If the Foundation be Destroyed Part 2
We started this study last week and have already discussed the foundation of
Jesus Christ as our solid foundation; and the foundational guidelines for the
church. We see that the world has been trying to break down these foundations
as to weaken our faith.
Today we are going to continue with prayer and the principles that God has put in
order for us, but people are asking God to do what He has told us to do. God has
a good plan for our lives (Jeremiah 29:11) “for I know the thoughts that I think
toward you, says the Lord Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you
an expected end”. As we continue reading verses 12-14, we see our part in
accomplishing our plan, the Bible says “then shall you call upon Me, and you shall
go and pray to Me, and I will hearken to you. And you shall seek Me, and find Me
when you shall search for Me with all your heart. And I will be found of you says
the Lord Yahweh, and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all
the nations, and from all the places where I caused you to be carried away
captive”.
Now let’s take this in context; Jeremiah was writing about how long the captivity of
those carried away to Babylon would be. In verse 10 we see that it was 70 years.
Daniel found this and began to do his part in the fulfilling of this prophecy (Daniel
9:2-4) “in the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the
years, whereof the word of the Lord Yahweh came to Jeremiah the prophet, that
He would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem. And I set my
face to the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting and
sackcloth, and ashes. And I prayed to the Lord Yahweh my God, and made my
confession, and said O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant
and mercy to them that love Him, and to them that keep His commandments”.
Daniel understood that the time was near and he “put God in remembrance of His
word”. In Isaiah 62:6 the Bible says “I have set watchmen upon your walls, O
Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night, you that make
mention of the Lord Yahweh, keep not silence.
As God reveals our plan, we have to seek God for our part in accomplishing the
plan. Most people are just waiting for it to happen on it’s own; and are getting mad
at God for the delay. II Chronicles 7:14 says “if My people, which are called by My
name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their
wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal
their land”.
The foundation of the spoken word. What are you saying? People are saying
what they see like the world, but the Bible says “let the redeemed of the Lord say
so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy” (Psalms 107:2). The
Bible says “let the weak say I am strong” (Joel 3:10). This is not lying, it’s living by
faith. “Calling those things that be not as though they were” (Romans 4:17). And
the Bible tells us “the just shall live by faith” (Habakkuk 2:4, Romans 1:17,
Hebrews 10:38).
We as followers of Christ as dear children should do like Jesus did “He only spoke,
what He heard His Father speak”; but people are saying all kinds of things, and
don’t see the problem. Jesus said “the word is seed” and “the word of God is spirit
and life”, so if you are not speaking God’s words, you are speaking death into
your life (Proverbs 18:21) “death and life are in the power of the tongue; and they
that love it shall eat the fruit thereof”.
The world has changed the meanings of words, slang may say bad and really
mean good. Words have become so twisted that they don’t mean what they say.
This is a problem because Jesus tells us in Mark 11:22-24 “and Jesus answering
said to them. Have faith in God. For verily I say to you, that whosoever shall say
to this mountain. Be you removed, and be you cast into the sea, and shall not
doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he says shall come to
pass, he shall have whatsoever he says. Therefore I say to you, what things so
ever you desire, when you pray, believe that you receive them and you shall have
them”.
This works in the positive as well as the negative (Galatians 6:7-9) “be not
deceived; God is not mocked, for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap.
For he that sows to his flesh all of the flesh reap corruption; but he that sows to
the Spirit, shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well
doing, for in due season, we shall reap, if we faint not”. We see how the Israelites
fell into the trap of the devil and perished in the wilderness (Numbers 14:27-29)
“how long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against Me? I
have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against
Me. Say to them, as truly as I live, says the Lord Yahweh, as you have spoken in
My ears, so will I do to you. Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness, and al that
were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old
and upward, which have murmured against Me”.
Another foundational problem is keeping the kingdom of God in the future. People
make the mistake waiting for the kingdom to come, however when Jesus taught on
the kingdom, He said “the kingdom is at hand” (Matthew 3:2, 4:17; Mark 1:15). We
are told in Matthew 6:10 to pray “Your kingdom come, Your will be done in earth,
as it is in heaven”. If we want to know what it’s like in His kingdom, look at how
things were in the Garden of Eden and how the book of Revelations shows us.
Jesus taught parables about the kingdom, these are not just nice stories, we need
to study them out more closely. Remember the Bible does tell us to “study to show
yourself approved, a workman who needs not to be ashamed”. The Bible says in
Mark 4:11 “and He said to them, to you it is given to know the mystery of the
kingdom of God, but to them that are outside, all these things are done in
parables”.
People are looking for future peace, when thy go to heaven, and that’s good, for
in heaven there is peace, but the Bible says “this is the day of salvation”. Faith is
now. The woman with the issue of blood knew that the Messiah would come with
healing in His wings, and stepped out in faith and received her healing. Jesus didn’
t touch her, but she touched Him in faith and immediately received (Mark 5:28-
34). Jesus said “it is finished” and that means that everything that He can to do
has been accomplished. We are not waiting for God, He is waiting for us.
Our greatest foundational issue is our righteousness. Our righteousness is not
based on what we do, but on what Jesus did. Our righteousness has been given to
us (II Corinthians 5:21) “for He has made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin,
that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him”. The Bible tells us “for by
grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God.
Not of works, less any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9). Colossians 2:6-10
says “as you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk you in Him.
Rooted and built up in Him, and stablished in the faith, as you have been taught,
abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware less any man spoil you through
philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the
world, and not after Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead
bodily. And you are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and
power”.
The devil is quick to tell you that you are not worthy to receive from God, that is a
lie. You receive your healing the same way you receive your salvation.
