Exercising Our Dominion

Genesis 1:26-28 God gave dominion to mankind, it says “and God said, let Us
make man in Our image, after Our likeness; and let them have dominion over the
fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the
earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.  So God created
man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female
created He them.  And God blessed them, and God said to them, be fruitful, and
multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of
the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moves upon
the earth”.

David writes in Psalms 8:4-8 “what is man, that You are mindful of him?  And the
son of man, that You visit him?  For You have made him a little lower than Elohim,
and have crowned him with glory and honor.  You made him to have dominion over
the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet.  All sheep and
oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field.  The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea,
and whatsoever passes through the paths of the seas”.

These two scriptures establishes that God did give dominion over this earth to
mankind, yet man fell from his dominion by listening to the devil as he spoke to Eve
speaking things which were contrary to the word of God.  Just like the devil got
Adam and Eve to relinquish their dominion to him, he is doing the same things
today.

Jesus did say “the thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy; I am
come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”.

God gave dominion to mankind and He never took it back (Romans 11:29) says
“the gifts and callings are in evocable”.  Even though mankind fell into sin and gave
their dominion to the devil; the devil is called the god of this world (II Corinthians 4:
4).  We are supposed to be in the world, but not of the world.

God uses mankind to do the things of the kingdom of God, and the devil uses
mankind to do the things of darkness (Romans 6:16) “know you not, that to whom
you yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants you are to whom you obey,
whether of sin to death, or of obedience to righteousness”?

Notice that mankind has the ability to choose (Deuteronomy 30:19-20) “I call
heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and
death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your seed
may live.  That you may love the Lord Yahweh your God, and that you may obey
His voice, and that you may cling to Him; for He is your life, and the length of your
days; that you may dwell in the land which the Lord Yahweh swear to your fathers,
to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them”.

Many question why it took so long for God to send Jesus into the world to redeem
mankind?  Yet we understand that we are to yield ourselves to God.  When you
think about the time right before the flood Genesis 6:5-7 says “and God saw that
the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagination of the
thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.  And it repented the Lord that He
had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him at His heart.  And the Lord said, I
will destroy man whom I have created, from the face of the earth; both man and
beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repents Me that I have
made them”.

We have to thank God that He found Noah (Genesis 6:8-9) “but Noah found grace
in the eyes of the Lord.  These are the generations of Noah, Noah was a just man
and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God”.
Some people think that exercise is a dirty word, because it takes much discipline;
but we grow strong through exercise, in all areas of our lives, spirit, soul and body.

We are to exercise our dominion the same way that God did.  He spoke and things
happened; look in Genesis chapter one.  II Corinthians 4:13 says “we have the
same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed and therefore have I
spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak”.

Jesus did say “I only speak what I hear from My Father”.  When we speak the word
of God, we are planting seed, and as long as we pull out the weeds; the weeds are
things which go contrary to the word of God; it shall come to pass.

James warns in James 1:5-8 “if any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that
gives to all men liberally, and upbraids not; and it shall be given him.  But let him
ask in faith nothing wavering, for he that wavers is like a wave of the sea driven
with the wind and tossed.  For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing
of the Lord.  A double minded man is unstable in all his ways”.  Double minded is
one who says one thing then says things contrary to what they said.  The devil
sends people in your path which will try to get you to doubt what God says.

We are to speak the word of God with boldness. The early church did.  Peter and
John spoke in the name of Jesus of Nazareth and the lame man was healed; and
after being persecuted for this, they returned to their own company and prayed in
Acts 4:29-31 it says “and now, Lord, behold their threatenings; and grant to Your
servants, that with all boldness they may speak Your word.  By stretching forth
Your hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of Your
hold child Jesus.  And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they
were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they
spoke the word of God with boldness”.  Hebrews 10:19-20, 22-24 says “having
therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus.  By a
new and living way, which He has consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to
say, His flesh.  Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having
our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure
water.  Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; for He is faithful
that promised.  And let us consider one another to provoke to love and to good
works”.

Jairus a ruler of the synagogue came to Jesus and worshipped Him, saying  my
daughter lies at the point of death; I pray You, come and lay Your hands on her,
that she may be healed; and she shall live. This is his profession of faith, but while
Jesus was coming a certain woman which had an issue of blood twelve years,
reached in and touched Him and received, and Jesus said who touched Me; and
after she told Jesus all things, a man came from his house and said don’t trouble
the Master any further.  As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said
to the ruler of the synagogue, be not afraid, only believe (Mark 5:22-36).  Now,
because Jairus did not speak his daughter was made whole.

Again in I John 4:17 which says “herein is our love made perfect, that we may have
boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world”.

God told Joshua 1:8-9 “this book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; but
you shall meditate therein day and night, that you may observe to do according to
all that is written therein, for then you shall make your way prosperous and then
you shall have good success.  Have not I commanded you?  Be strong and of a
good courage, be not afraid, neither be you dismayed, for the Lord Yahweh your
God is with you wherever you go”.  The New Testament version of this is in
Philippians 4:6-8 which says “be careful for nothing, but in every thing by prayer
and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And
the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and
minds through Christ Jesus.  Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true,
whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are
pure, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things
are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these
things”.

We are told that the just is to live by faith (Habakkuk 2:4; Romans 1:17, Galatians 3:
11 and Hebrews 10:38).  Living and walking by faith means living our life according
to the word of God, because faith is believing the word of God and then acting
upon the word.

II Corinthians 10:3-5 teaches us to walk spiritually, it says “for though we walk in the
flesh, we do not war after the flesh.  For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal,
but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.  Casting down
imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God,
and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ”.  Jesus
demonstrated this when He was tempted of the devil in the wilderness in Matthew 4:
1-13; each time the devil spoke to Him, He would say “it is written”.  He lined up with
the word of God.

Ephesians 6:10-18 says “finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the
power of His might.  Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand
against the wiles of the devil.  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but
against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this
world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.  Wherefore take to you the whole
armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all
to stand.  Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the
breastplate of righteousness.  And your feet shod with the preparation of the
gospel of peace.  Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith you shall be able
to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.  And take the helmet of salvation, and
the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.  Praying always with all prayer and
supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereto with all perseverance and
supplication for all saints”.

We have to stir up the gift within us (II Timothy 1:6-7) “wherefore I put you in
remembrance that you stir up the gift of God, which is in you by the putting on of
my hands.  For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love,
and of a sound mind”.  Paul gives good advice, after all I John 4:4 says “you are of
God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He that is in you,
than he that is in the world”.  Revelation 12:11 says “and they overcame him by the
blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives
to the death”.

Remembering that God will never leave us or forsake us, we understand that as
(Romans 8:31) says “if God be for us, who can be against us”?

God tells us in Psalms 82:1-8 “God stands in the congregation of the mighty; He
judges among the gods. How long will you judge unjustly, and accept the persons
of the wicked?  Selah.  Defend the poor and the fatherless, do justice to the
afflicted and needy.  Deliver the poor and needy, rid them out of the hand of the
wicked.  They know now, neither will they understand, they walk on in darkness; all
the foundations of the earth are out of course.  I have said, you are gods, and all of
you are children of the Most High.  But you shall die like man, and fall like one of
the princes.  Arise, O god, judge the earth; for you shall inherit all nations”.

So let us arise, and do the things that God has predestined for us to do.
