Boldly Before the Throne
Be sure, confident, out spoken, frankness, assurance, courageous
The Bible tells us in Proverbs 28:1 “the wicked flee when no one pursues, but the
righteous are bold as a lion”. Jesus says “Behold, I give to you power to tread on
serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall
by any means hurt you” and we are told through out the Bible to “fear not”. We
are told to come into His presence boldly in Hebrews 4:16 “Let us therefore come
boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in
time of need”. Our boldness comes by the blood of Jesus (Hebrews 10:19-23).
God tells us to bring Him in remembrance of His Word (Isaiah 43:26). Boldness is
confidence in God’s word. We have this confidence by faith “In whom we have
boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him”. Don’t pray “if it be
Your will” but find out what God’s will is before you pray. God’s will is His word (I
John 5:14-15) “and this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask any
thing according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us,
whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him”.
remembering that God’s word will not return void. Step out on the strength of God’
s Word, and He’ll see to it that His Word does not return to Him void. Boldness is
not doubting, James said it this way in James 1:6-8 “but let him ask in faith,
nothing wavering, for he that wavers is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind
and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
A double minded man is unstable in all his ways”.
Jesus spoke boldly even though they sought to kill Him “but lo, He speaks boldly,
and they say nothing to Him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very
Christ?” And we being told to be followers of Christ and dear children, should do
the same. Paul says in Philippians 1:20 “According to my earnest expectation
and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as
always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or
by death”.
The early church prayed for boldness. Paul prayed in Ephesians 6:19 “and for
me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make
known the mystery of the gospel”. Peter’s and John’s boldness was seen (Acts 4:
13) “now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they
were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled, and they took knowledge of
them, that they had been with Jesus”. After using the name of Jesus in the
healing of the man at the gate beautiful, Peter and John were told not to speak
anymore in the name of Jesus, however, they boldly proclaimed His name even
more (Acts 4:18-21, 29-31).
I John 4:17 says “Love has been perfected among us in this, that we may have
boldness in the day of judgment, because as He is so are we in this world”. We
are to speak boldly “so we may boldly say “The Lord is my helper, I will not fear,
what can man do to me?” Remember that God chose us, empowered and
enabled us to be His witness. Jesus commissioned us to go into all the world, and
preach the gospel to every creature (Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15-18).
