Biblical Directions
God said 10 times in the book of Genesis “let” this be and then He saw what He
said. In Genesis 1:26 He said “let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness,
and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and
over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps
upon the earth”. We being made in the image of God should act accordingly.
The Bible tells us many times “let us”; this is our guideline in pleasing God; we see
what God says in Isaiah 1:18-19 “come now, and let us reason together, says the
Lord, though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be
red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If you be willing and obedient, you shall eat
the good of the land. But, if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured with the
sword, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken it”. Remember Deuteronomy 30:19
says “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before
you life and death, blessing and cursing therefore choose life, that both you and
your seed may live”. It is our choice that directs our life.
Let us who are redeemed of the Lord say so (Psalms 107:2). We are redeemed and
we are supposed to say so. Say what God says about any circumstance and see it
change. Our confession, saying the same things as God says is very important.
Jesus told us “My words are Spirit and they are life” (John 6:63). Proverbs 18:20-21
says “A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth, and with the increase
of his lips shall he be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they
that love it shall eat the fruit thereof”. The power of your tongue, when you speak
His words you are speaking life unto yourself and others. We are also told that His
“word is seed”, so planting His word in your life will bring forth good things. Whatever
is coming out of your mouth is shaping your life. We are told to hold fast to our
confession (Hebrews 4:14) “seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is
passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession”.
We have to put off the old man (I Corinthians 10:8-10) “neither let us commit
fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty
thousand. Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were
destroyed of serpents. Neither murmur you, as some of them also murmured, and
were destroyed of the destroyer”. Hebrews 12:1 says “wherefore seeing we also are
compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight,
and the sin which does so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that
is set before us. Looking to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith”. Talk to Jesus
about that thing that traps you and cast that care on Him and see it go away.
We have to be content (I Timothy 6:6-8) “but godliness with contentment is great
gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing
out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content”.
We have to believe His promises. Remember Hebrews 11:6 says “but without faith, it
is impossible to please Him, for he that comes to God must believe that He is and
that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him”. “Let us therefore fear (be
careful) less, a promise being left us of entering into His rest, any of you should
seem to come short of it” (Hebrews 4:1), verse 4:11 says “let us labor therefore to
enter into that rest, less any man fall after the same example of unbelief”. We have
to be confident in God’s faithfulness, verse 4:16 says “let us therefore come boldly to
the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of
need”.
Some people are stuck at the cross, but the Bible tells us “therefore leaving the
principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the
foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God” (Hebrews 6:1).
We are told to study to show ourselves approved; the Bible tells us that Jesus gave
some apostles, and some prophets, and some evangelists, and some pastors and
teachers. For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the
edifying of the body of Christ. Till we all come to the unity of the faith, and of the
knowledge of the Son of God to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the
fullness of Christ”.
We have to draw near to God, Psalms 73:28 says “it is good for me to draw near to
God. I have put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all Your works”.
Hebrews 10:22-24 says “Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith,
having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with
pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering, (for He is
faithful that promised). And let us consider one another to provoke to love and to
good works”. That’s why we are not supposed to forsake the assembling of
ourselves together, but we are to exhort one another.
We have to serve God His way (Hebrews 12:28) “wherefore we receiving a kingdom
which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably
with reverence and godly fear”. Romans 12:1-2 says “I beseech you therefore,
brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy,
acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And be not confirmed to this
world, but be you transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove
what is that good, and acceptable and perfect will of God”.
Walking in love (Hebrews 13:1) “let brotherly love continue”; verses 13-15 “ let us go
forth therefore to Him outside the camp, bearing His reproach. For here have we no
continuing city, but we week one to come. By Him therefore let us offer the sacrifice
of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name”; (I
John 3:18-19, 4:7-8) “My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue, but
in deed and in truth. And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure
our hearts before Him”, “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God, and
every one that loves is born of God, and knows God. He that loves not knows not
God, for God is love”.
Living in peace (Jams 1:19-21) “wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be
swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath. For the wrath of man works not the
righteousness of God. Wherefore lay apart of filthiness and superfluity of
naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save
your souls”.
Agreeing and practicing the let us statements in the Bible, will not be a means to
obtain salvation, but it will help us close the door on satan. Remember that the devil
is roaming about seeking whom he may devour, he can only devour those who open
the door to serve him. Romans 6:16 says “know you not, that to whom you yield
yourselves servants to obey, his servants you are to whom you obey; whether of sin
to death, or of obedience to righteousness?” Remember, “where envying and strife
is there is confusion and every evil work” (James 3:16).
