Believe
To place one’s trust in GOD’S truth; one who takes GOD at His Word and trusts in
Him for salvation. (Yeshua-deliverance, victory, prosperity, free,)
Hebrew meaning – Aman, (Ax-man) assurance, trust, to render to be firm or
faithful, to be true or certain
.
Greek meaning – Pistero, (Pist-yoo’o) to have faith in, upon, or with respect to a
person or thing commit, to trust put in trust with.
Mere assent to GOD’S truth is not saving faith, according to the Bible (John 8:31-
46). One has to continue in His Words (Acts 8:13-24). One has to repent (James
2:14-26). One has to do something. The Bible said, “Even the demons believe
and tremble” (James 2:19).
Neither is total commitment or oneself to Jesus as Lord a form of saving faith such
a view places too much emphasis on the act of belief, as opposed to the object of
belief. Jesus Christ this view also goes beyond the Biblical evidence of faith as
reception of a gift (John 4:1-42, Eph. 2:8-10).
A belief that saves is one that rests in the finished work of Christ. It trusts God
alone for salvation (John 3:16). Believers are those who have trusted God with
their will as well as their mind (Rom. 1:16; 3:22, 10:9-10, I Thess 1:7).
That’s why it is so important for believers to renew their mind.
Let’s establish something: The Bible is inspired by God!
(II Pet 1:21, II Tim 3:16)
Because we believe the Bible, we must act on it. Believe is an action word, a
verb. We must act on what we believe to receive it (II Cor 4:13). Sometimes
speaking it is the only thing we need do.
Jesus said, “Why call Me, Lord, Lord and do not the things I say?” (Luke 6:46)
Remember, the instant camera.
Rom 15:4 “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our
learning, that we through patience and comfort, of the scriptures might have hope.”
Phil 4:13 “I Can do all things through Christ which strengthens Me.”. The key is
through Christ, not of our selves.
(Rev 12:11) The more you testify, the more we all overcome. Testifying is
bringing on God, rehearsing the victories of the past. Share them with others, it
not only helps us by raising our faith, but it also helps others, by giving them hope.
When we believe the Word, we should do as Mary did, saying be it upon to me
according to your Word, Then separate oneself to people with like manner.
Amen: (SO be it) – A solemn word by which a person confirms a statement, an
oath, or a covenant (Num 5:22; Neh 5:13). It is also used in worship to affirm an
address, Psalm, or prayer; to state something as true and reliable.
MARK 16:17-18 “And these signs shall follow them that believe. In my name
shall they cast out devils, they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up
serpents and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay
hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”
To defeat satan we must do as Jesus did! Reply “It is written” and quote God’s
precious Word when doubt or trouble comes.
