Many People Walk by Sight

Walking by sight means walking by what you see, hear, feel, touch and smell, the
problem with that is that the devil is the god of this world, and he can reflect what
you see, hear, feel, touch and smell. But the Bible tells us many times, that we are
supposed to walk by faith and not by sight (Habakkuk 2:4, Romans 1:17,
Galatians 3:11, and Hebrews 10:38).  When God says any thing more that one of
two times, it means that it is very important for us to understand what He said.
Galatians 3:11 says “but that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is
evident, for the just shall live by faith”.

When you consider that we have been made justified, just as if we have never
sinned.  Justification by faith in God the Son is more than acquittal.  It is the
judicial act of our Holy God, declaring the repentant sinner righteous with the
righteousness of God in Christ.  Paul picked up on this by saying “receive us, we
have wronged no man, we have corrupted no man, we have defrauded no man”
(II Corinthians 7:2); this is the same Saul/Paul which persecuted the church,
before his conversion.  Therefore by faith the just, are eternally free from the guilt
and penalty of sin; they are declared righteous by the death, burial and
resurrection of Jesus Christ (II Corinthians 5:21) “for He (God) has made Him
(Jesus) to be sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the
righteousness of God in Him”.  Justification is not something that you can see with
your natural eyes, you have to believe that the blood of Jesus has provided it for
you, and walk in it.

In Galatians 5:16-18 Paul says “this I say then, walk in the Spirit, and you shall
not fulfill the lust of the flesh (the natural man).  For the flesh lusts against the
Spirit and the Spirit against the flesh, and these are contrary the one to the other,
so that you cannot do the things that you would.  But if you be led of the Spirit,
you are not under the law”.  Being led of the Spirit is being under the influence of
the word of God.

Waling by sight is dangerous because there is no faith used, and Hebrews 11:6
says “but without faith it is impossible to please Him (God), for he that comes to
God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek
Him”.  Proverbs 3:1-10 says “My son, forget not my law, but let your heart keep
my commandments.  For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add
to you.  Let not mercy and truth forsake you; bind them about your neck; write
them upon the table of your heart.  So shall you find favor and good
understanding in the sight of God and man.  Trust in the Lord Yahweh with all
your heart, and lean not to your own understanding.  In all your ways
acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.  Be not wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord Yahweh and depart from evil.  It shall be health to your navel, and
marrow to your bones.  Honor the Lord Yahweh with your substance, and with the
first fruits of all your increase.  So shall your barns be filled with plenty; and your
presses shall burst out with new wine”.

Let’s look at Abraham and Lot when the land was not big enough for them both
(Genesis 13:5-13) “and Lot also, which went with Abram, had flocks, and herds
and tents.  And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell
together; for their substance was great; so that they could not dwell together.
And there was a strife between the herd men of Abram’s cattle; and he herd men
of Lot’s cattle; and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land.  And
Abram said to Lot, let there be no strife, I pray you, between me and you, and
between my herd men and your herd men; for we be brethren.  Is not the whole
land before you?  Separate yourself, I pray you, from me; if you will take the left
hand, then I will go to the right; or if you depart to the right hand, then I will go to
the left.  And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was
well watered every where, before the Lord Yahweh destroyed Sodom and
Gomorrah, even as the garden of the Lord Yahweh, like the land of Egypt, as you
come to Zoar.  Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed
east; and they separated themselves the one from the other.  Abram dwelled in
the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent
toward Sodom”.  Lot looked out and saw the land of Sodom and choose it,
because it looked good.  He didn’t ask God.  Lot started out in the plains of
Sodom, but he was pulled in.  Abraham had to rescuer him and his family when
they were captured by the kings, and also when God was going to destroy Sodom
and Gomorrah.

Abraham in trying to keep the peace, gave Lot the first choice and God blessed
him; in verse 14-17 says “and the Lord Yahweh said to Abram, after that Lot was
separated from him.  Lift up now your eyes, and look from the place where you
are northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward.  For all the land
which you see, to you, will I give it, and to your seed forever.  And I will make your
seed as the dust of the earth; so that if a man can number the dust of the earth
then shall your seed also be numbered.  Arise, walk through the land in the
length of it, and in the breath of it, for I will give it to you”.

Now let’s look at Elisha and his servant, Elisha reveals to his servant how
dangerous it is to rely only on what you can see with your natural eyes (II Kings 6:
8-17) “then the king of Syria warred against Israel, and took counsel with his
servants, saying, in such and such a place shall be my camp.  And the man of
God (Elisha) sent to the king of Israel, saying, beware that you pass not such a
place; for there the Syrians are come down.  And the king of Israel, sent to the
place which the man of God told him, and warred him of, and saved himself there,
not once nor twice.  Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for
this thing, and he called his servants, and said to them, will you not show me
which of us is for the king of Israel?  And one of his servants said, none, my lord,
O king; but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words
that you speak in your bedchamber.  And he said, go and spy where he is, that I
may send and bring him, and it was told him, saying, behold, he is in Dothan.
Therefore sent he there horses, and chariots, and a great host; and they came
by night, and compassed the city about.  And when the servant of the man of God
was risen early, and gone forth, behold, a host compassed the city both with
horses and chariots, and his servant said to him, alas, my master! How shall we
do?  And he answered, fear not; for they that be with us are more than they that
be with them.  And Elisha prayed, and said Lord Yahweh, I pray you, open his
eyes, that he may see.  And the Lord Yahweh opened the eyes f the young man;
and he saw and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire
round about Elisha”.  Notice that Elisha prayed that his eyes be opened, but this
man was not blind; he saw with his natural eyes the horses and chariots of the
king of Syria,  but Elisha prayed that his faith eyes be opened; and he was able to
see by faith the host of heaven.

Good news is that the apostle Paul prayed for us (Ephesians 1:16-21) “cease not
to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers.  That the God of our
Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and
revelation in the knowledge of Him.  The eyes of your understanding being
enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of His calling, and what the
riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.  And what is the exceeding
greatness of His power to us-ward, who believe, according to the working of His
mighty power.  Which He wrought in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead,
and set Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places.  Far above all
principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named,
not only in this world, but also in that which is to come”.  Now start to see yourself
that way.

Thomas was led by his sight, when he said that he had to see the nail print to
believe (John 20:19-22, 24-28) “then the same day (resurrection day), being the
first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were
assembled, for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst and said to
them, Peace be to you.  And when He had so said, He showed to them His hands
and His side, then were the disciples glad, when the saw the Lord.  Then said
Jesus to them again, Peace be to you; as My Father has sent Me, even so send I
you.  And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them,
Receive you the Holy Spirit.  But Thomas, one of the twelve called Didymus, was
not with them when Jesus came.  The other disciples therefore said to him, we
have seen the Lord, but he said to them, except I shall see in His hands the print
of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into
His side, I will not believe.  And after eight days again His disciples were within,
and Thomas with them, then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the
midst, and said Peace be to you.  Then said He to Thomas, reach here your
finger and behold My hands and reach here your hand, and thrust it into My side;
and be not faithless, but believing.  And Thomas answered and said to Him, My
Lord and My God.  Jesus said to him, Thomas, because you have seen Me, you
have believed; blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed”.

Let us look farther than our natural eyes can see, and as II Corinthians 4:18 says
“while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not
seen, for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not
seen are eternal”.  Faith reaches beyond the natural realm of man’s ability, to
possess what the word of God says.
