of
God.  But all that heard him were amazed, and said, is not this he that destroyed
them which called on this name in Jerusalem, and came here for that intent, that
he might bring them bound to the chief priests?  But Saul increased the more in
strength, and confounded the Jews which dwelled at Damascus, proving that this
is very Christ”.

The apostle Paul prayed for the Ephesian church (Ephesians 3:16-19) “that He
would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with
might by His Spirit in the inner man.  That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith;
that you, being rooted and grounded in love.  May be able to comprehend with all
saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height.  And to know the
love of Christ, which passes knowledge, that you might be filled with all the
fullness of God”.

We need strength to contend for the faith, because we have an enemy; we are
told in (I Peter 5:6-10) “humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of
God, that He may exalt you in due time.  Casting all your care upon Him; for He
cares for you.  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a
roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour.  Whom resist steadfast
in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren
that are in the world.  But the God of all grace, who has called us to His eternal
glory by Christ Jesus, after that you have suffered a while, make you perfect,
established, strengthen, settle you”.
