Believe That He Is
Hebrews 11:6 says “but without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he that
comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that
diligently seek Him”.
Look at how Jesus taught those that believed in Him in John 19-44, “then said
they to Him (Jesus), where is Your Father? Jesus answered, you neither know
Me, nor My Father, if you had known Me, you should have known My Father
also. These words spoke Jesus in the treasury, as He taught in the temple; and
no man laid hands on Him; for His hour was not yet come. Then said Jesus
again to them, I go My way, and you shall seek Me, and shall die in your sins;
where I go, you cannot come. Then said the Jews, will He kill Himself? Because
He said where I go, you cannot come. And He said to them, you are from
beneath; I am from above; you are of this world, I am not of this world. I said
therefore to you; that you shall die in your sins, for if you believe not that I Am
He, you shall die in your sins. Then said they to Him, who are You? And Jesus
said to them, even the same that I said to you from the beginning. I have many
things to say, and to judge of you, but He that sent Me is true; and I speak to the
world those things which I have heard of Him. They understood not that He
spoke to them of the Father. Then said Jesus to them, when you have lifted up
the Son of Man, then shall you know that I Am He, and that I do nothing of
Myself; but as My Father has taught Me, I speak these things. And He that sent
Me is with Me, the Father has not left Me alone; for I do always those things that
please Him. As He spoke these words, many believed on Him. Then said Jesus
to those Jews which believed on Him, if you continue in My word, then are you
My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you
free. They answered Him, we be Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage
to any man; how say You, you shall be made free? Jesus answered them,
Verily, verily, I say to you, whosoever commits sin is the servant of sin. And the
servant abides not in the house forever; but the Son abides ever. If the Son
therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed. I know that you are
Abraham’s seed; but you seek to kill Me, because My word has no place in you.
I speak that which I have seen with My Father, and you do that which you have
seen with your father. They answered and said to Him, Abraham is our father,
Jesus said to them, if you were Abraham’s children, you would do the works of
Abraham. But now you seek to kill Me, a man that had told you the truth, which I
have heard of God, this did not Abraham. You do the deeds of your father, then
said they to Him, we be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
Jesus said to them, if God were your Father, you would love Me; for I proceeded
forth and came from God, neither come I of Myself, but He sent Me. Why do you
not understand My speech? Even because you cannot hear My word. You are
of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a
murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth; because there is no
truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own; for he is a liar, and
the father of it”.
It is not enough to believe that Jesus is as some say “a good man”, or that “He is
a prophet” (James 2:19) says “you believe that there is one God; you do well;
the devils also believe, and tremble”. But you have to believe that He is the
great I Am, for salvation (John 3:14-15) “and as Moses lifted up the serpent in
the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up. That whosoever
believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life”.
Jesus spoke to the woman at the well and told her all that she had done; and
“the woman said to Him, Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet”. She continued
to discuss where was the right place to worship. Jesus said to her, woman,
believe Me the hour comes, when you shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at
Jerusalem, worship the Father. You worship you know not what; we know what
we worship; for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour comes, and now is, when
the true worshipper shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for the Father
seeks such to worship Him. God is a Spirit; and they that worship Him must
worship Him in spirit and in truth. The woman said to Him, I know that Messiah
comes, which is called Christ; when He is come, He will tell us all things. Jesus
said to her, I that speak to you, Am He” (John 4:19-26). She started out
confessing that she believed that He was a prophet, but later believed that He
was the Messiah and she went back to her town and convinced others (John 4:
39-42) “and many of the Samaritans of that city believed on Him for the saying of
the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did. So when the
Samaritans were come to Him, they besought Him that He would tarry with them,
and He abode there two days. And many more believed because of His own
word. And said to the woman, now we believe, not because of your sayings; for
we have heard Him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior
of the world”.
We also have to believe that He is a rewarder of them that diligently Him (Psalms
103:1-5) “bless the Lord Yahweh, O my soul and all that is within me, bless His
holy name. Bless the Lord Yahweh, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.
Who redeems your life from destruction, who crowns you with loving kindness
and tender mercies. Who satisfies your mouth with good things; so that your
youth is renewed like the eagle’s”.
Romans 8:29-32 says “for whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be
conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the first born among many
brethren. Moreover whom He did predestinate, them He also called, and whom
He called, them He also justified, and whom He justified, them He also glorified.
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against
us? He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall
He not with Him also freely give us all things”?
Ephesians 1:3-5 says “blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.
According as He has chosen us in Him, before the foundation of the world, that
we should be holy and without blame before Him in love. Having predestinated
us to the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good
pleasure of His will”.
