The Engrafted  Word

Engrafted = implanted, germinate or grow, sprout

In James 1:21 we are told to receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to
save your souls.  Bear in mind that James is talking to brethren.  When you are saved,
your spirit is immediately changed.  The old things are passed away, behold, all things
become new (II Corinthians 5:17).  Paul tells us to work out your salvation.  This is not a
contradiction, you see your spirit is become new, but your mind, will and emotions have
to be renewed.  God did the spiritual change, and gave us the word to change our
minds, will and emotions.

The engrafted word is getting God’s word into your life until you believe it and act it out,
so you don’t see the difference between your mind and the Word of God.  The new man
is Christ likeness (Colossians 3:9-10).

Jesus tells us how to let the word work in us (John 8:31-32, 15:6-11).  We have to except
God’s Word as truth and live by it.

Learn God’s Word (Proverbs 4;20-23) the seed is the word of God, we have to read it,
see it, speak it, and make a decision to believe it.  Praise is to the seed of God’s Word
as water to natural seed.  In Hosea 4:6 God’s people, the word says “My people are
destroyed for lack of knowledge, because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject
you, that you shall be no priest to Me, seeing you have forgotten the law of your God, I
will also forget your children”.  When you don’t study the word, you are rejecting God.
Learning is the first step then you have to act on it.   The doctors use to operate on one
patient and then deliver a baby, and the baby and the mother would get sick and die,
because they didn’t wash their hands between patients.  Now they wash and wear rubber
gloves.  In the spiritual we have to be washed with the water of the word (Ephesians 5:26-
27).  We were sinners, but we have been grafted into the family of God (Romans 8:14-
16, 11:17-21).

As you take part of a plant and put it into water to root it, then when it is rooted you place
it next to another plant and they will grow together as one.  In that same way God to
sinful man and when we apply the engrafted word we will root and become one with
Christ (Ephesians 4:14-15, 23-24).

You see Romans 8::29-32 shows us that God wants us to conform to the image of His
Son.  And I Peter 2:2 says “as newborn babes desire the sincere milk of the word, that
you may grow thereby”.

In all engrafting the water is the first step.  Likewise the Word of God is to be first place in
our lives.

Jesus tells us “however, when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all
truth, for He shall not speak of Himself, but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He
speak, and He will show you things to come”.  We have to welcome the Holy Spirit into
our lives and ask for His help through out our daily lives.

We have to act on the word.  We are to be doers of the word, and not hearers only
(James 1:22-25).

The Bible tells us in III John 3-4 “for I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and
testified of the truth that is in you, even as you walk in the truth.  I have no greater joy
than to hear that my children walk in truth. (the word)
