Infallible Word of God

Seeing the Bible as the infallible word of God, will allow us to become fully
persuaded that we can trust it.  Jesus says in (Matthew 5:17-18) “think not that I
am come to destroy the law, or the prophets; I am not come to destroy, but to
fulfill.  For verily I say to you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in
no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled”.  And in (John 10:35b) “the scripture
cannot be broken”.

From the garden of Eden, the devil has been trying to discredit God’s word, he
said to Eve “did God say”, and then he contradicted what God had said; he told
her “you shall not surely die” (Genesis 3:4).  The devil is still contradicting God’s
word.

The Bible is God’s message for His people.  It was the Holy Spirit who moved the
prophets to speak from God (II Peter 1:20-21) “knowing this first, that no prophecy
of the scripture is of any private interpretation.  For the prophecy came not in old
time by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy
Spirit”; this means that the scripture did not come from the creative work of the
prophets’ own invention or interpretation.  God inspired the writers, so their
message is authentic and reliable.  Paul tells Timothy in II Timothy 3:16-17 “all
scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof,
for correction, for instruction in righteousness.  That the man of God may be
perfect, thoroughly furnished to all good works”.

The Bible is a tool for understanding God’s will for our lives, if we will listen to what
it has to say and then apply it within our lives.  Scripture is completely trustworthy
because God was in control of its writing.  The Bible is “God-breathed” and you
should read it, and use it to guide your conduct.

The Bible is a special revelation from God.  It explains what God is like, how He
expects us to act, and the consequences of our either accepting or rejecting His
message (Deuteronomy 30:19-20) “I call heaven and earth to record this day
against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing;
therefore choose life, that both you and your seed may live.  That you may love
the Lord Yahweh your God, and that you may obey His voice, and that you may
cling to Him; for He is your life, and the length of your days; that you may dwell in
the land which the Lord Yahweh swear to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and
to Jacob, to give them”.   The Bible was written for our instruction.  The stories and
parables are there to be examples for us (Romans 15:4) “for whatsoever things
were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and
comfort of the scriptures might have hope”.

The Word reveals who you really are!  The Bible shows you who the new man is.
You have to renew your mind to the word of God (Romans 12:1-2)”I beseech you
therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God that you present your bodies a living
sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.  And be not
conformed to this world, but be you transformed by the renewing of your mind, that
you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God”.  What
you allow yourself to see, say and hear will affect your spirit man; feed yourself on
the word of God on a daily basic.

Some people look at the Bible as something that have to be read, however, the
Bible is something that you get to read.  It is God’s love letter to us.  Remember
that Jesus said that He was sending the Holy Spirit to be our helper (John 16:12-
14) “I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.
However, when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth; for He
shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak; and
He will show you things to come.  He shall glorify Me; for He shall receive of Mine,
and shall show it to you”.

The Bible cannot be understood by the natural mind, because the devil blinds their
mind (II Corinthians 4:3-4) “but if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost.  In
whom the god of this world (the devil) has blinded the minds of them which believe
not, less the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should
shine to them”.  The Bible works effectually in them that believe (I Thessalonians 2:
12-13) “that you would walk worthy of God, who has called you to His kingdom and
glory.  For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when you
received the word of God which you heard of us; you received it not as the word of
me n; but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually works also in you that
believe”.

I Corinthians 2:12-16 says “now we have received not the spirit of the world, but
the Spirit which is of God, that we might know the things that are freely given to us
of God.  Which things also we speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches,
but which the Holy Spirit teaches; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.  But the
natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to
him, neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.  But he that
is spiritual judges al things, yet he himself is judged of no man.  For who has
known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct Him?  But we have the mind of
Christ”.

The Bible is from God, and therefore spiritual, before you can receive its
teachings, you must be born of the Spirit (John 3:3-6) “Jesus answered and said to
him, verily, verily, I say to you, except a man be born again, he cannot see the
kingdom of God.  Nicodemus said to Him, how can a man be born when he is old?
can he enter the second time into his mother’s worm, and be born?  Jesus
answered, verily, verily, I say to you, except a man be born of water and of the
Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.  That which is born of flesh is
flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit”.

Always approach the Bible praying that the Spirit will be your teacher and will guide
you to a better understanding of His Holy Word.

The oneness or unity of the Bible is a miracle.  It is comprised of 66 books, written
by over 35 different authors, in a period of approximately 1500 years.  Yet its
various parts are as harmoniously united as the parts that make up the human
body.  It could not have happened on its own.  The only explanation is that “holy
men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit”.

The Bible claims reflecting power as a mirror; and James tells us in James 1:22-25
“but be you doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding
his natural face in a glass.  For he beholds himself, and goes his says, and
straightway forgets what manner of man he was.  But, whoso looks into the perfect
law of liberty, and continues therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of
the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed”.  This sounds like what God told
Joshua “this book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall
meditate therein day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is
written therein; for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall
have good success”.

The Bible claims cleansing power as water; Jesus cleanses us (John 15:3) Jesus
said “now you are clean through the word which I have spoken to you”; (Ephesians
5:26) says “that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the
word”; In Psalms 119:9 the Psalmist says “wherewithal shall a young man cleanse
his way?  By taking heed thereto according to Your word”.  David prayed that God
would “wash him from iniquity” and “cleanse him from sin” (Psalms 51:2).

The Bible claims reproductive power as seed (I Peter 1:23) “being born again, not
of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and
abideth for ever”.  We are children of God because we have been born into the
family of God by the incorruptible seed of God.  This is a new birth, building up in
the faith (Acts 20:32) and now brethren, I commend you to God and to the Word of
His grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all
them which are sanctified”.  And promoting growth in grace (I Peter 2:2) says as
newborn babes desire the sincere milk of the word, that you may grow thereby”.
The Bible is spiritual food for the soul (Matthew 4:4) Jesus said “it is written, man
shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of
God”.  No Christian can remain strong in the Lord and not study the Word of God.

The Bible commands the believer to study the scriptures (II Timothy 2:15) “study to
show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly
dividing the word of truth”.  As you study the Bible, ask yourself these questions:
who is speaking; God, demons, angels, or man?  To whom is he speaking? To the
nation of Israel, to the Gentiles, to the church, to man in general or to some
individual man?  How can this scripture be applied in my own life to make me a
better Christian?

It is so important for Christians to establish their faith in the Bible, for it is the Word
of God.  The Bible is as high above all other books as the heavens are above the
earth.  Someone has said of the Bible, “read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and
practice it to be right”.  So let us make the Bible the final authority in our lives.  We
know that God does not lie, therefore we can not be a liar if we speak the word of
God.
