As it is in Heaven

The disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray, and in Matthew 6:9-13 Jesus
says “after this manner therefore pray you; Our Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.  Your kingdom come, Your will be done in earth, as it is in
heaven.  give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our debts, as we forgive
our debtors.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for Yours is
the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.  Amen”.

We can fall into the trap of reading this to fast; lets break it down, because we
have to know how to pray.  We start out in verse 9 saying Our Father, which art in
heaven; we are born again children of God (Romans 8:16) “the Spirit Himself bears
witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God”.

Hallowed be Your name; acknowledging the holiness of His name.

In verse 10 it says; Your kingdom come.  Your will be done in earth, as it is in
heaven; we are asking for the kingdom of God to come and His will to be done in
us, as it is in heaven.  There is no sickness or poverty in heaven.  Sickness and
poverty is a part of the curse which came about because of the sin of mankind
(Deuteronomy 28:15-68) reveals this, in verse 15 states “but it shall come to pass,
if you will not hearken to the voice of the Lord Yahweh you God, to observe to do
all His commandments and His statutes which I command you this day, that all
these curses shall come upon you and overtake you”.

The Bible shows us what is in heaven in Genesis 1:31 it says, “and God saw
everything that He had made, and, behold, it was very good.  And the evening and
the morning were the sixth day.  James 1:17 says “every good gift and every
perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is
no variableness, neither shadow of turning”.  And in Revelation 21:4-5 says “and
God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death,
neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former
things are passed away.  And He that sat upon the throne said, behold, I make all
things new, and He said to me, write; for these words are true and faithful”.

In verse 11 it says “give us this day our daily bread; Jesus teaches us that God our
Father is our source (Matthew 6:25-33) “therefore I say to you.  Take no thought
for your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor yet for your body, what
you shall put on.  Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
Behold the fowls of the air; for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into
barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them.  Are you not much better than they?
Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit to his stature?  And why take
you thought for raiment?  Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow, they toil
not, neither do they spin.  And yet I say to you, that even Solomon in all his glory
was not arrayed like one of these.  Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the
field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall He not much more
clothe you, O you of little faith?  Therefore take no though saying, what shall we
eat? Or what shall we drink? Or, wherewithal shall we be clothed?  For after, all
these things do the Gentiles seek; for your heavenly Father knows that you have
need of all these things.  But seek you first the kingdom of God, and His
righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you”.

In verse 12 it says “and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors”.  Many
people don’t take this to heart, but in verse 14-15 it says “for if you forgive men
their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.  But if you forgive not
men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses”.  We have
to remember that the devil will bring people in our path, to try to get us into
unforgiveness.  But we have to forgive others, in order to walk in God’s forgiveness.

In Verse 13 it says “and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for
Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever, Amen”.  The Holy
Spirit dwells in us to lead and guide us (Romans 8:9-14) “but you are not in the
flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you.  Now if any man
have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His.  And if Christ be in you, the body is
dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.  But if the
Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, He that raised up
Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwells
in you.
Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.  For if
you live after the flesh, you shall die, but if you through the Spirit do mortify the
deeds of the body, you shall live.  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they
are the sons of God”.

As we meditate on what is called the Lord’s prayer, we will see that what it is saying
can change our lives for the better.  Jesus gave to us the keys of the kingdom
(Matthew 16:19; and 18:18) “and I will give to you the keys of the kingdom of
heaven; and whatsoever you shall bind on earth, shall be bound in heaven; and
whatsoever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven”.  I did a lesson on
binding and loosing, which can be useful to understanding how to release the
things of the kingdom of heaven.  Job 22:28 says “you shall also decree a thing,
and it shall be established to you; and the light shall shine upon your ways”.

Jesus taught that the kingdom of heaven was at hand (Matthew 4:17) “from that
time Jesus began to preach, and to say, repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at
hand”.  Repent means to turn around, to change your mind to the word of God.

Jesus as our example, He revealed to us how we should live (Matthew 8:1-3) “when
He was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed Him.  And, behold,
there came a leper and worshiped Him saying, Lord, if You will, You can make me
clean.  And Jesus put forth His hand, and touched him, saying, I will, be you clean.
And immediately his leprosy was cleansed”.  Many times in the Gospels it shows us
that Jesus went about healing many of many different kinds of infirmities; and in
Acts 10:38 it says “how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and
with power; who went about doing good, and healing all that was oppressed of the
devil; for God was with Him”.  This clearly shows us that the devil is responsible for
sickness, diseases and oppression.

Jesus sent out His disciples to do the works that He did (Matthew 10:1,5-8) “and
when He had called to Him, His twelve disciples, He gave them power against
unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner
of disease.  These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, go not
into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter you not.  But
go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.  And as you go, preach, saying,
the kingdom of heaven is at hand.  Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the
dead, cast out devils; freely you have received, freely give”.

Jesus sent out seventy others with the same command (Luke 10:1-3,17-20) “after
these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two
before His face into every city and place, where He Himself would come.  Therefore
said He to them, the harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; pray you
therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He would send forth laborers into His
harvest.  Go your ways; behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.  And the
seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject to us
through Your name.  And He said to them, I beheld satan as lightning fall from
heaven.  Behold, I give to you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over
all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall by any means hurt you”.

Jesus also have sent us out too (Mark 16:15-18) “and He said to them, go you into
all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.  He that believes and is
baptized shall be saved; but he that believes not shall be damned.  And these
signs shall follow them that believe.  In My name shall they cast out devils; they
shall speak with new tongues.  They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any
deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall
recover”.

The early church believed and acted on His command and turned their world
upside down.  But this was not to end with the disciples (Acts 2:39) “for the promise
is to you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the
Lord our God shall call”.

We are supposed to be reigning in life (Romans 5:17) “for if by one man’s offense
death reigned by one, much more they which receive abundance of grace and of
the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by One, Jesus Christ”.
