Everything You Can See
God promised Abram in Genesis 13:14-17, which says “and the Lord Yahweh said
to Abram, after that Lot was separated from him. Lift up now your eyes, and look
from the place where you are northward, and southward, and eastward, and
westward. For all the land which you see, to you will I give it, and to your seed
forever. And I will make your seed as the dust of the earth, so that if a man can
number the dust of the earth, then shall your seed also be numbered. Arise, walk
through the land in the length of it, and in the breadth of it, for I will give it to you”.
But Abram didn’t see it at first, Abram told God in Genesis 15:2-3 “and Abram
said, Lord God, what will you give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my
house is this Eliezer of Damascus. And Abram said, behold, to me You have given
no seed, and lo, one born in my house is my heir”.
Abram saw himself childless, and Proverbs 23:7 says “as a man thinks in his heart,
so is he”. Some people say that God held up the promise for 25 years, but it was
what Abram was able to see. God changed Abram’s name to Abraham which
means “father of many nations”, so as he would tell people his name, he was
saying what God said about him; “I am the father of many nations”. After this Isaac
was born within the next year.
The same concept worked against the Israelites when the 12 spies came back
from spying out the land; 10 of the spies came back with an evil report and caused
all of the Israelites 20 years old and upward to die in the wilderness. They saw
that the land was flowing with milk and honey, but they saw the giants and the
fortified cities and said they could not go in and possess the land. They forgot
that God was with them, and saw themselves as grasshoppers. They kept their
focus on the natural realm. The other 2 spies Joshua and Caleb spied out the
same land with them, but they saw that God was with them, their focus was on the
spiritual realm, God had told them to go in and possess the land and they were
ready to go in. They were the only ones 20 years old and upward that got to go
in, even though they had to wait 40 years (Number 13-14). God kept them strong,
so they were able to go in and possess the land even though they were over 80
years old.
The Bible is the truth, and everything it says I can do, I can do, and everything it
says I have, I have. Ephesians 1:3 says “blessed be the
God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all spiritual
blessings in heavenly places in Christ”. I Corinthians 2:9-12 says “but as it is
written, eyes has not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of
man, the things which God has prepared for them that love Him. But God has
revealed them to us by His Spirit, for the Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep
things of God. For what man knows the things of a man, save the spirit of man
which is in him? Even so the things of God, knows no man, but the Spirit of God.
Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God,
that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God”. We need to see
into the spiritual realm and know how to bring them down to the natural realm.
Let’s look at Elisha when his servant came to him to tell him that they were
surrounded, Elisha prayed for God to open his servant’s eyes so that he could
see into the spiritual realm and God did, he also prayed that the enemy’s would be
blinded, and they were (II Kings 6:17-20) “Elisha prayed, and said, Lord Yahweh, I
pray You, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord Yahweh opened the
eyes of the young man, and he saw and behold the mountain was full of horses
and chariots of Fire round about Elisha. And when they came down to him, Elisha
prayed to the Lord Yahweh and said, smite this people, I pray You with blindness,
and He smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha. And Elisha
said to them, this is not the way, neither is this the city, follow me, and I will bring
you to the man whom you seek. But he led them to Samaria. And it came to pass,
when they were come into Samaria, that Elisha said Lord Yahweh open the eyes
of these men that they may see. And the Lord Yahweh opened their eyes and
they saw, and behold, they were in the midst of Samaria”. Elisha led them to the
king of Israel and they were captured.
Paul prayed for the Ephesians “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father
of glory may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of
Him. The eyes of your understanding being enlightened, that you may know what
is the hope of His calling, and what the riches of the glory of inheritance in the
saints. And what is the exceeding greatness of His power to us-ward who believe,
according to the working of His mighty power”. So it is biblical to ask God to open
our eyes. Remember it is the devil that blinds the minds of them that believe not (II
Corinthians 4:4).
You have to see yourself the way that God sees you and then the physical and
natural will follow (Colossians 3:1-4) “if you then be risen with Christ, seek those
things which are above, where Christ sits on the right hand of God. Set your
affection on things above not on things on the earth. For you are dead, and your
life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall
you also appear with Him in glory”.
II Corinthians 4:18 says “while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the
things with are not seen, for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things
which are not seen are eternal. There is a seen world, a natural world which is
ruled by your senses, what you see, feel, touch, hear, taste; the devil can control
your senses; and there is an unseen world, the spiritual. And what God says
about you is true.
Everything that is in the seen world, first started from the spiritual realm (Hebrews
11:3) “through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of
God, so that things which are seen, were not made of things which do appear”.
God lives in the eternal now, and sees things the way they are at their fulfillment.
God saw Gideon as a mighty man of valor, even when Gideon was hiding out in
the natural (Judges 6:7-13). Gideon started out hiding, but as he let God take
control, he was used to save Israel from the Midianites.
If you think of yourself in any way other than what the Bible says, you are
operating in the flesh and are contrary to God (Romans 8:6-8) “for to be carnally
minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal
mind is enmity against God, for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed
can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God”. You have to look
through the eyes of faith, look through to the supernatural. As we look at what is
not seen through the promises of the word of God, our focus has to be on what
the word of God is saying to us. The direction of your focus is where you will go.
Remember we are told to “walk by faith, and not by sight”.
The world says that “you have to see it to believe it”, remember what Thomas said
in (John 20:25) the Bible says “the other disciples therefore said to him (Thomas),
we have seen the Lord, but he said to them, except I shall see in His hands the
print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand
into His side, I will not believe”. He was focusing in the natural realm. But the
kingdom of God says “you have to believe it to receive it”, Mark 11:23-24 says “for
verily I say to you, that whosoever shall say to this mountain, be you removed, and
be you cast into the sea, and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that
those things which he says shall come to pass, he shall have whatsoever he says.
Therefore I say to you, what things so ever you desire, when you pray, believe
that you receive them and you shall have them”. To achieve this your focus must
be on the spiritual realm.
God gives dreams and visions (Joel 2:28 and Acts 2:17) says “and it shall come to
pass in the last days, says God, I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh, and your
sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions,
and your old men shall dream dreams”, and we are told in Habakkuk 2:2-4 to
“write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that read it. For
the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie
though it tarry, wait for it, because it shall surely come, it will not tarry”. We have
to meditate on that dream or vision until you can see it. Remember God told
Joshua to meditate day and night (Joshua 1:8). If you can see it, you can have it.
Why do you think, that the devil fights so hard to get people to not read the Bible?
If you tell people that you read the Bible every day, they will tell you that it is not
necessary, it is not necessary for salvation, but it is profitable to those who read
their Bible on a daily basic. You see that “faith comes by hearing and hearing the
word of God”.
Proverbs 4:20-27 says “my son, attend to my words, incline your ear to my
sayings. Let them not depart from your eyes, keep them in the midst of your
heart. For they are life to those that find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep
your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life. Put away from you a
forward mouth, and perverse lips put far from you. Let your eyes look right on,
and let your eyelids look straight before you. Ponder the path of your feet, and let
all your ways be established. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left, remove
your foot from evil”. God’s word is not to depart from our eyes, we have keep
them in the midst of our heart, watch our mouth and keep our eyes on God and
not on the circumstances.
Psalms 121 tells us what to put our focus on; verses 1-2 says “I will lift up my eyes
to the hills from where comes my help. My help comes from the Lord Yahweh,
which made heaven and earth”. Let us keep our focus on God at all times.
