Give Glory to God
Glorifying means to magnify God through praising His name and honoring His
commandments ( Psalms 86:12-13) “I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my
heart, and I will glorify Your name for evermore. For great is Your mercy toward
me and You have delivered my soul from the lowest hell). Psalms 50:23 “whoso
offers praise glorified Me, and to him that orders his conversation aright will I show
the salvation of God”. Jesus as our example, glorified His Father through His
perfect obedience and His sacrificial death on our behalf (John 17:1) Jesus said
“Father the hour is come, glorify Your Son, that Your Son may glorify You”.
Some say how can you give God any thing, when He has everything? But we give
God glory when we let Him shine through us, and people see God in us (Proverbs
3:5-6) “trust in the Lord Yahweh with all your heart, and lean not to your own
understanding. In all your way acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths”.
Acknowledge that it was Him that allowed you to do it. Remember David (I Samuel
17:37) “David said moreover, the Lord Yahweh that delivered me out of the paw of
the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, He will deliver me out of the hand of this
Philistine”. We have several others written in the Bible. Mary the mother of Jesus,
when she greeted Elizabeth “and Mary said, my soul does magnify the Lord. and
my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior. For He has regarded the low estate of His
handmaiden for, behold from hereafter all generations shall call me blessed. For
He that is mighty has done to me great things, and holy is His name” (Luke 1:46-
49). The Leper (Luke 17:12-19) “and as He (Jesus) entered into a certain village,
there met Him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off. And they lifted up
their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. And when He saw them,
He said to them. Go show yourselves to the priests. And it came to pass, that, as
they went, they were cleaned. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed,
turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God. And fell down on his face at His
feet, giving Him thanks and he was a Samaritan. And Jesus, answering said, were
there not ten cleaned, but where are the nine? There are not found that returned
to give glory to God, save this stranger. And He said to him, arise, go your way,
your faith has made you whole”.
Jesus told us to “let your light so shine before men that they may see your good
works and glorify your Father which is in heaven)” (Matthew 5:16). Jesus Himself
did many mighty works and the people gloried God (Matthew 15:30-31) “And great
multitudes came to Him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb,
maimed and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet and He healed them.
Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the
maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see, and they glorified the
God of Israel”. The man with the palsy (Luke 5:25-26) “and immediately he rose
up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house,
glorifying God. And they were all amazed, and they glorified God and were filled
with reverence, saying we have seen strange things today”. Blind Barnamas (Luke
19:38-43) “and he cried, saying Jesus, You Son of David, have mercy on me. And
they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace, but he cried
so much the more, You Son of David, have mercy one me. And Jesus stood, and
commanded him to be brought to Hi, and when he was come near, He asked him.
Saying, what will you that I shall do to you? And he said, Lord, that I may receive
my sight. And Jesus said to him, receive your sight, your faith has saved you. And
immediately he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God, and all the
people when they saw it, gave praise to God”.
Jesus tells us how to glorify God (John 15:7-8) “If you abide in Me, and My words
abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done to you. Herein is My
Father gloried, that you bear much fruit so shall you be My disciples”.
People being used of the devil will try to get you to keep the glory, but you must
know that the glory belongs to God. King Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel 3:30-33) “the
king spoke, and said, is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of
the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honor of my majesty? While the
word was in the king’s mouth, there fell a voice from heaven saying, o king
Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken, the kingdom is departed from you. And they
shall drive you from men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field,
they shall make you to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over you,
until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and give it to
whomsoever He will. The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar
and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with
the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles feathers, and his nails like
birds claws”. Herod (Acts 12:21-23) “and upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal
apparel, sat upon his throne and made an oration to them, and the people gave a
shout saying, it is the voice of a god, and not of a man. And immediately the angel
the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory, and he was eaten of
worms, and gave up the ghost”. God warns His people (Malachi 2:2) “if you will not
hear, and if you will not lay it to heart to give glory to My name, says the Lord of
hosts. I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings. Yea, I
have cursed them already because you do not lay it to heart”.
In reality, when we give God the glory, we show others what God has done, which
gives them hope for their own lives. Besides that it give us overcoming power over
the devil (Revelation 12:11). Being strong in faith, glorifies God (Romans 4:20)
“he (Abraham) staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief, but was
strong in faith, giving glory to God”.
People make a big mistake taking God for granted. Psalms 100:4 says “enter into
His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise, be thankful to Him,
and bless His name”. Remember that God inhabits the praises of His people, and
where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty.
