The Key to Success

This is a question that many people ask all around the world, and it can be
answered biblically; God speaks to Joshua after the death of Moses
(Joshua 1:1-9) “now after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord
Yahweh, it came to pass, that the Lord Yahweh spoke to Joshua the son of
Nun, Moses’ minister, saying.  Moses My servant is dead; now therefore
arise go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I do give
to them, even to the children of Israel.  Every place that the sole of your
foot shall tread upon, that have I given to you, as I said to Moses.  From the
wilderness and this Lebanon even to the river Euphrates, all the land of the
Hittites, and to the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be
your coast.  There shall not any man be able to stand before you all the
days of your life, as I was with Moses, so shall I be with you, I will not fail
you, nor forsake you.  Be strong and of good courage; for to this people
shall you divide for an inheritance the land, which I swear to their fathers to
give them.  Only be you strong and very courageous, that you may observe
to do according to all the law, which Moses My servant commanded you;
turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper
wherever you go.  This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth,
but you shall meditate therein day and night, that you may observe to do
according to all that is written therein, for then you shall make your way
prosperous, and then you shall have good success.  Have not I
commanded you?  Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither
be you dismayed, for the Lord Yahweh you God is with you wherever you
go”.

When the Bible says “this book of the law shall not depart out of your
mouth” it is saying for you to never stop speaking the word of God.  Joshua
was told to study the book of the law continually, meditating on it day and
night so he could be sure to obey all that is written in it, and afterward he
would have success.

Moses was told to speak to the Israelites, telling them to teach their children
the word of God, as they get up, as they walk in the way, and as they lie
down; that sounds like day and night.  Psalms 1:1-3 says “blessed is the
man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of
sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful.  But his delight is in the law of
the Lord Yahweh, and in His law does meditate day and night.  And he shall
be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth its fruit in its
season; its leaf also shall not wither, and whatsoever he does shall prosper”.

Meditating is reflecting on the word, pondering and speaking to yourself
over and over.  Meditating on God’s word is the first step toward applying it
to your everyday life.  The word of God makes wise the simple and converts
the soul (Psalms 19:7) “the law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul,
the testimony of the Lord is pure, making wise the simple”.  Spending time
reading and thinking about what you read.  You have to see it on the inside,
by your spirit before you will see it on the outside; in the natural.  Paul
writes to Timothy telling him “till I come, give attendance to reading, to
exhortation, to doctrine.  Neglect not the gift that is in you, which was given
you by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the elders.  Meditate
upon these things, give yourself wholly to them, that your profiting may
appear to all.  Take heed to yourself, and to the doctrine, continue in them;
for in doing this you shall both save yourself, and them that hear you” (I
Timothy 4:13-16).

Meditating is actually faith, it keeps God’s word before your eyes day and
night (Proverbs 4:20-23) “my son, attend to my words, incline your ear to
my sayings.  Let them not depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of
your heart.  For they are life to those that find them, and health to all their
flesh.  Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life”.

Paul also tells us what we should things to meditate on (Philippians 4:6-9)
“be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with
thanksgiving; let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of
God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds
through Christ Jesus.  Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true,
whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever
things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of
good report, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on
these things.  Those things, which you have both learned, and received,
and heard, and seen in me, do; and the God of peace shall be with you”.

As you think about God’s word, talking about it, and imagining it, seeing
yourself doing it.  Then you are drawing it to you.  A good example is the
woman with the issue of blood, she found the scripture in Malachi 4:2 which
says “but to you that reverence My name shall the Sun of righteousness
arise with healing in His wings”, and as she acted on it (Mark 5:27-29) says
“when she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched His
garment.  For she said, if I may touch but His clothes, I shall be whole.  And
immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body
that she was healed of that plague”.

You have to know what God says about you (Jeremiah 29:11) says “for I
know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord Yahweh, thoughts
of peace, and not of evil, to give you a expected end”; meditate on this and
also on Psalms 23, the importance is to see our position, claim the Lord as
your shepherd as we yield ourselves to Him; and Psalms 91 we need to
abide under the shadow of His wings, remembering that God is not a man
that He should lie, so let us trust Him.  God’s promises are available to us
today (Ephesians 3:20) says “now to Him that is able to do exceeding
abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works
in us”.  Proverbs 23:7 says “as a man thinks in his heart, so is he”.

Your habits and customs are important; Jesus often withdrew to the
wilderness for quality time with the Father (Luke 5:16) “and He withdrew
Himself into the wilderness, and prayed”.  It was His custom to withdrew to a
quiet, solitary place to commune with His Father.  Jesus said that He only
spoke what He heard from His Father.  We too have to watch what we
speak.  It takes 21 days to make or change a habit, we being a follower of
Jesus as dear children, can look at His habits and make a decision to pick
up on them.

Jesus does tell us to continue in His word (John 15:4-7) “abide in Me, and I
in you, as the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine;
no more can you, except you abide in Me.  I am the vine, you are the
branches, he that abides in Me and I in him, the same brings forth much
fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.  If a man abide not in Me, he is cast
forth as a branch, and it withered and men gather them, and cast them into
the fire, and they are burned.  If you abide in Me, and My words abide in
you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done to you”.  The more
word you believe and meditate on, the stronger you will be.

When God speaks something into your heart, meditate on it and see the
glory of God, for it shall come to pass.  Remember that the word of God will
not return to Him void.
