Deception:
Hebrew: Mislead, deceive, delude, entice, persuade, flatter, lead astray,
Seduce, beguile, cheat.
Greek: misreckon, delude, beguile, cause to error, delude, seduce, go astray,
Cause to roam, ensnare, adulterate, cheat.
(1)Religion deceptions: religion says God is solvent to the extent that everything He wills
comes to pass, but the word said “Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the
Holy One of Israel.” (Ps 78:41) Jesus could do no mighty work there (Matt 13:54-58)
because of their unbelief.
Some preachers tell loved ones that God took their loved one, but (John 10:10) says the
thief (devil) comes to steal kill and destroy. Death is under the curse. Religion will pray for
a sick person and say “if, it be God’s will” III John 2 tells us what God’s will is. Acts 10:38
says Jesus healed all, Ps 103:3 says He healed all our diseases, Isa 53:4-5 says by His
stripes we are healed.
(2) Miracles, healings, prophecy ended with the early church, and are not being done
anymore, but the word says believers shall….(Mark 16:15-18)
In John 14:12 Jesus tells us greater things we will do.
(3) Denominations – saying they believe this, but not that. They pick out certain things and
build a doctrine on it, but Jesus said in Luke 4:4, “It is written, man shall not live by bread
alone, but by every word of God.” Denominations have weakened the church of today
causing people to see division in the body of Christ, confusing would be converts.
(4) Sin – When one makes a mistake (sin) religion says that they can’t be used of God
anymore, but the Bible says in (I John 1:9) If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to
forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
(5) Grace – We are not under the law, but under grace. Paul says it like this, “What then?
shall we sin?” (Rom 6:14-16) The Bible tells us in Gal 6:7 we will reap what we sow. In Rom
15:4, “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we
through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope”.
(6) Holiness - holiness in not what you wear, but it’s walking in the Spirit, living by the Word
of God. The Holy Spirit can’t be where sin is. That’s why we must be quick to confess and
repent when we make a mistake. God said “be holy as I am holy.” Which means we can;
because God never tells us to do something we can’t do. Remember He is the author and
the finisher of our faith (Heb 12:2).
The World says (a) your past condemns you; once a junkie, always a junkie. But we are a
new creation (born again) in Christ (II Cor 5:17). Paul told them on Mars hill (Acts 17:22-28).
(b) Judge not and be not judged: The Bible does say this, however, it is talking about
judging sin not people. We are to hate what God hates (Ps 97:10, 139:21-22, Prov 6:16, 8:
13). Paul tells us in Ephesians, not to be partakers with them (Eph 5:1-8).
(c) Turn the other cheek and not get angry because we are Christians: Jesus did say,
“Turn the other cheek” but He also, turned the temple courtyard upside down when He saw
what they were doing (Mark 11:17). The Word also says we are to be angry and sin not
(Eph 4:26).
(d) There is nothing wrong with watching scary movies, but what you put in will come out.
We are to bring no accused thing into our house. God says fear not, so why look at a scary
movie? The world says be converted from Christianity or die, but Jesus said “don’t be
afraid of those who can kill the body, fear Him who can kill both the body and soul (Matt 10:
28). Fear is actually faith in reverse; faith that what the world says will come to pass. (Job 3:
25).
Prov 24:28 tell us “deceive not with your lips” We are warned to take care to avoid being
deceived. (Jer 9:4-5; Matt 15:18,20; 24:5-11, 24; I Cor 6:9-10), 15:33-34; James 1:22; I
Peter 5:6-8; II John 7-8.) We are warned not to deceive (Matt 18:6-7). The devil has
blinded the minds of unbelievers (II Cor 4:3-4). The devil deceives the world (Rev. 20:3,7-8).
By hiding the word in our heart so we sin not (Ps 119:11)
We overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony and loved not our life
unto death. (Rev 12:11).
Renew our minds to the Word of God (Roman 12:1-2).
God told Joshua the secret (Josh 1:8).
Trust in the LORD (Ps 37:3-7).
