Laughter

Laughter is our weapon; as Nehemiah 8:10 says “then he said to them; go you way,
eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions to them for whom nothing is
prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord neither be you sorry; for the joy of the
Lord Yahweh is your strength”.  Laughter is joy flowing.

As we rejoice we draw in the power of God (Psalms 16:5-11) says “the Lord
Yahweh is the portion of my inheritance and of my cup; You maintain my lot.  The
lines are fallen to me in pleasant places, yea, i9 have a goodly heritage.  I will bless
the Lord Yahweh who has given me counsel, my reins also instruct me in the night
seasons.  I have set the Lord Yahweh always before me; because He is at my right
hand, I shall not be moved.  Therefore my heart is glad; and my glory rejoices, my
flesh also shall rest in hope.  For You will not leave my soul in hell; neither will You
allow Your Holy One to see corruption.  You will show me the path of life; in Your
presence is fullness of joy, at Your right hand there are pleasures for evermore”.

The people of the world is always trying to discourage and stop the people of God
from doing what God has called them to do.
Psalms 2:1-4 says “why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together,
against the Lord Yahweh, and against His Anointed saying.  Let us break their
bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.  He that sits in the heaven shall
laugh; the Lord shall have them in derision”.  Remember that we too sits in the
heavens (Ephesians 2:5-6) “even when we were dead in sins, has quickened us
together with Christ, by grace you are saved.  And has raised us up together; and
made us to sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus”.  God’s laughs at human
pride and rebellion, and then mocks and scorns the enemy.

When God told Abraham that Sarah would bear a child, He told him to name him
Isaac (Genesis 17:15-19) “and God said to Abraham, as for Sarai your wife, you
shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be.  And I will bless her, and
give you a son also of her yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of
nations, kings of people shall be of her.  Then Abraham fell upon his face, and
laughed, and said in his heart.  Shall a child be born to him that is an hundred
years old, bear?  And Abraham said to God, O that Ishmael might live before you.
And God said, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son indeed, and you shall call his
name Isaac; and I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant,
and with his seed after him”.  Isaac means laughter.

As we read in Genesis 21:1-7, it says “and the Lord Yahweh visited Sarah as He
had said, and the Lord Yahweh did to Sarah as He had spoken.  For Sarah
conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God
had spoken to him.  And Abraham called the name of his son that was born to him,
whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac.  And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac being
eight days old, as God had commanded him.  And Abraham was an hundred years
old, when his son Isaac was born to him.  And Sarah said, God has made me to
laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me”.

Therefore we are supposed to laugh at our enemies.

Let’s look at what Job said; in Job 5:22 he says “at destruction and famine you shall
laugh; neither shall you be afraid of the beasts of the earth”.  Some would say that,
that is hard to do, but Job says “I would seek to God, and to God would I commit my
cause” in verse 8.   This sounds like Psalms 3:3-6 which says “You O Lord Yahweh
are a shield for me, my glory, and the lifter up of my head.  I cried to the Lord
Yahweh with my voice, and He heard me out of His holy hill.  Selah.  I laid me down
and slept; I awaked, for the Lord Yahweh sustained me.  I will not be afraid of ten
thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about”.

Job also says in 8:19-22 “ behold, this is the joy of His way, and out of the earth
shall others grow.  Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man, neither will He
help the evil doers.  Till He fill your mouth with laughing, and your lips with
rejoicing.  They that hate you shall be clothed with shame; and the dwelling place of
the wicked shall come to nothing”.  In Job 22:19, he says “the righteous see it, and
are glad; and the innocent laugh them to scorn”.  We can laugh too, because we
are a child of the Most High God; who says “He will never leave us or forsake us”.

Romans 8:31-32 says “what shall we then say to these things?  If God be for us,
who can be against us?  He that spared not His own Son; but delivered Him up for
us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things”?

Let us look at Psalms 126, it is labeled “A song of degrees” which says “when the
Lord Yahweh turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.
Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongues with singing; then said
they among the heathen.  The Lord Yahweh has done great things for them.  The
Lord Yahweh has done great things for us; whereof we are glad.  Turn again our
captivity, O Lord Yahweh, as the streams in the south.  They that sow in tears shall
reap in joy.  He that goes forth and weeps, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless
come again
with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him”.

Laughter is like medicine (Proverbs 15:13-15, and 17:22) says “a merry heart
makes a cheerful countenance; but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.  The
heart of him that has understanding seeks knowledge; but the mouth of fools feeds
on foolishness.  All the days of the afflicted are evil; but he that is of a merry heart
has a continual feast. A merry heart does good like a medicine; but a broken spirit
dries the bones”.

We are told to rejoice (Philippians 4:4-7) “rejoice in the Lord always, and again I
say, rejoice.  Let your moderation be know to al men.  The Lord is at hand.  Be
careful for nothing, but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving
let your requests be made know to God.  And the peace of God, which passes all
understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus”.  This tells
us why we can laugh even in difficult times.

Paul says in II Corinthians 6:10 “as sorrowful; yet always rejoicing; as poor; yet
making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things”.  This is the
same Apostle Paul who wrote much of his letters while he was in the dungeons.

Even medical science says that when you laugh deep in your belly, your liver sends
out ensigns, which flow through out your body.  Those who laugh quickly and easily
seldom have a heart attack..

When we laugh in the difficult times, we confuse the devil.  And that should make us
eager to do it.

Good news is that laughter is a medicine that will cost you nothing and there is no
side effects.
