Let the Word Prevail
Prevail – overpower
Acts 19:20 says “the Word grew mighty and prevailed”. The word of God has to
overpower our mind and become more real than anything we can see . The
greatest power on earth is God’s Words (Hebrews 11:2-3) “For by it the elders
obtained a good report. Through faith we understand that the worlds were
framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of
things which do appear”. You are only limited by what you believe based on the
authority of that word. Jesus says “all things are possible, to them that believe”.
Mary said something after the angel spoke to her, she said “be it unto me
according to your word”. She agreed with the word and it came to pass. II Peter 1:
2-4 says “Grace and peace be multiplied to you through the knowledge of God
and of Jesus our Lord. According as His divine power has given to us all things
that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him that has called us
to glory and virtue. Whereby are given to us exceeding great and precious
promises that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature, having
escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust”. Verse 4 says that you
might be a partaker, you have to speak God’s words to bring this about.
Jesus said “if you continue in My word, then are you My disciple indeed. And you
shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:31-32). If you
understand the word, the devil will not be able to steal it from you (Matthew 13:
19) “when any one hears the word of the kingdom and understands it not, then
comes the wicked one, and catches away that which was sown in his heart”, that’s
why it is very important to get understanding of the word. Proverbs 4:7 says
“wisdom is the principal thing, therefore get wisdom, and with all your getting get
understanding”.
Faith is the main thing needed. “Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word
of God” (Romans 10-17). The word of God is the seed, and we have to sow it
into our heart. We are told in James 1:21-25 to receive with meekness the
engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. Saving of your soul is not just
in the eternal sense, but it is also now in this life. Your soul has to do with your
mind and your emotions. You implant the word, by speaking it. It will bring new
life into your mind (Proverbs 4:20-26).
Jesus told us “upon this rock, I will build My church and the gates of hell shall not
prevail against it. and I will give to you the keys of the kingdom of heaven and
whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatsoever
you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” (Matthew 16:18-19) then in
Luke 10:18-19, speaking to the 70 who returned with joy because the devils were
subject to them through Jesus’ name, “I beheld satan as lighting fall from
heaven. Behold, I give to you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and
over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you”. We
are called in Romans 8:37 “we are more than conquerors”. A conqueror has to
overcome something, to be a conqueror. Colossians 1:12-13 says “giving thanks
to the Father which has made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the
saints in light. Who has delivered us from the power of darkness and has
translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son”. God has given to us His power
and says to us arise, judge the earth, for you shall inherit all nations (Psalms 82:
8).
John reveals our power in many ways (I John 2:14) “I have written to you, young
men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have
overcome the wicked one”, verse 4:4 says “You are of God, little children and
have overcome them, because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the
world”; verse 5:4-5 says “for whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world,
and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith. Who is he that
overcomes the world, but he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God”.
The Bible tells us in Isaiah 55:11 “so shall My word be that goes forth out of My
mouth, it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what which I please,
and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it”. So as you let the word of God
increase in your life, you will prevail.
