Knowing the Way of the Lord

As I was reading in the book of Jeremiah, a phrase stuck out to me “they are foolish;
for they do not know the way of the Lord Yahweh, the judgment of their God.  I will go
to the great men and speak to them, for they have known the way of the Lord
Yahweh, the judgment of their God” (Jeremiah 5:4-5).  This stuck out to me that some
people know the way of the Lord Yahweh and some don’t.  Looking back at verses 1-
3, we see that God is looking for a man who executes judgment, who seek truth. The
foolish man does not know, making it clear that we should know.  I Corinthians 2:14-
16 says “the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God for they are
foolishness to him, neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
But he that is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.  For who
has known the mind of the Lord, that he my instruct Him?  But we have the mind of
Christ”.  Jesus said “it is given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of
heaven, but to them it is not given” (Matthew 13:11), He says this as He explained the
parable of the sower.

In Psalms 119:9-16 we see how we can know; “wherewithal shall a young man
cleanse his way?  By taking heed thereto according to Your word.  With my whole
heart have I sought You; O let me not wander from Your commandments.  Your word
have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against You.  Blessed are You, O Lord
Yahweh; teach me Your statues.  With my lips have I declared all the judgments of
Your mouth.  I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, as much as in all riches.
I will meditate in Your precepts, and have respect to Your ways.  I will delight myself in
Your statues, I will not forget Your word”. We have been given the Bible so that we
can know the way of the Lord.  And have been told to study to show your self
approved.  Remember it’s the word that is not understood that the devil is able to
steal for you heart.

God made His way available to all mankind (John 3:16-18,36) “for God so loved the
world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not
perish, but have everlasting life.  For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn
the world through Him might be saved.  He that believes in Him is not condemned, but
he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name
of the only begotten Son of God.  He that believes on the Son has everlasting life,
and he that believes not the Son; shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on
him”.  God doesn’t want any to perish (II Peter 3:9) “the Lord is not slack, concerning
His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing
that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance”. Jesus said “let not
your heart be troubled, you believe in God; believe also in Me.  In My Father’s house
are many mansions, if it were not so I would have told you.  I go to prepare a place for
you.” (Jesus is going to the cross, to redeem us and reconcile us to the Father,
restoring us to the status that Adam had before the fall. Restoring our dominion).
“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to Myself,
that where I am, there you may be also.  And where I go you know, and the way, you
know.    Thomas said to Him, Lord we know not where You go, and how can we know
the way?  Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man comes to the
Father, but by Me.  If you had known Me, you should have known My Father also,
and from hereafter you know Him, and have seen Him” (John 14:1-7).

We are made in the image of God; He has put “death and life in the power of the
tongue” our tongue (Proverbs 18:21).  Jesus said “O generation of vipers, how can
you, being evil, speak good things?  For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth
speaks.  A good man out of the good treasure of the heart brings forth good things;
and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.  But I say to you, that
every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of
judgment.  For by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be
condemned” (Matthew 12:34-37).  Paul writes it this way “there is therefore now no
condemnation to them, which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but
after the Spirit.  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from
the law of sin and death.  For what the law could not do in that it was weak through
the flesh, God sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin,
condemned sin in the flesh.  That the righteousness of the law, might be fulfilled in
us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.  For they that are after the flesh
do mind the things of the flesh, but they that are after the Spirit the things of the
Spirit.  For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and
peace.  Because the carnal mind is enmity against God, for it is not subject to the law
of God, neither indeed can be.  So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God
(Romans 8:1-8).  Hebrews 11:6 says “but without faith it is impossible to please Him,
for he that comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them
that diligently seek Him”.  God doesn’t respond to need, He responds to faith.  When
Jesus went to His own hometown, He could not do many mighty works there, because
of their unbelief.

The Bible tells us to “walk by faith and not by sight” (II Corinthians 5:7) and “who is
wise and he shall understand these things? Prudent, and he shall know them?  For
the ways of the Lord are right, and the just shall walk in them; but the transgressors
shall fall therein” (Hosea 14:9).  Walking by faith is walking according to the word of
God in our lives.  Remember faith is: F - fantastic . A - adventure . I - in . T - trusting .
H - Him.  Faith is trusting the known will of God.  Believing and acting on the word of
God.  Faith is the word of God in your heart, coming out of your mouth.  Jesus when
He walked the earth, He rebuked His disciples when they did not use their faith, when
they awoke Him fearing they would drown (Mark 4:37-40) “and there arose a great
storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship so that it was now full.  And He was in
the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow, and they awake Him, and say to Him,
Mater care You not that we perish.  And He arose, and rebuked the wind, and said to
the sea Peace, be still.  And the wind ceased, and thee was a great calm. And He
said to them, why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith? ; and
commended those who used their faith, the women with the issue of blood and the
centurion.  Jesus said many times “your faith has made you whole”.  Whole means –
nothing missing, nothing broken.
