The Devil is Defeated Already

The devil started out as Lucifer, Ezekiel 28 describes how he was before his heart
was lifted up (verse 14-15,17) “you are the anointed cherub that covers, and I have
set you so, you were upon the holy mountain of God, you have walked up and down
in the midst of the stones of fire.  You were perfect in your ways from the day that
you were created, till iniquity was found in you.  Your heart was lifted up because of
your beauty, you have corrupted your wisdom by reason of your brightness, I will
cast you to the ground, I will lay you before kings, that they may behold you”.  In
Isaiah 14:12-15 the word says “how are you fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of
the morning! How are you cut down to the ground, which did weaken the nations!
For you have said in your heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne
above the stars of God.  I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the
sides of the north.  I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the
Most High.  Yet you shall be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit”.  “And
there was war in heaven; Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the
dragon fought and his angels.  And prevailed not, neither was there place found
any more in heaven.  And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called
the devil and satan which deceives the whole world; he was cast out into the earth,
and his angels were cast out with him”.  Jesus says in Luke 10:18 “I beheld satan as
lightning fall from heaven.

The devil got permission to use the body of the serpent and tricked Eve.  “The
serpent said to the woman, you shall not surely die, for God does know that in the
day you eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be as gods,
knowing good and evil”.  The devil in effect called God a liar.
Adam let him have his authority in the earth, by disobeying God command and
eating the fruit of the tree of good and evil (Genesis 3:6-7).  The devil became the
god of this world.  God cursed the serpent and prophecies the defeat of the devil in
Genesis 3:15 “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed
and her seed; it shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel”.

Jesus defeated satan by His death burial and resurrection (Colossians 2:15) “and
having spoiled principalities and powers, He made a show of them openly,
triumphing over them in it”.  In Hebrews 2:14-16 “forasmuch then as the children are
partakers of flesh and blood.  He also Himself likewise took part of the same, that
through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is the devil.
And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to
bondage.  For verily He took not on Him the nature of angels, but He took on Him
the seed of Abraham”.

Jesus said “I will build My church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
And I will give to you the keys of the kingdom of heaven and whatsoever you shall
bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatsoever you shall loose on earth
shall be loosed in heaven” (Matthew 16:18-19).  Again in Luke 10:19 He says
“behold, I give to you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the
power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you”.  Jesus is our
example of this, remember the demonic man who lived in the tombs (Mark 5:1-10).
This man had a legion of demons in him, however in verse 8 Jesus said to him,
“come out of the man, you unclean spirit”, and the demons asked him that He would
not send them away out of the country.  And all the unclean spirits went out, and
entered into the swine”.  Jesus sent the 12 disciples out and again He sent out the
70 and they returned and said “Lord, even the devils are subject to us through Your
name” (Luke 10:17).

Jesus gave us authority, He said before His ascension “all power is given to Me in
heaven and in earth.  Go you therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  Teaching them to
observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you and lo, I am with you always,
even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20).

You don’t have to go to the devil and say please devil, leave me alone, you have to
get sick and tied of being sick and tied and do like Jesus told you in Matthew 18:18
“Verily I say to you, whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven,
and whatsoever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven”.  You have to
use the authority that has been given to you.  And like James says “submit
yourselves therefore to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7).
Resist means fight against.  Don’t belike Adam who gave his authority over to the
devil.  Romans 6:16 says “know you not, that to whom you yield yourselves servants
to obey, his servants you are to whom you obey; whether of sin to death, or of
obedience to righteousness”.

Remember that we are the body of Christ, in which He is the head, and as long as
we stay under His authority our authority will work of the devil.  Jesus says in Mark
16:17-18 “and these signs shall follow them that believe; in My name shall they cast
out devils, they shall speak with new tongues.  They shall take up serpents, and if
they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick,
and they shall recover”.  And we see these things happening in the first century
church.  The early disciples, did many miracles.  The Bible says “be sober, be
vigilant, because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking
whom he may devour” (I Peter 5:8). Which means he cannot destroy everyone, only
the ones who give up their power.  Ephesians 6:10-18 we are told to put on the
whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against demons.  When you use the
sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; we can stand therefore.  The devil
cannot defeat you (II Corinthians 10:3-5) “for though we walk in the flesh, we do not
war after the flesh.  For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty
through God to the pulling down of strong holds.  Casting down imaginations, and
every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and.  Bringing into
captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ”.

We can plead the blood over situations and circumstances in our lives.  Plead does
not man beg, it’s a legal term.  Jesus is our advocate, and when we ask, He covers
us.  When we know and understand that the devil is already defeated, we will look at
our circumstances differently.  Remember the Bible says “as a man thinks in his
heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7).  So if you think you are more than a conquerors,
you will conquer, but if you think you are defeated, you will be.  Knowing that Jesus
has taken out the teeth of the devil, he can only gum you; he has no power any
more.
