Exercise - Development
Heb: follow forth, behave self, to go, to do or make, accomplish, advance
Bring forth, to respond, practice, prepare.
Gk: control, bring under the power of, elaborate, train, strive, implement,
Practice, training.
Development – Make the Bible the final authority. Develop confidence in the Word of
God (II Tim 3:15-17). Let the redeemed of the LORD say so (Ps 107:2). The joy of the
LORD is your strength (Neh 8:10).
Exercise, Bodily – physical training, or athletic discipline, such as that practiced by
competitors in gymnastics (I Tim 4:8). The apostle Paul often referred to athletic
contests to illustrate spiritual truths (I Cor 9:24-27;
II Tim 2:5; 4:7).
Crucify your flesh – exercise control over your flesh. Flesh is the earthly part of a
person (Rom 8:5-11; Gal 2:20; 5:24-25).
Spiritual exercise – Our every blessing is from the Spirit (Eph 1:3), and remember the
Spirit is in you. That’s why we are to walk in the Spirit (Word of God) (Gal 5:17). Jesus
told a parable about the sower (Mark 4:13-20). Satan can only take the word you don’t
understand, that’s why the Bible says with all your getting get understanding (Prov 3:13;
4:7). As is our understanding of truth (I Cor 2:13-16; Col 1:9), and our ability to
understand Scripture correctly is given by the Spirit (John 16:13) Jesus said My Words
are Spirit and they are life (John 6:63). We have to train ourselves to listen to the Spirit
by following the Word of God. We are to be so dominated by the Spirit that we can be
called spiritual (Gal 6:1-2). The flesh stands in the way of our blessings (Matt 26:40-41;
I John 3:8-11), practice or of commitment to – ask yourself did Jesus accomplish that
task? Yes. So the works of the devil is defeated. Let us develop this picture. Focus
on the finished work of Christ.
Exercise being led by the Spirit of God (John 2:5; 7:17; 15:4-5; Rom 6:16-18; 8:15-
16; II Cor 10:4-5; James 4:7-8).
Exercise casting your care on Jesus (I Pet 5:6-10) put God in your problem and see
how small it becomes, focus on God remember Peter walked on water.
Exercise unity and agreement (II Chron 5:13; Matt 18:19; Acts 1:14; 2:1; 4:24-25; 5:12;
15:25; Phil 2:2) Agree with what God says about you. Now do as God says by calling
those things that be not as they are (Rom 4:17). In Joel 3:10 it says let the weak say
they are strong.
Exercise faith – feed your faith daily on the Word of God (Matt 7:24-27; Rom 12:1-3)
your faith grown by what you say (Mark 11:22-24;
Rom 3:3-4). With faith and patience you inherit the promise (Eccl 7:8; Rom 8:25; 15:4;
Heb 6:12; Heb 12:1).
Exercise the spirit man within us; we must acknowledge what God has put in us (II Tim 1:
7; Philemon 1:6). Think of who you are in Christ (II Cor 5:17). Focus on your spirit.
Remember as a man thinks in his heart so is he (Prov 23:7) The Bible tell us how to
think (Phil4:6-9).
Exercise spiritual discernment (Gal 6:7-10; I John 4:1) – remember God is a rewarder of
them that diligently seek him (Heb 11:6). Meditate on the Word day and night (Josh 1:
8). God says to bring Me in remembrance of My Word. (Isa 43:26), remember the Word
of God will not return void.
Exercise your authority – In Matthew 16:19, 18:18-20. Jesus in Luke 10:19 gave us all
authority. Jesus tell us to speak to the mountain (Mark 11:23-24) Ezekiel prophesied
to the dry bones. Job says we are to decree and declare a thing and it shall be
established (Job22:28). Remember we have dominion (Gen 1:28).
Practice submission to God and resisting the devil (James 4:7). You resist the devil just
like Jesus did, quoting the word that cancels out what he says. “It is written”. Applying
the blood (pleading the blood) over circumstances. Jesus says in John 16:23-24 to ask
in His name so our joy will be full. Exercise this by asking in Jesus’ name. Standing on
the Word of God in faith; finding what applies to your circumstance and studying the
word on what corrects it. Go to the throne room boldly with confidence, thanking God
for the answers to your circumstances. Casting down vain imaginations, bringing every
thought under the obedience of Christ.
